alarm data more easily. The number of records in the databases is reduced, and the
running speed of the system is increased.
⚫ Dumping Alarms Automatically:
You can use Overflow Dump or Periodic Dump to automatically dump the data.
◼ If you select the overflow dump mode, the NMS automatically dumps some
data to the specified path when the data exceeds the threshold.
◼ If you select the periodic dump mode, the NMS periodically dumps the data
to the specified path.
◼ Overflow dump and periodic dump can work together. In this case, the NMS
dumps the data or log according to the settings of overflow dump and
periodic dump.

without any change in its signal structure. An outloop is used to test the optical line and the
connector.
Client-side OTU outloop:
⚫ Inloop: The processed signal is transmitted from the transmit port at the local end and then
loopbacked to the receive port still at the local end. An inloop is used to test the signal
processing on the board.
Client-side OTU inloop:
⚫ Reset is a protection scheme for applications and data files on the equipment. When a board
is not running properly, you can reset the board so that it returns to the normal state. Reset is
of two types: warm reset and cold reset. A cold reset takes more time than a warm reset.
After a board is reset, the data on the board is not lost, but the resetting process may
interrupt services.
Performing a warm reset restores the applications and data to the normal state.
Warm reset usually does not affect services.
Performing a cold reset restores the applications and data to the normal state before
a CPU power failure. Cold reset usually affects services.
⚫ Resetting the SCC board:
Performing a reset to the SCC by using the NMS.
Performing a reset to the SCC by removing and inserting it.
Performing a reset to the SCC by pushing the Reset button on the SCC.
⚫ Resetting a non-SCC board:
