ORDINANCE NO. 02 Series 2024

PREVENTION OF ADOLESCENT PREGNANCY ORDINANCE

WHEREAS, the adverse physical, emotional, and socio-economic effects of adolescent pregnancy
necessitate measures to safeguard the rights and welfare of teenagers in our barangay.

WHEREAS, it is the responsibility of the barangay to ensure responsible sexual behavior

promotion and comprehensive reproductive health education among adolescents.

WHEREAS, community engagement, parental involvement, school participation as well as other

stakeholders' cooperation are essential for effectively preventing teenage pregnancy.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED by the Sangguniang Barangay of Barangay Cupang North

that: Section 1. Comprehensive Reproductive Health Education:

The barangay shall implement an extensive program on reproductive health education in

collaboration with local schools, healthcare facilities including other relevant agencies to provide
accurate age-appropriate information on family planning techniques and responsible sexual
behavior for adolescents within the barangay.

Section Z. Promotion of Youth-Friendly Health Services:

The availability of youth-friendly health services such as confidential counseling on reproductive

health issues and access to contraceptives will be ensured by the barangay for adolescents within
its jurisdiction. These services shall be accessible without discrimination or judgment.

Section 3. Information And Counseling Services:

A center dedicated to providing non-judgmental confidential counseling services aimed at

educating teenagers about reproductive health issues will be established by this ordinance.

Section 4. Support For Parents And Guardians:

Parenting seminars and workshops geared towards equipping parents/guardians with adequate
knowledge/skills needed for effective communication with their children regarding reproductive
health matters will be conducted by this ordinance's provisions

Section 5. Regulation Of Access To Harmful Media Content:

This ordinance aims to regulate access by minors under eighteen years old from exposure harmful
explicit media content promoting unsafe sexual practices/behaviors like pornography amongst
others which can lead them into unintended pregnancies or related complications thereof

Section 6: Collaboration with Schools And Community Organizations:

Collaboration between local schools, youth organizations, and other community-based groups
shall foster educational campaigns, symposiums, and workshops aimed at fostering a culture that
promotes responsible sexual behaviors while also reducing incidences relating to teenage
pregnancies through preventive measures outlined hereinabove
SECTION VII :Reporting And Monitoring :

To track progress made thus far, the Barangay council has provided monitoring mechanisms that'll
assess efficacy levels concerning initiatives implemented under this ordinance . These progress
reports shall be submitted quarterly unto The Barangay Captain's office

SECTION VIII : Penalties :

Any individual/organization found guilty contravening any provision(s) contained herein shall face
penalties prescribed under extant laws/regulations governing adolescent pregnancy
prevention/reproductive healthcare policies

SECTION IX: Effectivity :

Fifteen days after approval/posting in conspicuous areas within its jurisdiction, this Ordinance
takes effect
