Exercise Area East Jurong Channel (Singapore)

Equipment Needed Approved Radar-ARPA Simulator/ECDIS Simulator/FMBS


The practical exercise shall be carried out and shall be performed individually in
an approved simulator. The student must demonstrate the required exercise
outcome according to performance standard within time prescribed.
Condition
To demonstrate the required outcome, the student must be able to perform the
criteria set out.

Channel. The harbor pilot just disembarked and already briefed the Master of the

Expected traffic:
Two inbound ships, one coming out from Sultan Shoal anchorage, one from sea
which just picked up the pilot inbound, one container ship is outbound; one
inbound from the south and the other (5) ships in the area with unknown
destination.

1. Check if the Instructor’s station is connected to all ship stations.


2. Load the scenario and check Initial Conditions.
3. Set Throttle as per initial condition.
4. Distribute student’s copy. Conduct briefing & preparation, questions will not
be entertained once the exercise scenario starts.
5. Assign the cadets to their designated Ship Bridge station.

7. Exercise will only be stopped when any of the following occurs:
- Exercise duration has expired
- Ownship has collided with any target vessel or navigational hazards
- Ownship has run aground due to failure in position check-up.
8. Save scenario to Save Record File.
9. Conduct debriefing.

Briefing As per briefing checklist.

1. Set up radar-ARPA to optimum performance.


2. Track all targets within 3 nm range and succeeding targets appearing on
radar display.
3. Keep track of the possible critical target(s).
4. Proceed towards the Western B pilot station then join the TSS on your way
westbound.
StudentTasks 5. Keep 0.1 nmiles minimum distance to all other ships.
6. Keep your speed between 6.0 to 12 knots from WP1 to WP2.
7. After passing WP 2 increase your ship speed upto 16 knots.
8. Keep minimum UKC at 15.0 m
9. Set up radar parallel index lines to ownship port and starboard sides.
