1 SCOPE

1.1 Document Overview

This Calibration Procedure Document describes the steps required to calibrate mcX Seat
Actuation Control Systems (SACS) that are installed in the BE Aerospace / COPA Airlines
8737, Business class seats.

1.2 Effectivity

This procedure applies to all SACS listed in section 2.1.

2 APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS

The following documents will form a part of this document. The latest issue will be used for
reference unless a specific revision is called out.

4 SEAT CALIBRATION PROCEDURE

Seat calibration must be performed when a Recline (PN: 93-2801-01-01)and/or Legrest (PN:
93-2108-01-02) SAM is newly installed or replaced on the seat.

4.1 Galibration Gircumstances

Perform the following steps every time an actuator is installed in the system. Step 1) ensures
that the new LRU is cross-loaded by the software configuration module. Step 2) mechanically
aligns the potentiometer, thereby normalizing seat measurement.

1) Power up the system and wait at least 5 minutes.


2) Manually exercise the actuator through the range of motion from Bed to TTL twice
(two complete cycles).

4.2 Calibration Mode Entry

4.2.1 Press the following buttons on the Main PCU within 1 second of each other in the order
shown to enter Calibration mode as shown in Figure 1.

3- Recline Deploy

Note: PCU backlight will turn on and off every 500ms upon entering calibration mode.

4.3 Seat Calibration

After performing steps shown in Section 4.2, follow the steps below to calibrate the seat:

4.3.1 Using the mechanical override levers, manually move the seat to the upright position in the
followinq s,equence: Recline Legrest within 60 seconds of entering CAL mode and press the

Note: PCU backlight will stay illuminated for 5 seconds and then it will return to turning on
and off every 500ms.

4.3.2 Using the mechanical override levers, manually move the seat to the fully flat position in the

following sequence: Recline; Legrest within G0 seconds and press the "Bed" 1Wfl) button
Note: PCU backlight will turn on and off every 250ms after capturing second calibration point.

4.4 Exiting Calibration Mode

The system shall exit calibration mode after a time-out period of 60 seconds after the last
button was pressed and PCU backlight will return to the state prior to entering calibration
mode.

4.5 Seat Calibration Verification

After calibration process is complete, follow steps below to ensure calibration process has
been performed successfully.

4.5.1 Press the "TTL" 1KWt, button on the PCU and verify that the seat moves to the calibrated
TTL position.

4.5.2 Press the "Bed" ([@J) button on the PCU and verify that the seat moves to the calibrated
Bed position.

Note: Seat calibration must be repeated if seat motion does not occur as desired.
