Aklan is my province and I'm proud to be an Aklanon. Aklan is one of the provinces that
comprise Region VI or Western Visayas. Aklan became a province in 1956 through the RA 1414
signed by President Ramon Magsaysay. It separated from the province of Capiz on April 25,
1956. Aklan derived from Akean River has a unique dialect and difficult for other ethnic groups
because of the slash l and became e. The pronunciation like kaeo, kaeamay, euganeugan make
the Aklan dialect unique. Aklan has a lot of beauty spots we can be proud of. Boracay island
located at the western tip of Panay belongs to the Municipality of Malay is one of the famous
beach in the world. The white sand beach as fine as sugar. In Batan where I lived is noted for the
Ob Ob Hill. A rocky boulder by the seashore. There are also lots beach resorts like
Aroma,Mamburise and Borabocay. When it comes to delicacies, Batan is famous for its delicious
Royal Bibingka freshly baked at barangay Mandong. Batan is also rich in seafoods. If you're
looking for talaba and mussels or tahong, the town of New Washington abounds. Altavas is also
noted for their putong tostado. Malinao has their famous "sapinsapin". Speaking of industry
Nabas is famous for their hats, mats etc made of baliw. Ibajay has their products made of nito.
Another thing that made Aklan famous is the Atiatihan festival in Kalibo, Batan, Ibajay, Makato,
Altavas, Malinao and Boracay. This is to give honor to the Stonino or Holy Child believed by the
natives to be the God of Rain and prosperity. Batan Atiati is purely historical while that of Ibajay
is devotional setting aside that of Kalibo which is commercialize.

Aklan Culture is a treasure trove of vibrant customs, enchanting festivals, and rich traditions.
From its historical roots to its contemporary challenges, Aklan's cultural heritage remains a
source of pride for its people. By diving into the colorful tapestry of Aklan culture, we gain a
deeper understanding of its significance and the importance of preserving this legacy for future
generations. Let us celebrate and embrace the beauty of Aklan culture, ensuring its continuity for

Reflection in Philosophical Perspective of the Self

What is a human being? What exactly is the purpose of our existence? What does it
mean to be “Human” exactly? We humans have been attempting to discover solutions to these
questions since the beginning of time. In order to methodically study and analyze all areas of
human existence to find the answer to our question, we turned to the ally of logic and reason:

Philosophy, to discover the solution to the question of what precisely is the “Human
Self”. Under our UTS subject, I was exposed to several ideas on what a human being is from
some of the greatest philosophers of all time. We learned how the triumvirate of Master-
Student philosophers, Socrates, Plato, (ST.) Augustine, (ST) Thomas Aquinas, Rene Descartes,
David Hume, Immanuel Kant, Gilbert Ryle, andlastly Merleau-Ponty, thought through their
writings and readings. We now have firsthand knowledge of our own inner selves.

The fundamental ideas of understanding the self were presented by Socrates and Plato. They
believe that in order to be happy, one must he know the self. No one could do something he
does not know. He will only run into trouble. Socrates viewed the self as the same as the soul,
which is unchanging, eternal and immortal. One can further know the self by the activity of soul
searching. In addition, Plato believes that the self has three parts: reason, passion and physical
appetite. Individuals who could make their reason governing over their passion and appetite
would be able to experience genuine happiness.

Aristotle suggested that ma is a rational animal, which makes him comprehend things and
achieve a healthy and fulfilling life. St. Augustine explained the self as something that needs to
be united with Good through faith and reason. For Rene Descartes, the mere fact that we are
thinking about the self is a proof that there is a self.

Understanding the self

Reflection in Philosophical Perspective of the Self

Understanding the must ideas eying on the nature of the self in quite on interesting to do. A lot
of challenge goes with being able to learn about what the self really is. Thus, it became a good
topic of interest in the field of philosophy.
The fundamental ideas of understanding the self were presented by Socrates and Plato. They
believe that in order to be happy, one must he know the self. No one could do something he
does not know. He will only run into trouble. Socrates viewed the self as the same as the soul,

achieve a healthy and fulfilling life. St. Augustine explained the self as something that needs to
be united with Good through faith and reason. For Rene Descartes, the mere fact that we are
thinking about the self is a proof that there is a self.
Other philosophers like John Locke viewed the self as developed from what our senses
tell us. The experiences from our senses give a form to ourselves. On the other hand, David
Hume denies the existence of self. According to him the self is just a result of imagination. For
Sigmund Freud, the self is multilayered. It may be conscious, or in a way is rational,
unconscious, or determined by the pleasure principle: or preconscious, which is in between the
two. Immanuel Kant’s idea of the self is quite different. He explained the self builds its own
reality, using reason to transcend and surpass sense experience. He stated that “we create the
self”. For Gilbert Ryle, the self is the way people act or behave. Unlike most philosophers, he
described the self as they came with bodily behaviour.
My philosophy is that the Human Person was given the ability to process thought to
search or seek for and find his goal. Each person has a specific goal, a contribution he must
make to repay his existence, whether to nature or God. Without a goal, we are no more that
animals who have the capacity to think, and we are no more than lucky beasts. To the best of
my knowledge and philosophical capabilities. I conclude that the Human Person, the “I,” is the
unique unity of a “whole” functioning Body with a “whole” functioning Consciousness that is
the product of our brains’ activity, whether we name it “Soul” or “Mind”. To the best of my
understanding, the unique oneness is unique to the Homo sapiens race on planet. The Human
Person, the “I,” was given this capacity in order to seek a purpose and therefore prove his
existence as an “I” throughout his short life in the world.
Various philosophers here venous ideas on the nature of the self. I, in turn, was
encouraged to take a deeper look on the existence and purpose of the self. I realized that being
able to understand the self is the key to enjoying a happy life. If you know who you are and
what your potentials are, you will be able to utilize your talents in the best way possible. For
me, the self is what we want it to be; and therefore, nobody can define the self as accurately as
the self itself. I cannot define yourself because it is you who decides about what you want it to
be, in the same manner that you cannot define mine. The self, for me, is unique for each
individual who lives and breathes under the same sky at the same time.

ABSTRACT

The studying of the impact of a healthy lifestyle on the psychological well-being of university
students involves conducting research to understand how various aspects of a healthy lifestyle,
such as regular exercise, balanced nutrition, sufficient sleep, stress management, and social
connection, influence the mental health and well-being of students in higher education settings.

Researchers investigate the relationship between engaging in regular physical activity, such as
exercise or sports, and its effects on reducing symptoms of anxiety and depression, improving
mood, and enhancing overall mental well-being. Studies explore how exercise stimulates the
release of endorphins, which are neurotransmitters responsible for promoting feelings of
happiness and relaxation, thereby contributing to improved mental health outcomes.

Additionally, the impact of maintaining a balanced and nutritious diet on supporting mental
health is examined. Research focuses on how consuming a variety of nutrient-rich foods can
provide essential vitamins and minerals that support cognitive function and mood regulation.
The importance of hydration and avoiding excessive consumption of stimulants like caffeine
and alcohol in promoting better mental health outcomes is also explored.
The role of adequate sleep in impacting psychological well-being is another key area of study.
Researchers investigate how quality sleep is essential for cognitive function, emotional
regulation, and overall mental health, particularly in the context of university students who
often face challenges related to irregular sleep patterns due to academic demands and lifestyle
factors.

Furthermore, effective stress management techniques, such as mindfulness, meditation, and

time management, are analyzed for their ability to help students cope with academic pressure,
reduce anxiety, and enhance resilience in the face of challenges. The significance of building
strong social connections and seeking support from friends, family, or mental health
professionals in enhancing psychological well-being and fostering a sense of belonging and
community is also a focus of research in this area.
In conclusion, the research on the impact of a healthy lifestyle on the psychological well-being
of university students aims to provide insights into how adopting self-care practices and
wellness strategies can positively influence mental health outcomes, resilience, mood, and
overall well-being during the academic journey of students in higher education.

INTRODUCTION

The psychological well-being of university students is a critical aspect of their overall health and
academic success. As students navigate the demands of higher education, they often face
challenges related to stress, anxiety, and mental health issues. In recent years, there has been a
growing recognition of the importance of promoting healthy lifestyle practices to support
students' psychological well-being. This introduction explores the impact of a healthy lifestyle
on the mental health and well-being of university students, highlighting the significance of
adopting positive lifestyle behaviors for optimal psychological outcomes.

Maintaining a healthy lifestyle encompasses various factors, including regular physical activity,
balanced nutrition, sufficient sleep, stress management, and social connections. These
components play a crucial role in influencing students' mental health and emotional resilience
during their university years. Research has shown that engaging in healthy behaviors can have a
profound impact on reducing stress, improving mood, enhancing cognitive function, and
promoting overall well-being among students.
The university environment presents unique challenges and opportunities for students to
prioritize their health and well-being. Academic pressures, social expectations, and lifestyle
changes can impact students' mental health, making it essential to understand how healthy
lifestyle choices can support psychological well-being. By investigating the effects of physical
activity, nutrition, sleep quality, stress management techniques, and social support on students'
mental health, researchers can uncover valuable insights into promoting a positive campus
culture that prioritizes holistic well-being
This study aims to explore the relationship between a healthy lifestyle and the psychological
well-being of university students, shedding light on the ways in which lifestyle choices can
influence mental health outcomes. By examining the impact of healthy behaviors on stress
levels, mood regulation, academic performance, and overall quality of life, this research seeks
to provide evidence-based recommendations for promoting mental wellness and resilience
among university students. Ultimately, understanding the role of a healthy lifestyle in
supporting psychological well-being is essential for creating a supportive and thriving campus
environment where students can flourish academically and emotionally.

LITERATURE REVIEW

The impact of a healthy lifestyle on the psychological well-being of university students has been
a subject of considerable research. Studies have consistently shown that maintaining healthy
habits can significantly enhance mental health and overall well-being among students.
A literature review highlighted that university students who engage in regular physical activity
tend to experience better psychological well-being. Exercise has been shown to reduce
symptoms of depression and anxiety, improve mood, and enhance overall quality of life.
Activities like Tai Chi and yoga, in particular, have been found to be especially effective in
alleviating depressive symptoms compared to team sports.
Nutrition also plays a critical role in students' mental health. Adherence to healthy dietary
patterns, such as the Mediterranean diet, is associated with lower levels of stress and better
psychological well-being. Conversely, poor dietary habits, which often include high
consumption of fast food and sugary drinks, are linked to higher levels of anxiety and
depression
Stress management is another key factor. High levels of stress, common among university
students due to academic pressures, can negatively impact mental health. Implementing stress
reduction techniques, such as mindfulness and resilience training, along with promoting
physical activities and healthy eating, can mitigate these effects
Overall, the promotion of a healthy lifestyle encompassing regular physical activity, balanced
nutrition, and effective stress management is crucial for the psychological well-being of
university students. Universities can support this by providing resources and programs that
encourage these healthy habits.

LIMITATION
When conducting research on the impact of a healthy lifestyle on the psychological well-being
of university students, several limitations should be acknowledged. Here are some potential
limitations to consider for your research paper:
Subjectivity: Responses may be influenced by students' perceptions and biases.
Accuracy: Participants may not accurately recall their lifestyle habits or psychological states.
Causality: It’s challenging to establish causal relationships between lifestyle and psychological
well-being.
Snapshot: Data is collected at a single point in time, which may not reflect long-term patterns.
Representation.A limited or homogenous sample may not represent the broader student
population.
Generalizability: Findings from a specific group of students (e.g., from one university or
academic program) may not be applicable to all university students.
Validity and Reliability: The tools used to assess lifestyle and psychological well-being need to
be validated and reliable.
Comprehensiveness: Instruments might not cover all aspects of lifestyle or psychological health.
Environmental Influences: Factors such as social support, academic pressure, and personal
circumstances can also impact psychological well-being.

Uncontrolled Variables: Other lifestyle factors (e.g., sleep, diet, exercise) may confound results
if not adequately controlled.

Seasonal Variation: Students’ lifestyle habits and psychological states might vary across the
academic year.

Short-Term vs. Long-Term Effects: The study might not capture long-term impacts of lifestyle
changes.

Social Desirability: Participants might respond in ways they believe are socially acceptable
rather than truthful.

Non-Response: Students who choose not to participate might differ significantly from those
who do, potentially biasing the results.

Consent and Confidentiality: Ensuring informed consent and protecting participants’ privacy
can limit the depth of data collected.
Stress and Discomfort: Discussing psychological well-being might cause discomfort for some
participants.

Title:Cousin bonding in the waterfall
On a hot summer day, cousins Quennie and Mikaila decide to organize an outing
with their cousins JM, Briane, and Myka. They thought of going to Busay, a place
famous for its deep river and beautiful scenery of nature.
Before their trip, they planned carefully and brought toiletries, food, and other
supplies. When they arrived in Busay, they did not immediately go to the river.
Instead, they decided to go for a walk first and enjoy the beauty of nature.
After a few minutes of walking, they reached the river. They couldn't contain their
excitement anymore and immediately got dressed in their bathing suits. Quennie
and Mikaila were the first to hit the cold water, followed quickly by their
companions. The blue river seems to give peace and security to their hearts.
They walked along the river, observing the beauty of nature around. As they walk,
they talk about their dreams and future plans in life.
When they reached a deep part of the river, they couldn't contain their joy and
paddled into the cold water. Their laughter and shouts show their happiness in
being together in such a place.
Heavy rain suddenly poured down, but it didn't stop their fun. Instead, it
strengthened their friendship and unity. Under the rain, they continued to laugh
and talk, strengthening their bond.
In the end, even though their walk in Busay was short due to the rain, cousins
Quennie and Mikaila, along with JM, Briane, and Myka, brought home happy
memories and full of love. Their walk under the rain was special and they will
never forget.

Cousin bonding at the waterfall is truly a special and unforgettable experience.

The connection and camaraderie that cousins share on such outings is priceless. It
was heartwarming to hear the joy and togetherness that the cousins experienced
during their time at the waterfall. Bonding with the beauty of nature like a
waterfall not only creates happy memories but also strengthens the bond
between family members. It's moments like these that create lasting bonds and
cherished memories for a lifetime.

The Culminating Reflection includes Hip-Hop Dance and Volleyball

Volleyball is a popular team sport that involves a lot of coordination, communication,

and teamwork while dance is a form of expression that combines physical movement, rhythm,
and music to convey emotions, tell stories, and connect with others through movement.

The day of volleyball and dance training is an exciting time for both new and
experienced teams. It’s an opportunity to learn the fundamentals of the game and dance, meet
new teammates, and get a feel for team dynamics. And also it is an opportunity for new player
like me in volleyball to learn the basics of the game, while experienced players can refine their
techniques and strategies.

The first day of volleyball and dance training focusing on locomotor and non-locomotor
movements typically begins with a introduction to be fundamentals of both sports, including
proper posture, foot placement, and basic movements. The training session typically starts with
a dynamic warm-up to get the players’ hearts rate up and prepare their muscles for physical
activity. This can be included light jogging, jumping jacks, or high knees. After the warm-up,
players will stretch to prevent injuries and improve flexibility. And then focus on teaching the
fundamental techniques of volleyball, such as serving, passing, setting, and spiking. Players will
learn proper form and technique for each skill, and then practice them in small groups or pairs.

The second day of training in volleyball and dance techniques, including locomotor and
non-locomotor movements involve travelling across the court, such as running to receive a
serve or moving to block an attack. Non-locomotor movement in volleyball might include
setting, spiking, or digging. In dance practice locomotor movements like walking, running,
gallop, or jumping, as well as non-locomotor movements like arm waves, leg lifts, swing or
turns.

By the third day of training have had time to absord and practice the techniques that I
have learned, including locomotor and non-locomotor movements is both volleyball and dance.
That may be able do to showcase my progress in a short performance or demonstration. And
also after the training session, players will participate in a cool-down period, which might
include gentle stretching or light cardio to help prevent injuries and reduce muscle soreness.

And the day of competition we perform the locomotor and non-locomotor movements both
volleyball and dance in good method. Overall, volleyball training activities can be highly
beneficial for players looking to improve ours’ skills, teamwork, strategic understanding,
physical fitness, and mental preparation. By participating in these activities at all, players can
become more well-rounded players and enjoy greater success on the court.

The Culminating Reflection includes Hip-Hop Dance and Basketball

Basketball is a popular team sport that a game played between two teams of five
players each on a rectangular court, usually indoors while the dance is a beautiful and
expressive art form that allows individuals to convey emotions, tell stories, and connect with
others through movement.

The first day of basketball training typically involves introducing players to the
fundamentals of the game, may start by practicing dribbling, passing, and basic shooting
techniques and also with different parts of dribbling such as hands, fingers, and wrists, to
improve ball control and coordination. In dance, the first day often focus on basic footwork,
posture, and alignment. I learn various type of step, such as walking, skipping, swaying,
stretching, turning, rotation, running, marching, and sliding, as well as different parts of the
body, like the head titles, arms and torso twists to create fluid and expressive choreography.

The second day of training in basketball I’m work on footwork drills to enhance agility
and speed on the court incorporating pivot movements, shuffling, free throws, jumping, and
defensive techniques. In dance I explore how to incorporate leg extensions, hip rotations, and
shoulder isolations into your routines to add dynamic range and expression to my movement,
and also different rhythms, timing, and spatial awareness.

The third day of training, I start to see how mastering locomotor and non-locomotor
movements with different body parts can elevate my performance in both basketball and
dance. In basketball, I feel more confident in my ability to manoeuvre around opponents,
execute quick changes in direction and make precise movements with various body parts to
outmanoeuvre defenders. In dance, I feel more connected to the music and the emotions that
trying to convey, using my body parts with intention and precision to create captivating and
impactful choreography.
