Introduction
Science

Science may be defined as describing, creating and understanding facts of human experience.
It would be impossible to achieve this object unless we evolve a system or method to study the
countless natural phenomena. Therefore, it would be better to say that science is an activity
pursued by means of scientific methodology.

There are mainly four branches in science. There are:

a. Physics
b. Chemistry
c. Biology
d. Geology and Astronomy

Chemistry

Chemistry is the branch of science which deals with the study of composition, structure,
properties and transformation of matter and the laws which govern these transformations.

- Lavoisier is the father of chemistry.

- Robert Boyle is the father of modern chemistry.
- Vant Hoff is the first person who got noble prize in chemistry.

Chemistry is the vast course. For sake of convenience, it is divided into following three main
branches:

1) Inorganic chemistry
The branch of chemistry which deals with the study of all matters except hydrocarbon
and its derivatives is called inorganic chemistry. It includes study of properties,
structure and uses of inorganic compounds.
2) Organic chemistry
The branch of chemistry which deals with the study of hydrocarbons and its derivatives
is called organic chemistry. It includes study of properties, structure and uses of organic
compounds.

3) Physical chemistry
The branch of chemistry which deals with physical changes, physical properties etc.
that takes place in matter quantitatively. It includes electrochemistry, chemical kinetic,
thermodynamics, etc.

Some other branches

1) Nuclear chemistry
It is the branch of chemistry which deals with nuclear phenomena such as radioactivity,
nuclear transmutation, nuclear fusion, nuclear fission, development of nuclear energy,
origin and separation of isotopes etc.
2) Industrial chemistry
It is the branch of chemistry which deals with composition. Preparation and properties
of materials which are used in our daily life such as glass, fertilizers insecticides,
cement, fibers, ceramics etc.
3) Bio-Chemistry
It is the branch of chemistry which deals with bio-chemical phenomenon like genetics,
nutrition, physiology etc.
4) Agricultural chemistry
It is the branch of chemistry which deals with chemical knowledge which is required
in the agricultural field like proper use of fertilizers, insecticides etc.
5) Analytical chemistry
It is the branch of chemistry which deals with the study of internal constitution of matter
through practical work in laboratories.
