Section A

Answer three of the following questions.

Answers should refer to the context of the passages wherever possible. Answers should retell

the story from which the passage is taken.

1 And all went to be enrolled, each to his own city. And Joseph also went up from

Galilee, from the city of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, to be enrolled with

Mary, his betrothed, who was with child. (Luke 2 verse 3)

2 And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, “Jesus,

Son of David, have mercy on me!” (Mark 10 verse 47)

3 And Jesus said to her, “O woman, what have to do with me? My hour has not yet

5. Read the following passage and then answer the question bellow:

Mark 5 Verses 35-40


On that day when evening had come, he said to them “Let us go across to the other side.”

And leaving the crowd, they took him with them in the boat, just as he was. And other

boats were with him. And a great storm of the wind arose, and the waves beat into the boat,

so that the boat was already filling. But he was in the stern, asleep on the cushion; and they

woke him and said to him, “Teacher, do you not care if we perish?”. And he woke and

rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace be still!.” And the wind ceased, and there was

great calm.

“Jesus was more human than divine.” Assess the truth of this statement. Refer to the passage

this,

like sheep without a shepherd; and he began to teach them many things. When it grew late,

disciples came to him and said, ‘This is a deserted place, and the hour is now very late; send

them away so that they may go into the surrounding country and villages and buy something

for

themselves to eat.’ But he answered them, ‘You give them something to eat.’ They said to

him,
‘Are we to go and buy two hundred denarii worth of bread, and give it to them to eat?’ And

he

said to them, ‘How many loaves have you? Go and see.’ When they had found out, they said,

‘Five, and two fish.’ Then he ordered them to get all the people to sit down in groups on the

green grass. So they sat down in groups of hundreds and of fifties. Taking the five loaves and

the two fish, he looked up to heaven, and blessed and broke the loaves, and gave them to his

disciples to set before the people; and he divided the two fish among them all. And all ate and

were filled; and they took up twelve baskets full of broken pieces and of the fish. Those who

had

eaten the loaves numbered five thousand men.

receiving it they grumbled at the house holder, saying, “these last worked only one hour, and

you have made them equal to us who have borne the burden of the day and the scorching

5. The parable of the labourers in the vineyard is the only parable that has a profound
