Basics

1. How to Turn ON, Shutdown, and Restart the Computer:

o Turn ON: Press the power button on your computer.

o Shutdown: Click on the "Start" button (usually located

at the bottom-left corner of the screen), then click on

the power icon and select "Shut down."

o Alt + F is a shortcut key to shut down pc.

o • In the Shut Down Windows dialog, select "Shut down" from

the drop-down menu and click "OK."

o Restart: Similarly, click on the "Start" button, then

click on the power icon, and select "Restart."

2. Explain Windows Interface:

o The Windows interface typically consists of a desktop,

taskbar, Start menu, and various windows and

applications.

o The desktop is where you can place shortcuts, files, and

folders.

o The taskbar is usually located at the bottom of the

screen and contains the Start button, system tray, and

icons for currently running programs.

o The Start menu provides access to programs, settings,

and files on your computer.

3. How to Create a Folder:

o Right-click on the desktop or in File Explorer.

 o Select "New" from the context menu.

o Click on "Folder."

o Name the folder and press Enter.

4. How to Rename a Folder:

o Right-click on the folder you want to rename.

o Select "Rename" from the context menu.

o Type the new name and press Enter.

5. How to Cut, Copy, Paste & Rename a File:

o Cut: Select the file, right-click, and choose "Cut" from

the context menu.

o Copy: Select the file, right-click, and choose "Copy"

from the context menu.

 o Paste: Right-click where you want to paste the file, and

choose "Paste" from the context menu.

o Rename: Right-click on the file, select "Rename," type

the new name, and press Enter.

6. Shortcut Keys for Cut, Copy, Paste:

o Cut: Ctrl + X

o Copy: Ctrl + C

o Paste: Ctrl + V

7. How to Empty & Restore Data from Recycle Bin:

o To empty the Recycle Bin, right-click on it and select

"Empty Recycle Bin."

 o To restore data from the Recycle Bin, double-click on

it to open, then right-click on the item you want to

restore and select "Restore."

8. How to Set Time and Date:

o Click on the clock in the taskbar.

o Select "Date and time settings."

o Adjust the time and date as needed.

9. How to Change or Add Language:

o Go to Settings > Time & Language.

o Select "Language" from the left pane.

o Click on "Add a language" to add a new language or

select an existing language to change its settings.

10. Shortcut Key to Change or Switch System

Language:

o Windows key + Spacebar

11. How to Create or Change PC Password:

o Go to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options.

o Under "Password," click on "Change" to change your

password or "Add" to create a new one.

12. Change Desktop Background or Theme:

o Right-click on the desktop and select "Personalize."

o Choose a background image or theme from the

available options or click on "Browse" to select a

custom image.
