ROBOTICS REVOLUTION

SUMMARIES

1.
The text presents different robotic applications. Robots can replace
human workers because they are particularly suitable for use in
dangerous environments and when great strength or automatic
accuracy is required.
Scientists are also modelling robots on the biological world, emulating
movements of humans and animals.
However, robots cannot replace humans completely since they cannot
operate independently of instructions given by humans.

2.
Many of the robots in use today do jobs that are especially difficult for
human workers and require great strength or pose danger. Also, robots
are used where automatic accuracy is required.
Newer types of robots that are fitted with video cameras and other
sensing devices are used in space projects, nuclear reactor stations and
underwater exploration research.
Researchers have succeeded in their efforts to expand the range of
robotic applications, but the challenge of equipping robots with the
skills to operate independently has not been met yet.
