The sky was blanketed with stars, far as the eye could see. Jae-ha could not help but look up
from where he sat, on the ground before the crackling campfire.
Kija found himself looking up to the sky, tilting his head to see how Jae-ha watched the stars
shine above them. The others were asleep, settled in for the long day ahead of them.
It was both Jae-ha and Kija's turn to stay on guard, in case of getting caught unawares, or
someone wishing to do great harm to them.
This all wasn't a new thing, but there had been too many instances to let their guard down
now. They all had to use their abilities, powers of the Dragon Warriors, for the greater good.
Kija once considered it a curse, but this power was something he couldn't ignore.
Kija looked down, away from the skies, and he gazed at Jae-ha, who lowered his head, and in
turn, looked towards him.
"There have been warriors, just like us, in the stars." Jae-ha spoke, finally, after a long
silence.
Kija regarded him, shifting where he sat. "You really think so?" He asked, wary and yet
curious.
Jae-ha nodded. "I do believe that; we've been brought together for a reason, right?"
Kija blinked, and he nodded as well. "That's true, and also…" He lifted one of his hand, the
right hand which soon shifted into a dragon's claw, covered in white scales. "We're
connected."
Jae-ha felt his voice catch in his throat, but he shifted himself closer to Kija. His eyes studied
the other man's claw, the edges sharp and shimmering.
"Up close, it really is incredible." Jae-ha replied, with Kija holding still, but feeling his face
grow warm.
"I'm aware," Kija said finally, but he kept his eyes on Jae-ha, moving his hand back. "But
don't get too close, otherwise..."
Jae-ha looked disappointed for a second, but a smile grow on his face, an amused one at that
"Otherwise, what?" He asked, though he did not need an answer.
"You will regret touching them." Kija replied, firmly, but he sat close to Jae-ha, who kept his
eyes upon the fellow warrior.
Jae-ha shrugged, still smiling. "Fair point, but if that does happen, I wouldn't regret it at all."
Kija stared at him, shifting his right hand back to normal, only the sharp nails intact. "Are
you certain?" He asked, finally.
Jae-ha moved closer to Kija, placing his hand on the other man's, the one that was the dragon
claw.
This was my first time writing for Yona of the Dawn, so forgive me if there are some
character inconsistencies.
