What are the difficulties involved in answering questions based on a
discussion?

Because there are several speakers, we need to recognise them based on their
voices. - often, the educator will have the last say, or one student may
take the lead
Speakers tend to self-correct or correct each other. → the first answer you
hear is not always the correct answer – voice tends to go down at end of
statement to indicate that the decision has been made
‘have the last say on something’ = have the right to make a decision about
something
Speakers may move quickly between topics → it can be difficult to pinpoint
where you should be on the exam paper
signal words: Right….Ok….Now….Great...
Because the context is academic, the vocabulary can be of a higher difficulty.
