 Remedial Reading Sessions for all the identified non-readers conducted by the advisers, English and
Filipino teachers;

 Use of EGRA Tool, Phil-IRI reading passages, Project MBBM Tools, supplementary reading materials
and teacher-made literacy during reading sessions;

 Implementation of the School-Based Reading Program;

Project STAR (STudent Achiever in Reading)

 Implementation of APAW and AWAD, Project I Love Reading and Writing Too;

 Constant communication with the parents of reported non-decoders and non-comprehenders;

 Conduct of conference between teacher and parents of non-readers regarding the reading status of the
learners;

 Conduct of post-reading assessment by the School Head to assess the reading proficiency level of the

Participants

Bagna Elementary School initiated a school-based reading program entitle

Project STAR (Student Achiever in Reading) in line with DepEd Order No. 012
s.2021 that advised schools to conduct interventions for bridging learning gaps and
intensify learning gains.

Project STAR aims to create a school with a culture of readership by

decreasing the number of frustration level and non-readers readers based on the
results of Phil-IRI and EGRA Pre-Test; decreasing the number of full and moderate
refresher based on the results of CRLA Pre-Test; improving the reading
performance of all learners; and providing reading intervention and enrichment to all
learners.

In the implementation of Project STAR, the school conducted different

activities that focuses on the improvement of reading level of all the learners, this
includes:

 Implementation of APAW (A-Paragraph-A-Week) and AWAD (A-

Word-A-Day)
 Reading Buddy
 Remedial Reading Sessions by the teacher-advisers and English and
Filipino teachers
