1) A motor boat can travel 30 km upstream and 28

km downstream in 7 hours. It can travel 21 km
upstream and return in 5 hours. Find the speed of
the boat in still water and the speed of the stream.
2) Form a pair of linear equations in two variables
using the following information and solve it
graphically.
Five years ago, Sita was twice as old as Rema. Ten
years later Sita’s age will be 10 years more than
Rema’s age. Find their present ages.
3) Raghav scored 70 marks in a test, getting 4 marks
for each correct answer and losing 1 mark for each
wrong answer. Had 5 marks been awarded for
each correct answer and 2 marks been deducted
for each wrong answer then Raghav would have
scored 80 marks. How many questions were there
in the test?
4) Three lines x+ 3y =6 , 2x-3y = 12 and x=0 are
enclosing a beautiful triangular park. Find the
points of intersection of the lines graphically and
 the area of the park if all the measurements are in
km.
5) Eight men and 12 boys can finish a piece of work
in 10 days while 6 men and 8 boys can finish it in
14 days. Find the time taken by one man and one
boy alone to finish the work.

by the line with y-axis.

9) The owner of a taxi company decides to run all the
taxi on CNG fuels instead of petrol and diesel. The taxi
charges in city comprises fixed charge together with the
charge for the distance covered.For a journey of 13 km ,
the charge paid is Rs 129 and for journey of 22km the
charge paid is Rs 210.What will a person have to pay for
travelling a distance of 32 km?
10)The area of a rectangular field gets reduced by 80
square units if its length is reduced by 5 units and the
breadth is increased by 2 units.If we increase the length
by 10 units and decrease the breadth by 5 units , the area
is increased by 50 sq units
i) Find the length and breadth of the rectangular
field.
ii)If one tree needs one sq unit ,in which
rectangular field more number of trees can be
planted.
