Product description
▯ Undercut anchor for prior insertion (FZA bolt version and internally-threaded anchor
FZA-I) and push-through installation (FZA-D bolt version).
▯ A cylindrical conical hole with an undercut is produced with the Drill bit FZUB in one
work process.
▯ When setting the anchor, the anchor sleeve is driven over the cone with a hammer (or
setting tool) and fills the undercut hole with a positive fit.
Installation examples
Advantages/benefits
▯ Suitable for cracked and non-cracked concrete.
▯ Positive fit in the undercut gives additional safety.
▯ Virtually expansion-free operation allows cost-efficient fixing with very small edge and
axial spacing.
▯ Single-step drilling process simultaneously produces the undercut, saving installation
time.
▯ Immediate load-bearing capability avoids installation interruptions (no interruption for
resin curing times, unlike chemical anchors)
▯ Simple visual inspection of the green ring mark ensures 100% function.

Type of installation
▯ Prior insertion (FZA and FZA-I) and push-through installation (FZA-D).

Installation tips
▯ Use the A4 stainless steel FZA outdoors and in damp rooms, and the highly corrosion
resistant C-steel (material no. 1.4529) in aggressive atmospheres.

HIGH PERFORMANCE STEEL ANCHORS

fischer Zykon anchor FZA

Installation sequence
The drill-hole
With the Zykon Universal Bit, a cylindrical hole is drilled until the depth stop rests on the
surface of the concrete. A circular deflection movement of the electric drill allows conical
undercutting of the hole. It provides the anchor the exact undercut which is needed for the
positive locking fit which is virtually free of expansion pressure.

High performance
steel anchors
The Zykon Anchor
can therefore be placed in a highly practical, simple and easy manner, with a hand
hammer or hammer drill. In this process, the expansion sleeve is pushed over the tapered
bolt and fits into the completed undercut to provide a positive grip.

The check
The user can see at a glance, that the anchor is firmly in place: the green marking ring is
visible and the anchor sleeve is at least 1 mm behind the surface of the concrete. Once
the correct installation torque has been applied, the anchor can be subjected to immediate
loading.

References
Elbtunnel, Hamburg
The 4th tube of the Hamburg Elbtunnel, measuring 2,560 metres in length, contains a
stainless-steel fireproof ceiling which was installed using 30,000 fischer Zykon
Anchors of type FZA. The principal requirements were: optimum number and dimensio-
ning of the anchors and anchor plates, high loads at very low edge distances and axial
spacings, highly corrosion-resistant stainless steel 1.4529, reliable function in diamond
drill holes and concrete strengths of 75 N/mm². The fischer Zykon anchor FZA fulfilled all
the requirements and was used in the size 22 x 125 M 16/25 and in the special size
22 x 225 M 16/25.

Athens International Airport

The international airport Eleftherios Venizelos in Athens covers a total area of 1,244 hecta-
res, the main terminal with 14 gates and 4 building levels 160,000 m². Safety has the top
priority. The use of earthquake-resistant anchors was an requirement for this airport. More
than 46,000 Zykon anchors were used, e.g. for installing stairways and ladders, gene-
rators, supply pipes, storage containers, for the installation of pre-cast concrete
parts, panelling and facades. The Zykon Anchors were used in sizes M 10, M 12 and
M 16, both in stainless-steel and zinc-galvanized versions.

City Hall, London

The new home for the Greater London Authority. Construction works for the City Hall - the
new home for the Greater London Authority at the More London development - started
at the end of 2000. The built form of City Hall is a distinctive glass globe, with a purpose
built assembly chamber and offices for 400 staff to support the Mayor. The building
stands fifty metres high, with 21,700 sq.m. of floor space spread over 10 floors. The
fixing detail for the City Hall´s curtain walling system was an especially for this light-
weight concrete designed 18 x 100 fischer Zykon-Anchor.

Product description
▯ Anchor bolt for push-through installation.
▯ When the hexagonal nut is tightened, the tapered bolt is pulled into the expansion clip
and expands it against the hole wall.

Advantages/benefits
▯ Suitable for cracked and non-cracked concrete.
▯ Patented double-shell expansion clip ensures even distribution of the load for high per-
missible loads.
▯ Small edge and axial spacing for structural elements.
▯ Perfectly sliding expansion clip guarantees secure controlled expansion, even in cracked
concrete.
▯ Coated hexagon nut allows easy disassembly.

Type of installation
▯ Preferably for push-through installation.

Installation tips
▯ For series installation we recommend the FABS anchor bolt setting tool.
▯ Before driving in, the hexagon nut must be brought into the optimal installation position
(the bolt projects by 2 to 3 mm).
▯ Use the A4 stainless steel FAZ outdoors and in damp rooms, and the highly corrosion-
resistant C-steel (material no. 1.4529) in aggressive atmospheres.
▯ For fixings in oblong holes, use the FAZ GS with a large washer as per DIN 9021.

approved for Product description

suitable for ▯ Heavy-duty sleeve anchor for push-through installation.
  cracked and non-cracked concrete
 natural stone, dense structure ▯ When the hexagon nut or screw is tightened, the cone is pulled into the expansion
sleeve, tensioning it against the hole wall.

Advantages/benefits
▯ Suitable for cracked and non-cracked concrete.
▯ The half-moon-shaped recesses stamped in the sleeve effect contraction in length when
Installation examples tightened. This clamps the item being attached firmly against the concrete surface.
▯ No protruding thread with the FH-S, FH-H and FH-SK versions.
▯ Cap nut, hexagon-head screw or countersunk head for visible fastenings with sophistica-
ted design.
▯ All anchors can be removed flush with the surface.

Type of installation
▯ Preferably push-through installation.

Installation tips
▯ Use A4 stainless steel outdoors or in damp rooms (not part of the official approval).

Product description
▯ Anchor bolt for push-through installation.
▯ When the hexagonal nut is tightened, the tapered bolt is pulled into the expansion clip
and expands it against the hole wall.

Advantages/benefits
Bolt FBN 8 H ▯ Suitable for non-cracked concrete.
▯ Long thread allows stand-off installation and variable usable lengths.
▯ 8 to 16 mm diameter also for reduced anchoring depths, e.g. for small loads or if rein-
forcement is encountered.
▯ Special expansion clip design gives optimal grip, including low-quality concrete.

approved for Type of installation

suitable for ▯ Preferably push-through installation.
  non-cracked concrete
 natural stone, dense structure
Installation tips
▯ For series installation we recommend the FABS anchor bolt setting tool.
▯ Before driving in, the hexagon nut must be brought into the optimal installation position
(the bolt projects by 2 to 3 mm).
▯ Use the A4 stainless steel FBN outdoors or in damp rooms.
▯ For wooden structures use the FBN GS with a large washer as per DIN 440.

1)
The anchorage of the Cavity Fixing FHY is permissible only in hollow-slab ceilings of prestressed concrete, the width of whose
cavities is not more than 4.2 times the web width. The fixing may also be used as multiple fastening for anchoring lightweight
ceiling coverings and underceilings to DIN 18168 on hollow-slab ceilings of prestressed concrete, and for statically similar
anchorages up to 1.0 kN/m 2. When external loads are suspended from the prestressed-concrete hollow-slab ceilings, the shea-
ring loadbearing capacity must be reduced. For fastening lightweight ceiling coverings and underceilings, to DIN 18168, this
reduction is not necessary.
2)
For edge distances cmin < c ≦ ccr the permissible loads may be determined by linear interpolation.
3)
The permissible load applies for a pair of fixings. The permissible load for the most highly stressed fixing must not exceed the values
stated for the single fixing.
For pairs of fixings with min axial distances of smin1.2 < s1.2 < scr1.2 the permissible load may be interpolated linearly. The linear
value at s1.2 = scr1.2 for the pair of fixings with tensile load applied, may be assumed to be twice the permissible load for the single
fixing.
4)
Only threaded rods marked in accordance with the approval may be used.
5)
With hexagon bolts with shaft to DIN EN 24014, the shaft length must be ≦ tfix.
