Mission

The department is a modern, accessible and multi-media development, government and

information by playing a leading role in the communication system, efficient between the
government and the people through creating a common understanding on basic regional and
national issues and playing a significant role in building the good image of the city by ensuring
an effective flow of information.

Vision

In the year 2018, the department is rich in information and plays an important role in nation
building, and the nature of the society and the appearance of the city have changed for the better.

Objective:

The main objective of the department is to increase the diversity and accessibility of the media in
the city, to make a significant contribution to the efforts to build a political and economic society
by establishing a modern and effective media development and public opinion system.

Hawassa City Administration Department of Government Information and Communication

Affairs is an institution that has been organized and is fulfilling its role to ensure a healthy
communication between the city administration and the residents.

In order to achieve this mission, the department has been supported by the appropriate budget of
the administration and is making efforts to provide balanced, comprehensive, up-to-date and
consensus-building information through print and electronic page-to-page information options.

In this way, the department is helping the efforts being made to register a radical change as a city
in the actual situation of the city using data contexts.

The department, which is carrying out this coordinated and intensive effort, is a governmental
