II. NARRATIVE REPORT

A. INTRODUCTION/RATIONALE

Reading interventions are techniques and exercises that support struggling

readers in improving their reading proficiency. Students who have trouble
decoding words into syllables are often struggling readers. Students decode words
they meet while reading by giving them a sound.
Working with our struggling readers requires the use of powerful reading
intervention techniques. Not just what we teach is important; how we teach it also
has a significant influence on student learning. Helping your struggling readers
learn to read may be achieved by implementing effective reading intervention
techniques.
During the pre-assessment of learners in reading I noticed that most of my
learners can rea, but they are having a hard time to comprehend what they have
read. With the help of the reading interventions conducted we can improve the
reading skill of our learners. Game based instruction is one of the good strategies
that I do for the learners who is having a hard time in reading. I also make sure
that my learners will read beside me before the class end.
Implementation of full face-to-face classes had a big help with these learners,
one story a day with comprehension is one of the reasons why my learners
improved a lot. I also make sure that my pupils enjoy what they are doing
especially in reading session, because many of them can already read. They also
have time to practice reading while we are doing some activities.
