Materials
Yarn/wool: I have used Catania yarn from Schachenmayr in yellow (0208),
brown, dark brown (0162), white (0106) and sand (0214) color.
Crochet hook: 3.0 mm
Approx. 150 cm of single core copper PVC-coated electrical wire (diameter: 3 mm)
Rubber tape (electrician’s tape) 1,5 cm wide to secure wire ends
Tapestry needle
Filling
Scissors
Pliers for cutting wire
Two 9 mm black safety eyes
Small pebble (diagonal: 4-5 cm) to make Geoffrey’s bottom heavier
Abbreviations
St(s) - stitch(es)
Ch - chain
Sc - single crochet
Slst - slip stitch
Ls - loop stitch
Inc - increase (2 sc in next st)
Dec - decrease (2 sc worked off together)
(nr) - indicates the total number of stitches in the current row/round
FO - fasten off
Important Notes
All rounds are worked in a continuous spiral (except Geoffrey’s eyebrows). Do not
join or turn, unless instructed otherwise
You may find it useful to use a stitchmarker for counting your rounds
Take your time to create your amigurumi’s face, it is a very important part of the
final result
While stuffing and making the wire frame take care to give each part a nice shape
Using invisible decrease instead of decrease makes the final result nicer

Round 33. 29 sc, dec, 6 sc (36)
Round 34. (4 sc, dec)* (30)
Round 35. (3 sc, dec)* (24)
Start to create the wire frame at this point. In my case the wire for the body was
approximately 40 cm long. Keep in mind the size of the hook and the gauge of the yarn
you are using. You may want to leave the wire rather a bit longer. Adjust it to the final
length, when the body’s size is evident.
Make a loop at one end of the wire. Secure it with the rubber tape. Insert the wire into the
head as you see on the picture. Start stuffing the head (stuff nicely around the wire), and
keep on stuffing while crocheting.
FO. Close the hole by leading the thread through the front loops of last round, pull it tight
and weave the yarn tail into the head.

Round 5. sc* (20)
Slst around. FO. Leave a long yarn tail for sewing it to the head.
Insert the black safety eyes into the eyeball (see pictures above). With invisible stitches sew
the eyes to the head. For the exact place see the pictures below. Stuff the eyes softly with a
small amount of filling while sewing. Sew the eyelids onto the eyeballs.

Horns
From brown yarn create some hair on top of the horns as you see on the pictures below.
With invisible stitches sew them to the head. For the exact place please see the pictures.
Page - 8 - of 20
Ears
FO; leave a long yarn tail. Flatten the ears and fold about a quarter of them back on both
sides. With invisible stitches sew it to the head. See the pictures for the exact place.

Body
Round 1. ch 15 (15)
Round 2. sc in second ch from hook, 12 sc, 3 sc in last ch. Continue on the
other side of beginning ch: 12 sc, 2 sc into the last ch (you made
the first sc into this ch) (30)
Round 3. inc, 12 sc, 3 inc, 12 sc, 2 inc (36)
Round 4. (sc, inc), 12 sc, (sc, inc) 3-times, 12 sc, (sc, inc)2-times (42)
Round 5. (2 sc, inc), 11 sc, ch2, skip 1, (2 sc, inc) 3-times, ch2, skip 1,
11 sc, (2sc, inc)2-times (50)
The wire for the hind legs will later go through the holes just created.
Round 6. (3 sc, inc), 11 sc, sc into the ch2 loop from prev. round, (3 sc, inc) 3-times,
sc into the ch2 loop from prev. round, 11 sc, (3 sc, inc)2-times (54)
Round 7. (2 sc, ch2, skip 1, sc, inc), 39 sc, (3 sc, ch2, skip 1, inc),(4 sc, inc) (59)
The wire for the forelegs will later go through the holes just created.
Round 9. (6 sc, inc), 18 sc, 3 sc (insert hook through tail and body stitches,
as you see on the pictures above), 18 sc, (6 sc, inc) 2-times (63)
Page - 11 - of 20
Round 10. (7 sc, inc), 18 sc, 4 sc (insert hook through the remaining stitches
of the tail, see picture below), 18 sc, (7 sc, inc) 2-times (67)
From now you need to crochet the neck around the wire. (The number of the rounds can be
adjusted to the length of the wire if it is necessary.)
FO. Leave a long yarn tail. With invisible stitches sew the neck to the body and the head.
Cut two pieces of wire for the legs. Insert the wire through the corresponding holes on the
body (see pictures). In my case the wire for the forelegs was approx. 50 cm, for the hind
legs approx. 45 cm long. You may want to leave it a little longer as the exact size can be
adjusted later. To increase Geoffrey’s stability, the leg’s wire should go through the end
loop of the main skeleton wire.
Page - 13 - of 20
Feet and legs
Stuff the knee softly (use a long stick). Insert the wire into the leg. Adjust the length of
the wire (see picture below) and make a loop at the end. Secure the loop with rubber tape.
Page - 14 - of 20
Hind legs with yellow yarn (make 2):
Round 1. 12 sc in double adjustable ring (do not close the hole and leave a long
yarn tail for sewing it to the body – see pictures) (12)
Round 2. – Round 3. sc* (12)
Round 4. (sc, dec)* (8)
Round 5. – Round 17. sc* (8)
Round 18. (sc, inc) 2-times, 4 sc (10)
Round 19. sc * (10)
At this point stop working in spiral, to create Geoffrey’s heel work in rows instead:
Round 20. Skip 1, 4 sc, 4sc into the remaining stitches of the leg. (8)
Round 21. – Round 30. sc* (8)
Round 31. (sc, inc)* (12)
Round 32. (2 sc, inc)* (16)
Round 33. (3 sc, inc)* (20)
Stuff the heel softly (use a long stick). Insert the wire into the leg. Adjust the length of the
wire (see pictures below) and make a loop at the end. Secure the loop with rubber tape.
Page - 15 - of 20
Feet with dark brown yarn (make 4):
FO. Close the hole by leading the thread through the front loops of last round, pull it tight
and weave the yarn tail into the foot. With a few invisible stitches create the cloven hoofs
on the foot (see pictures).
Page - 16 - of 20
Stuff the leg carefully around the wire from above. With a long stick try to shape the
knees nicely. Sew the leg with invisible stitches to the body. Finally bend the end hook of
the wire inside the foot to the proper position.
Patches
With brown yarn embroider the body, neck and head. Create as many patches as you like
(e.g. as can be seen on the pictures), as each individual giraffe has a unique coat pattern.
The more parallel your stitches are inside a patch, the nicer your result will be.
Hair
Row 1. ch 42 (42)
Row 2. ls in second ch from hook, 40 ls (=ls in each of the next 41 ch) (41)
FO. Leave a long yarn tail and sew it to the head and neck. Give Geoffrey a nice haircut
by cutting the loop stitches open and shorten them to the desired length.

Round 17. sc* (62)
FO. Cut the yarn and weave the yarn tail into the hat.
With sand yarn make a small button and sew it to the top of the hat:
Round 1. 6 sc in double adjustable ring (6)
FO.
Page - 18 - of 20
With sand yarn crochet a band:
Row 1. ch 43 (43)
Row 2. sc into the first stitch of the starting chain creating a circle, 42 sc
(=sc in each of the next 42 ch) (43)
Turn in the end point of the band (creating a Möbius band) as you can see on the pictures
below.
FO. Leave a long yarn tail and with invisible stitches sew it to the hat as you see on the
pictures below.
With dark brown yarn create a band and sew it to the hat as well.
