ISLAMIC RESEARCH MANUSCRIPT SUBMISSION TEMPLATE

This template is a guide to be used to prepare manuscripts for submission. Please consult the Instructions to
Authors. This template is intended to benefit the author in that the entire manuscript (text, tables, and graphics)
may be submitted in one file. Inserting graphics and tables close to the point at which they are discussed in the text
of the manuscript can also be a benefit for the reviewer.
When you submit a manuscript using this template, you will not see the page formatting that appears in the
printed journal. This will occur as part of the editorial production process.

How to use the template

● There are many different components of a manuscript (i.e., title, abstract, main text, figure captions, etc.)
that are represented in the template. See the Instructions for Authors on the journal’s homepage to
determine which parts should be included in the manuscript that you are preparing.

● Go to the Home > Styles tab and you will see all the Word Styles from the template that has now been
imported into the current document. A Styles toolbar has been generated that will display the different
styles for you to choose from. If this is not present, type in the following command (Alt+Ctrl+Shift+S)
and it should appear. You can close this at any time and then reopen it when needed.

● Click in the sentence or paragraph and then go to the Add-Ins tab and select the relevant Word Style.
This will apply the Word Style to the entire text (sentence or paragraph). Do this for all sections of the
manuscript.

● To insert graphics within the text or as a figure, chart, scheme, or table, create a new line and insert the
graphic where desired. If your graphic is not visible, ensure that the Word Style is “ISLAMIC RESEARCH”
with an automatic height adjustment. If the size of the artwork needs to be adjusted, re-size the artwork
in your graphics program and re-paste the artwork into the template (maximum width for single-
column artwork, 3.3 in. (8.5 cm); maximum width for double-column artwork, 7 in. (17.8 cm)). NOTE: If
you are submitting a Table of Contents graphic, please insert the graphic at the end of the file.

● Ensure that page numbers are present on all pages before submitting your manuscript.

● Delete these instructions and any sections that are not needed.

● Save the file with the graphics in place: select Save As (File menu) and save it as a document file (not
a .dot template file).

● Proof the manuscript to ensure that all parts of the manuscript are present and legible.

1. INTRODUCTION
Style > ISLAMIC RESEARCH first paragraph. ISLAMIC RESEARCH only accepts the English language for the
published content. Bahasa Indonesia is accepted for the first submission, but the author will be requested to
translate the manuscript for the peer-review process. The author could select either the Journal Translation Service
or manual translation for this purpose. Use the ISLAMIC RESEARCH template to prepare the Manuscript. The
submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration. The Manuscript
should be prepared in a single file of MS Word before submission. Page size must be A4 paper format, and the
printing area is 17.5 cm x 26.2 cm. The margins should be 0.36" on the top side and 0.69" for the bottom, left, and
right sides of papers, including tables and figures. Single space should be used in your Text with a single column
layout with both left and right margins justified (i.e. flush with the left and right margins). Indent all paragraphs by
3.8 mm (0.15 inch) except those following a section heading. Do not insert an extra space between paragraphs of
text. Equations, tables, and figures should be separated from the surrounding text by additional space above and
below. The body text of the Manuscript should be within 2500 words for Short Communication, 7000 words for
Research Article, and 12000 words for Review. Abstract, Table, and Figure legends are the exception. The font for
the entire paper must be Cambria and hold Alt+CTRL+ALT+s to view the ISLAMIC RESEARCH style. Tables,
graphs, and figures–text accompanying graphs, figures, and tables should be no smaller than 8 pt. Subscripts and
superscripts must be a smaller font size than the main text. To avoid unnecessary errors you are strongly advised to
use the 'spell-check' and 'grammar-check' functions of your word processor or using Grammarly Software
https://www.grammarly.com.
Style > ISLAMIC RESEARCH Second;third Paragraph. The font color for the majority of the text should be
black, and the hyperlink should be blue. Color figures, pictures, images, and graphs are permitted and encouraged.
High-resolution figures (300 dpi) should be used. Tables and figures should appear in the text near where they are
referenced in the Text. The figure captions should be placed directly below the figure. If your figure has multiple
parts, include the labels “(a),” “(b),” “(c)”. All figures and tables must be cited in the Text. When citing a figure in the
Text, use the “Figure” and “Table” Do not leave large space below any figure or table.

The SI unit should be used throughout the paper. While Equation Editor in MS Word can be used to type
equations, MathType is recommended to type equations. Longer or more complicated equations must be typed
separately from the Text and numbered consecutively. The equation numbers should be placed in parentheses flush
right. Insert a blank line before and after equations. Avoid symbols and notation in unusual fonts. This will enhance
the Manuscript's clarity, but it will also help ensure that it displays correctly on the reader's screen and prints.

Each table must have a brief (one phrase or sentence) title that describes its contents. The title should follow the
format “Table 1. The title should be understandable without reference to the text. Type fonts are clear and legible.
Please submit tables as editable text and not as images. Tables can be placed either next to the relevant text in the
article, or on separate page(s) at the end. Number tables consecutively following their appearance in the text and
place any table notes below the table body. Be sparing in the use of tables and ensure that the data presented in
them do not duplicate results described elsewhere in the article. Please avoid using vertical rules. Please avoid the
use of prepositions “above”, “below” after the number tables indicating the position of the table to the text.

Each figure must have a caption that includes the figure number and a brief description, preferably one or two
sentences. The caption should immediately follow the figure with the format “Figure 1 Figure caption.” All figures
must be mentioned in the text consecutively and numbered with Arabic numerals. The caption should be
understandable without reference to the text. It is preferable to place the keys to symbols used in the figure in the
caption, not in the artwork. Ensure that the symbols and abbreviations in the caption agree with those in the figure
itself and the text and that the figure is already sized appropriately. Type fonts are clear and legible.

4. CONCLUSION
The main conclusions of the study may be presented in a short Conclusions section, which may stand alone or form
a subsection of a Discussion or Results and Discussion section.

References are placed at the end of the manuscript. Authors are responsible for the accuracy and completeness
of all references. Use APA for in-text citations and the reference list. Do not use footnotes. Please ensure that every
reference cited in the text is also present in the reference list (and vice versa). Any references cited in the abstract
must be given in full. Unpublished results and personal communications are not recommended in the reference list
but may be mentioned in the text. If these references are included in the reference list they should follow the
standard reference style of the journal and should include a substitution of the publication date with either
'Unpublished results' or 'Personal communication'. Citation of a reference as 'in press' implies that the item has
been accepted for publication.

In-text APA citations typically appear at the end of the sentence, between the last word and the period.
Example of parenthetical citations without the author’s name in the text:
Harlem had many artists and musicians in the late 1920s (Belafonte, 2008).

Example of a parenthetical citation when an author is mentioned in the text:

According to Belafonte, Harlem was full of artists and musicians in the late 1920s (2008).

For parenthetical citations with two authors, format your parenthetical citation like this:
Rallying to restore sanity was a revolutionary undertaking (Stewart & Colbert, 2010).

For parenthetical citations with three to five authors: Include all names in the first in-text parenthetical citation,
separated by commas and then an ampersand (&).
Rallying to restore sanity was a revolutionary undertaking (Stewart, Colbert, & Oliver, 2010).

For all subsequent in-text parenthetical citations, include only the first author, followed by “et al.” and the publication
year if it is the first citation in a paragraph.
The event resulted in thousands of participants flocking to the National Mall in support of the cause (Stewart et al.
2010).
or
Stewart et al. (2010) state that the event resulted in thousands of participants flocking to the National Mall in
support of the cause.

For parenthetical citations for six or more authors, include only the last name of the first author, followed by “et al.”
and publication year in ALL parenthetical citations.
The study did not come to any definitive conclusions (Rothschild et al., 2013).
