Summary

"The sky is beginning to lighten, and she knows they should be rejoining their friends soon.

But she lets him rest for a few more minutes, watching him breathe peacefully until she can’t
take it anymore and she has to wake him before she does something stupid like kiss him."

--

An addition to the storage shed moment, in which our favorite duo have some feelings about
each other.

Notes

I read chapters 225 and 226 recently and I have FEELINGS.

A tiny bit of speculation and AU.

Yes, I stole the title from Encanto. I watched it again recently and Pepa's catchphrase is stuck
in my head.
Hak pins her against the wall and Yona’s head spins.

She can hear his words from Kuelbo’s manor, echoing in her head: It’s not enough.

It’s almost like the kiss he’d given her in the castle dungeon, but less relieved.

This kiss feels even more desperate, like he’s losing himself.

Like the sound of the rain outside has shifted something and he’s afraid that he’s lost her.

“It’s not a dream, right?” he breathes when he pulls away, and Yona doesn’t get time to reply
before he’s kissing her again.

When he lowers her to the floor, her robes fluttering at her shoulders, Yona is afraid he’s lost
control, that he might not hear her requests to stop.

As he rambles through his feelings in a way she’s not used to, Yona just watches him, her
heart breaking at his confession that he was afraid he’d never see her again.

When he looms over her again and says that he can’t tell if he’s dreaming or not, she knows
that she needs to break whatever illusion his memories are causing.

So she hits him as hard as she dares, assuring him that he’s not allowed to do this to her,
thank you very much. It’s dark in here, and her head is becoming fuzzy, too.

It takes a few moments, and an awkward conversation, before Yona realizes that Hak has
stopped trembling. His shoulders aren’t shaking beneath her fingers anymore.

Relieved, she slides her arms around him, tugging herself into his chest.

He sits stiffly, and she can hear him scratching his head, but he lets her hug him.

She sits that way for what feels like forever before Hak’s hand begins to stroke her hair and
his other arm wraps carefully around her shoulders, like he’s still uncertain if he’s allowed to
touch her.

She lets herself weep quietly into his already-damp robes, squeezing her eyes shut and
breathing in his presence.

Eventually, Hak’s fingers still against her hair, his breathing restful as he falls asleep.

Yona shifts so she can lean against him, sighing heavily as she closes her eyes to rest.

When she wakes, Hak is still snoring lightly next to her.

The sky is beginning to lighten, and she knows they should be rejoining their friends soon.

But she lets him rest for a few more minutes, watching him breathe peacefully until she can’t
take it anymore and she has to wake him before she does something stupid like kiss him.
It’s very hard to resist, but Yona keeps her hands to herself, leaning over him carefully. Years
of watching him rest have taught her the tells of when he’s coming back to consciousness,
and she wakes him with gentle words, smiling as his eyes blink open.

When Hak wakes, it takes him a minute to realize a few things:

He hadn’t been dreaming last night.

He’d taken it a step too far with the princess, if the ache at his forehead is anything to go by.

It’s almost like the honey moment again, and he feels himself flush to his toes.

Just as he’s berating himself for giving in to his desires again, Yona’s voice breaks through
his mental tirade:

“Look! The dawn is beautiful!”

Startled, Hak looks past her, at the sky, bathed in pinks and reds.

It looks so much like her hair that he can’t help but stare, mesmerized.

“The sky is clear now,” Yona says, meeting his gaze with a smile, and Hak feels… lighter.

The sound of rain is gone from his head, like it had been last night when she’d covered his
ears.

She’s beautiful against the morning sky, clear and bright.

Gratitude and love course through him in a rush that makes it hard to stand.

Yona offers him a hand and he takes it, letting her lead him back to their friends.
