INSTALLATION
MANUAL
1
RomanGranite Grande is the latest category from Roman which consists of 2
sub categories: Technical Porcelain and Glazed Porcelain Tiles.
Technical Porcelain has a unique design characteristic where a granular body
appears on the surface and is the hallmark of the design. “One Tone Body-
Surface” technology with a glossy polished finish is very impressive and
recommended for high traffic area.
The Glazed Porcelain Tiles are manufactured with high quality standard
production, using finest Indonesia white clay, fired at high temperature of
over 1200 ° Celsius.
RomanGranite Grande is in the class of B1A (ISO13006). Thanks to almost
zero water absorption, RomanGranit Grande is non-porous, hard, strong and
durable. Decorated with Digital Tecnica technology - the most advanced
digital printing - its beauty will last forever.

PRODUCT
INSPECTION

• Open a few boxes of granite tiles and

lay the tiles, observe the tonality and its
random effects.

6
• Make sure the product and the code is correct in accordance to purchase request.

• Also check on the tonality

to make sure the product
does not show inconsistent
tonality – if it does, stop the
tiling.

WET METHOD
WA L L

• Mortar finished brick wall should be even or flat with maximum deviation of 5mm.
If it does not flat then a layer of additional mortal cement need to be applied to
achieve a flat surface (maximum deviation of 5mm).

• Use Portland cement C1+ (standard BS82040) with sand (proportion of 1:3)
and mix it with clean water. Alternatively, can also use an instant mortar screed
and follow the manufacture installation methods.

8
• The wall surface about to be tiled must be flat and
plastered and must be dry and free of dirt, oil and other
liquid. Apply the adhesive on both sides of the tiled
area in opposite direction (using the notched trowel
with transversal direction at the back of the tiles and
longitudinal direction on the wall).

WET METHOD
FLOOR
I N S TA L L AT I O N

• The floor structure must be solid, such as reinforced

concrete with rough mortar surface.
• Make sure the floor is level and should have a
deviation of maximum 5mm to facilitate installation
and to minimize adhesive wastage. If the deviation is
more than 5mm, then the floor need an extra layer
of screed by using Portland cement C1+ (standard
BS8204) with a ratio of sand and mortar 1:3. The
instant floor mortar for screed purpose can be used
as an alternative.
• Floor screed must be dry and free from dirt, oil or
other liquid before starting tile installation.
• Apply adhesive on both sides of the tiled area
(transversal way at the back of the tiles and
longitudinal direction on the surface of the floor
screed).

10
11
NOTES • Traditional cement mortar is not recommended in the
installation of RomanGranit Grande tiles.

• Installation of RomanGranit Grande tiles is not

recommended on a surface that has been mortar
rendered smoothly, painted or coated with other
material.

• For smooth rendered mortar surface, the surface need

to be roughened to create some level of roughness;
this way to help creating a better adhesion surface
during tiling.

1.Apply the thread as starting point and use it to check on the rectangularity of the
installation. The thread can also be used as control to check the flatness of the tiled
area.
2.Mix the adhesive with clean water by using an electric mixer (mixture in
accordance to the manufacturer’s instruction).
3.Apply 3-5mm thickness of adhesive on the both sides of tiled area (at the back
of the tiles and on the top of screed-flooring). For a proper and consistent thickness
use appropriate notched trowel; size of the notch is twice the size of the intended
adhesive thickness. Apply the adhesive using the notched trowel on the transversa
direction, while on the screed flooring on the longitudinal direction (opposite direction).
4.Lay RomanGranit Grande tile on the upright position above the adhesive then pat
the tiles firmly using a rubber beater.

14
5. Insert tile spacer (recommendation: 1.5 – 2mm thick spacer) on all sides
of the tile. It will be better to use tile leveler to be able to adjust the level
of the tile.
6. Repeat point 1 – 5 for the next tile.

7. Insert the wedges into the spacer by using a plier; adjust accordingly until
even surfaces among the tiles are achieved.
8. Let the adhesive cured for at least 24 hours, and then remove the tile
leveler by gently hitting the spacer using a rubber hammer.
9. Grout for the gap can be applied 24 hours after tile installation.

ADHESIVE INFO

It is recommended to use adhesive with category C1+TE.

Pay attention to the points below and follow the instruction of product usage:
• C : Minimum Adhesion (pull of strength) = adhesive bonding ability.
• C1+ : Adhesion minimum 0.75 N/mm² (Mpa)
• T :
Thyxotropic ability to prevent the tiles from sliding (applicable for wall installation).
Maximum 10mm after 2 hours installation with reference to the weight of each
tile.
• E (Extended open time) :
measures how long for adhesive to harden and decreasing its adhesion capability
Pot life :Minimum 3 hours
Grout Nat application :Maximum 24 hours
Small trafic by foot :Maximum 2 x 24 hours
Ready to used :Maximum 4 x 24 hours

GROUT

Use Grout with epoxy-base, it does not soiled easily

and has a better acid resistance.
• Clean the gap from the dirt and other unwanted
materials prior to installation
• Apply duck tape on both sides of the gap
• Prepare the grout mixture according to instructions
• Apply the grout into the gap
• Use a stick-ball for 2-3mm grout, so that the grout
surface is even, flat and solid
