EMD 111 – Engineering Drawing

SEM I – 2021/2022

Workshop-1 (Lettering and Sketching) 4 November 2021

General Instructions
 Draw border lines on your A3 papers at 10mm from the paper side.
 Do NOT delete construction lines upon the completion of the sketch, but please make sure
that the construction lines are drawn lightly using only 0.3 mm pencil.
 Uniform thickness and darkness of lines should be maintained throughout.
 Please write your NAME, MATRIX, WORKSHOP TITLE AND DATE in the title block using these
letters and numerals format as well, at h = 3 – 4 mm. Therefore, the size of title block must
fit all your information.
 Happy learning.

Part-A
 Use only A3 paper for this part.
 Draw the LETTERS and NUMERALS (follow exactly the example given in the figure below).
 You need to repeat the letters and numerals twice. The first set with h = 10 mm and the
second set with h = 5 mm. Position each set evenly and neatly to occupy the paper space.
 Use ruler to draw thin and blur grid lines.
 Freehand sketch all letters and numerals.
 Refer to notes below for more elaboration and guideline about letters and numbers.

Part-B
 Use only A3 paper for this part.
 Freehand sketch the objects given using the estimated size given in each figure.
 Write the title of each sketch, below it, using capital letters at height size of 3 mm.
 Use 0.3 mm pencil to sketch construction line, but the final object line must use 0.5 or 0.7
mm pencil.
 Try to fit a few sketches on each page. You can use as many A3 papers as you like.
 The use of ruler is NOT allowed, unless directed in the specific question.
 DO NOT delete construction lines. Just make sure all construction lines are thin and blur.
