Volunteering for a good cause must be instilled from a very young age as it brings
out the humane qualities of an individual. It is also very important to give back to

Annual Gayathri Yagna was conducted on 8.1.23. D.A.V group of schools performed Havan.
The students from the schools also presented many programs.
Final Havan was conducted on 17.2.2023 for classes X and XII. Secretary
Shri. Vikas Arya delivered the key note address to students on “Para Vidya and Apara Vidya”.
Here is the gist of the key note address.
As per the Upanishads, every man must be enlightened and educated on two different things.
The first one is Knowledge about external things in the world, also known as Apara Vidya.
This is what we commonly learn in schools as physics, chemistry, mathematics etc. The
second one is Knowledge about Self, Self-Realization, one's character and the Ultimate
Power. This is also known as Para Vidya. Para Vidya is more important in life than the latter.
Dharma: - Dharma is a Sanskrit non-translatable word. Dharma is what is known as a
person’s duty in life. Every living and non-living thing in this universe has a dharma, even
fire, trees, water, and us humans. The word Dharma is often misunderstood as a direct link to
following religious customs. However, this is wrong. All substances have a dharma, but all
substances do not have a religion. The Dharmic way of life was first known to mankind
through the Vedas. Although most religions trace to have originated about 1000-3000 years
back, the Vedas were as old as mankind, The Vedas do not support any religion in any of its
mantras.
44 | P a g e
Rebirth: - High level of intelligence at a young age, as taken in the example of a young boy,
can be an effect of rebirths. Rebirth or Punarjanma is when the soul moves from one body to
other after death. Rebirthed beings usually tend to remember some information about their
past lives. However, rebirth cannot be directly linked to any young person being highly
intelligent as this could be because of other reasons such as heredity or control of spirits.
Struggle for Success: - If a human wants to achieve success, he must struggle. No human
can achieve success without practical application of his knowledge. We must not only
identify certain problems in the society but also work our way to solve them. Simply
complaining about a problem may not be fruitful, however working towards a solution
develops the minds thinking power, even if it yields failure. Failure is the first steps to
success as long as we don’t give up on working hard.
Types of Knowledge: -
Knowledge can be classified into three subtypes based on the source of it.
1. Pratyaksh Praman: - Knowledge acquired by experiencing it through the five senses of
the body (sight, hearing, taste, smell, feeling)
2. Anumaan Praman: - Knowledge based on assumptions and estimations regarding it. This
mode of knowledge may not be 100% accurate.
3. Shabdha Praman: - Knowledge acquired by reading/listening to a source, which can be a
person or a book.
Other things that were mentioned are the Pancha Maha Yajna, the Cycle of Life, and the main
Dharma of a human being.

Health Club
“A healthy life is not a choice, but a priority.” To induce the importance of this often
overlooked aspect of our life, our school started the health club, which has been one of the
most active clubs. Right from its creation, our health club has been arranging and conducting
various events and contests for students of all classes to participate and learn. The academic
year of 2022-2023 has been extremely fruitful with the health club being one of the most
active clubs. Numerous engaging and enlightening programmes and activities were
conducted. A commendable highlight of this year's events is the fact that a majority of them
were presented by the senior students themselves, making these special and memorable for
the audience. The club is grateful to the coordinators, participants and volunteers for making
every activity planned, a grand success.
Inauguration Ceremony
The club kick started the year's journey with the inauguration ceremony on July 19th 2022.
The event began with an invocation song by students of class 8. Following the pledge of all
three clubs read out by students of class 10, students of class 9 and 10 were enlightened with
the recent achievements in the field of science, environment and health, which was well
appreciated and well received by the audience. The list of events planned for the academic
year by all the three clubs were shared with the students who responded with enthusiasm. On
the whole, the event was a well organised and a well-executed one.
Importance of Breakfast
The first activity, scheduled for the fourth week of July, was on a topic, whose significance
we all know about, yet disregard - Breakfast. Eating a healthy breakfast before starting the
school day is linked to improved concentration, better test scores, increased energy, a higher
intake of vitamins and minerals, and even a healthier body weight. Breakfast is especially
important for young students whose brains use up about half of the body's energy.
Considering the above-mentioned advantages of a healthy breakfast, and to enhance
awareness among students, the health club decided that it was the need of the hour to address
young children about the importance of breakfast. The awareness speech was given by the
health club coordinator, who addressed students of classes 5 and 6 on July 21, 2022. It was an
enlightening and an interactive session with students participating enthusiastically by asking
thought provoking questions and responding to questions with intelligent answers.

In the first week of August students of class 8 participated in a collage activity on the topic - “Changes
during Adolescence” to better understand and embrace the various changes that occur during this

yet critical topic, about which students from class IX presented to the students of class 4 and 5. This
event was organized during the third week of August.
Blood Donation
Donating blood is equivalent to donating a life. Blood donation awareness is the need of the hour.
During the event, planned for the 2nd week of September, students of class 7 and 8 got a hands-on
opportunity to design posters to emphasize on and spread awareness about this pivotal subject.
On the 4th week of September, students from class 1 and 2 participated to get a first hand experience
making posters and collages to highlight the importance of Diet and Exercise which is a pressing
priority in today’s tech centered society.
Antibiotics
A once revered life-saving medicine that has now become an over the counter pill, is something that
needs some light to be shed upon, for, the increased and uncontrolled usage of this boon has started
turning it into a bane. To spread awareness about antibiotics, students of class 7 participated in the event
scheduled for the second week of October. Their work was displayed on the notice board.
In the second week of November, a seminar was arranged for the students of class 8 where they were
enlightened on various tips to lead a healthy disease-free life. It was useful for the adolescent high
schoolers, who got a better understanding on this important topic.
A seminar was arranged for the students of class 9, during the third week of November, where they
were educated about personal hygiene and overall health awareness and its allied concepts.
