DEPARTMENT DUTIES OF 312512 - MECHANICAL ENGINEERING

· Conducts tests of mechanical systems, collects and analyses data, and assembles and
installs mechanical assemblies in support of Mechanical Engineers and Engineering
Technologists.
· Assist in mechanical engineering research, design, manufacture, construction, operation
and maintenance of machines, manufacturing equipment, mechanical installations and
facilities.
· Preparing drawings, plans and designs for mechanical engineering work under the
direction of Mechanical Engineers and Engineering Technologists.
· Assisting Mechanical Engineers and Engineering Technologists in the design of
mechanical equipment and plant.
· Selecting tools and equipment.
· Assembling and installing new and modified mechanical assemblies, components,
machine tools and controls, and hydraulic power systems.
· Estimating material costs and quantities, and machine requirements.
· Performing and directing field and laboratory tests.
· Collecting and analysing data, carrying out complex computations and preparing
diagrams.

SAMPLE 1:

· Prepare parts sketches and write work orders and purchase requests to be furnished by
outside contractors.
· Draft detail drawing or sketch for drafting room completion or to request parts fabrication
by machine, sheet or wood shops.
· Review project instructions and blueprints to ascertain test specifications, procedures,
and objectives, and test nature of technical problems, such as redesign.
· Review project instructions and specifications to identify, modify and plan
requirements fabrication, assembly and testing.
· Devise, fabricate, and assemble new or modified mechanical components for products, such

correction.

· Analyse test results in relation to design or rated specifications and test objectives,
and modify or adjust equipment to meet specifications.
· Evaluate tool drawing designs by measuring drawing dimensions and comparing with
original specifications for form and function, using engineering skills.
· Confer with technicians and submit reports of test results to engineering department
and recommend design or material changes.
· Calculate required capacities for equipment of proposed system to obtain specified
performance and submit data to engineering personnel for approval.
· Record test procedures and results, numerical and graphical data, and recommendations
for changes in product or test methods.
· Read dials and meters to determine amperage, voltage, electrical output and input at
specific operating temperature to analyze parts performance.
· Estimate cost factors, including labor and material for purchased and fabricated parts and
costs for assembly, testing, and installing.
· Set up prototype and test apparatus and operate test controlling equipment to observe and
record prototype test results.
· Operate drill press, grinders, engine lathe, or other machines to modify parts tested or to
fabricate experimental parts for testing.
· Test equipment, using test devices attached to generator, voltage regulator, or other
electrical parts, such as generators or spark plugs.

instrumentation and technologies.
· Ensuring mechanical spare parts availability for scheduled and projected jobs inclusive of
spare inventory (physical) checking and stock inspections and preliminary liaison with
Suppliers and Vendors for proposals etc.
· Equipment Problems Trouble-shooting and Basic Root Cause Analysis and Development of
Solutions.

· Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive


maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and
production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's
instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
· Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening
for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
· Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power
tools; examining form and texture of parts.
· Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using
rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
· Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels,
plumb bobs, and straightedges.
· Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance
techniques; monitoring compliance.
· Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
· Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical
publications; establishing personal networks.

· Carry out in-house and on-site installations, testing, adjusting, troubleshooting including
upgrade/repair of varied range of hydraulic, mechanical and CNC (Computer Numerical
Control) machinery.
· Carry out machine changeovers, implement machine improvements, undertake fault finding
and diagnostics.
· Ensure that design and finished work are within specifications, regulations, and contract
provisions.

· Assembling and installation of mechanical assembly: modified Pincher Plate Assembly,


Air and Hydraulic Cylinder Assembly, Punching Hold-downs Assembly, Ball Screw
Assembly, Modified Die-Punch Holder Assembly, Shearing Unit Cylinder Assembly, Marking
Drawer Unit Assembly.

· Assembling and installation of machine components: Gear Box, Servo Motors, Servo
Drives, Solenoid Valves, Air and Pneumatic Valves, Contactors, Limit Switches, Cylinders,
and Drives, modified guide rollers, Ball Screws.

· Assembling and installation of electrical components of machines: Contactors, MCBs,


ELCBs, RCCBs, Input / Output Cards.

· Installation of Machine Tools: Die-Punch, Drill Bit, Drill Insert, Cutting Blade, and
Stamping Cassette.

· Installation of controllers: Limit Switches, Pressure Switches.


· Assembling and installation of Hydraulic Power Systems: Hydraulic Pump, Solenoid
Valves, Pressure Gauges, Non-return Valves, Pressure Control Valves, and Pressure Relief
Valves.

· Estimation material costs and quantities and machine requirements:


o Ensure equipment, raw materials and tools are on hand for work execution. Reports

diagrams:
o Collect output data of machines and analyze it for find Overall
Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) – Bar chart.

o Find machine problems and do Root Cause Analysis (RAC) and make cause effect
diagrams and fish bone diagrams to get solution.
o To improve Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) and reduce Mean Time to
Repair (MTTR), collect maintenance regarding data and feed figures and make
Pareto diagram.
o Collect data of tools consumption by machine, analyze, feed in computer and
make Pie chart.

o Record test producers and results, numerical and graphical data,


and recommendation for changes in product or test methods.

· Organizing and supervising inspection and maintenance of machines and plant:


o Work as per CLIT process (Cleaning, Lubrication, Inspection and Tightening) : do
greasing and oiling of all slide, ball screw and bearings and rem/punch/holder;
Check water level of cooling tower; check marking hammer setting; check hydraulic
oil level; check working of pneumatic cylinders; check alignment of transfer table
chain; check working condition of Air conditioner system of machine panel board
and PC; Check guide rollers, springs and its condition; check marking unit drawer
guide and position; check tightness of all joints in hydraulic system.
o Prepare a test run to check if the machines produce outputs according
to specification.
o Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing
preventive maintenance requirements on engine, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor
systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations
manuals, manufacturer’s instructions and engineering specifications;
troubleshooting malfunctions.

· Ensuring that design and finished work are within specifications, regulations and
contract provisions:

o Make CNC Programs as per product drawing requirement.


o Translate instruction into computer commands so the machine can perform the
correct function.
o Setting by measuring first-run part, and sample work piece; adhering
to international standards.
o Inspect and measure finished products and compare them with requirements
to determine the process has been competed properly.

o Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts;


using rules, calipers, micrometers and measure tap.

SAMPLE 5:
· Responsible for conducting inspection & Supervision in Installation & commissioning of 600
MTPD cattle feed plant equipment in the Banas dairy plant.
· Provide technical assistance at the time of breakdowns and emergencies in Cattle Feed
plant equipment while delivering a high standard of safety.
· Working with SAP system to procuring a critical spare part of Pelleting, Grinding &
conveying Equipment’s.
· Responsible for conducting inspection in the THR packing machines installed in the banas
dairy plant.
· Involves in performing regular maintenance on the all the products under THR
packing machine.
· Design the checklist of the maintenance of the critical equipment of Cattle Feed Plant and
accordingly performs the preventive maintenance, breakdown maintenance and
maintaining the past history of critical equipment as per the standard of ISO 9001:2018.
· Responsible for conducting inspection in the THR packing machines installed in the banas
dairy plant
· Prepares the Plant machinery key parts drawings and the designs as well as machinery
spare parts also responsible for maintaining the same in the store of the plant.
· Working on the all the joints, assemblies of the THR packing machines in the plant and
ensures all the components in the mechanical system are always inspected by the senior
technician.

· Manages with the Plant packing machine preventive maintenance to ensure the work and
production doesn’t affect.
· Ensures the inspection conducted on the THR packing machine are according to the
regulations as well as the specifications.
· Responsible for preparing reports based on the maintenance activity done on the
mechanical assemblies, tools, controls of the entire Both Cattle Feed & THR plant machines.
· Involving in the supervision of the THR Packing Machines in THR plant.
· Design the checklist of the maintenance of the packing machines in the entire plant and
accordingly performs the preventive maintenance.
· Carry out machine changeovers, implement machine improvements, undertake fault finding
and diagnostics.
· Installs the mechanical equipment’s mostly in the banas dairy plant are THR(take home
ratio).
· Assisting the junior technicians for the tools handling and equipment’s maintenance also
assisting in providing preventative maintenance for all the plant packing equipment’s.
· Working with the junior technicians for all the assembling, installing the new equipment’s
as per the requirements raised by the production department.
· Providing the utility required reports.

· Involved in Inspection and assembly work of fabricated tower part.


· Involved in Inspection and assembly work of proto assembly.
· Inspection of Raw material.
· Inspection of galvanized tower parts.
· Instruments Calibration as Per the Standards
· Maintain Quality, ISO and Calibration related Documentation.
· Inspection of the entire fabricated tower parts as per the drawing and assembling
the fabricated part with the original tower part whenever it required.
· Devise, Fabricate and assemble prototype model of Tower.
· Calibration of inhouse instrument which are using for inspection.
· Responsible for men power handling to improve the productivity.
· Making the prototype model of first tower of every new order and I am responsible of the
inspection of that tower.
· Ensuring the prototype model are within the actual specifications and as per the contract
regulations.
· Make sure that the fabrication work of that tower is correct or not.
· Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using
rules, calipers, and other measuring instruments.
· Whenever it requires to make change in shop drawing, provide recommendation to the
engineering department for the changes.
· Doing the different types of tests on the steel material that company purchasing.
· Doing the test like Impact test, Hardness test, Bend Test.

· Analyze test results in relation to design or rated specifications and test objectives
and modify or adjust equipment to meet specifications.
· Record test procedures and results, numerical and graphical data, and recommendations
and after analysing result exploring material that as per desing required or not.
· Dealing with client for the sake of material.
· Check and remove defective materials and making record.
· Doing the various galvanizing test as per required standard and specification for the
zinc coating on the tower part.
· Make sure the thickness of zinc coating on part is as per our Order Requirement or not, by
using the Galvanize coating thickness meter.
· Instruments Calibration:
· Managing calibration activity at all the new instruments purchased by our company.
· The instruments are Measuring Tape, Square, Bending Gauge and Scale.
