Group Project:

 Building a fence

This will be the main project for the course.

1. Plan Quality Management – 25 Marks


a. Create a Quality Management Plan (QMP) for the project. This will need to be
monitored and updated throughout the project.
i. Create Quality Management team and assign roles for each person within your group. Create a bio
for each member. (Internal Deadline end of day: February 1, 2021)

3. Quality Manager – Shahid Islam
Purpose

To implement, maintain, develop and improve the company quality system in accordance
with ISO 9001:2021 and report on its performance to the management for review. To
prepare, review and implement the Project Quality Management Plan for the assigned
project.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

 Assists the Project Manager in setting the company quality policy, formulating the
project objectives and monitoring their implementation with focus on continuous
improvement.
 Implementation and maintenance of the quality system certified under ISO
9001:2021 with overall responsibility for the review of all documents generated
which form part of this QMP.
 Prepare inspection and testing plans for the project in collaboration with the QSM
and Construction Team.
 Prepare/review wooden fence in close coordination with Project Manager and
Purchase Department to ensure approval for designs using commercially economic
components.
 Responsible for the planning and implementation of internal quality audits program
with direct control over the auditors, including provision of support and advice in
carrying out their duties. Perform internal audits on a regular basis and external
audits as appropriate.
 Liaising with Construction Managers on technical and Quality aspects.
 Assisting and supporting the construction teams with the use of Lean Six Sigma
concepts to continuously improve productivity and processes.
 Establishment of project laboratory as required by the specification and coordinate
with independent laboratories.
 Provide necessary on job instructions and related training to Material / Laboratory

 Review Quality Management Plan and Inspection and Testing Plans (ITP) and update
accordingly in collaboration with the Construction Team.

4. Quality Controller - Tori


Purpose
To examine materials and processes with reference to necessary specifications and guidelines in
order to make sure they are of acceptable quality and standard.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
 Conduct or schedule any necessary product testing that is required for the project
 Inspect products and processes to identify defects and potential issues
 Keep a record of inspections, highlighting any defects or issues found
 Report any issues to the quality manager and suggest potential remedies
 Make sure quality control documents are up to date for use
 Ensure processes and products are in good condition prior to scheduling inspections.

5. Quality Assurance - Aditya


Purpose
 To ensure that all external and internal requirements are met before the product reaches to
the customers. Responsible for inspecting procedures, outputs, and identifying mistakes or
non-conformity issues. Assisting the project manager for assurance of quality of the services
delivered to the customers in the from of physical product, services and after sales services.
Responsible to ensure that the service is met with the relevant quality standards specified
established by the company and the quality standard organization in terms of durability,
service period, performance, usage and quality of customer experience.

Duties and Responsibilities


 Provides assistance to the Project Manager in the implementation of quality standards.
 Devise procedures to inspect and report quality issues
 Monitor all operations that affect quality
 Supervise and guide inspectors, technicians and other staff
 Assure the reliability and consistency of production by checking processes and final output
 Appraise customers’ requirements and make sure they are satisfied
 Report all malfunctions to production executives to ensure immediate action
 Facilitate proactive solutions by collecting and analyzing quality data

 Review current standards and policies
 Keep records of quality reports, statistical reviews and relevant documentation
 Ensure all legal standards are met
 Communicate with external quality assurance officers during on-site inspections

6. Quality Assurance - David


o Purpose
o Responsible for ensuring a product or service meets the established standards of
quality including reliability, usability and performance required for distribution
and the market.
o Principal Duties and Responsibilities
 Assists the Project Manager in assuring quality standard successfully implement in
projects
 Draft quality assurance policies and procedures
 Interpret and implement quality assurance standards and procedures
 Devise sampling procedures and directions for recording and reporting quality data
 Review the implementation and efficiency of quality and inspection systems
 Plan, conduct and monitor testing and inspection of materials and products to ensure
finished product quality
 Document internal audits and other quality assurance activities
 Analyze data to identify areas for improvement in the quality system
 Develop, recommend and monitor corrective and preventive actions
 Coordinate and support on-site audits conducted by external providers
 Evaluate audit findings and implement appropriate corrective actions
 Monitor risk management activities
 Responsible for document management systems
 Assure ongoing compliance with quality and industry regulatory requirements

 Create Quality Management Plan. Sections that should be included: (Internal

 Introduction – explain the quality portion of the project.

 Introduction:
o This Quality Management Plan (QMP) describes the management arrangements that
Group-6 shall adopt for the delivery of the Works in connection with housing wooden
fence project, in accordance with the Construction Contract, Specifications, Drawings
and the policies adopted by Group-6. This QMP shall be applicable to all the Works to be
undertaken by Group-6 in connection with the housing wooden fence project (HWFP)
including the site setup, mobilization, construction of the project and demobilization.
This QMP will also be used for the advanced works.
o As per Group-6 policies and procedures, the quality elements shall be operated and
maintained in accordance with the QMP and which are currently compliant with the ISO
9001:2021 (Quality Management Systems Requirements).
 Scope Statement – What will the QMP be accomplishing?
o Group-6 has been contracted as main contractor to deliver the customer’s aims and
objectives and the Project Objectives, under the supervision of XYZ. These objectives
and the method of measuring them will be as per Group-6 Quality Policy. Group-6 shall
assist, as appropriate, with the delivery of the customer’s aims and objectives and the
Project Objectives and shall provide performance data relevant to Group-6, its sub-
contractors and suppliers. In addition, Group-6 has its own objectives which are
referenced in Group-6 quality policy.
o The Project Manager shall complete the Project Report Pack Monthly and agree a suite
of performance
o targets and Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) for the Works in connection with the
Project.
o To finish the project on or before the completion date.
o To finish the project within established budget and according to the project specifications
and standards
o To maintain internal rejection rate for Request for Inspection below 2%.

1. Regulatory Codes and Standards – What codes and standards will the
QMP be following? TORI
Regulatory codes and standards will be primarily based on information
provided by Winnipeg Planning, property & Development Department
on residential fences; as well as Waterford Green’s Fence standards for
Residential lots . The secondary standards and requirements will be
based on client preferences.
2. Scope of Works – What is the Project Scope of Work
5.1 The HWFP project comprises of wooden fencing works around the house.
 The scope consists of supply and installation of wooden fence all around house, the works
includes the following:
 Using wooden posts 140x140x2900mm, structural rails 38x140mm, top caps 38x198mm, shall
be Grade 1 Pressure Treated, Unpainted Cedar Tone Brown, Galvanized fence hanger bracket
(where required), screws, lag screws, and nails required to fasten timber rails and top caps to
posts, and 19mm aggregates (Drawing attached pg.…….)
ii. Include sections such as Control of Documents and Data; Management Responsibility; Design Quality
Management; Construction Quality Management; Lines of Communication; NCR’s and PAR’s, etc.
ADITYA
 The control of documents and data will be done by keeping the records of all of the project
documents such as contract, scope, procedures, quality standard records, process of planning
and building and the handover to the customer.
 Management responsibility includes the inspection, quality checks, quality assurance, setting
up the quality standards, and following the protocols to meet the standards specified.
 Quality management design includes the management of quality and reducing the cost
incurred due the four key areas, that are, Internal failure costs, External failure costs, Cost of
prevention and Cost of appraisal.
 Construction quality management includes the quality check and verification of the materials,
tools, equipment, working conditions, supplier management, and management of staff.
 Communication with the project manager, team, suppliers, customers, stakeholders.
Organizing the meeting for quality management and providing specific information and
guidelines to the project team. Documenting the minutes of meetings and communicating the
decisions to the project team by email, notices and announcements.
 Follow-up with the project manager for the quality assurance after completion of project part
by part.
 Ensuring the specified quality standards of provided by Winnipeg Planning, property &
Development Department on residential fences; as well as Waterford Green’s Fence standards
for Residential lots are followed.
iii. Layout parameters and quality controls/restraints that will be monitored and measured. (Internal
Deadline end of day: February 8, 2021)
7. Manage Quality – 10 Marks
a. Create a Monthly Quality Report to be submitted to the Client. (Due end of day:
February 22, 2021)
i. Quality Report should include Graphs and Charts of data.

ii. Within the report, describe one area where the quality was lacking and how the issue will be
resolved.
8. Control Quality (Internal Deadline end of day: March 8, 2021) – 15 Marks
a. Provide a Completed Quality Control Checklist – 1 for each member of the group.
b. Submit NCR’s that have been completed and gone through the whole Quality Process –
1 for each member of the group.
