GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR INSTALLATION OF

UG
GOVERNOR ON DIESEL ENGINE

1. Prior installation of the governor please check that the driving gear of the engine is in good condition.
2. Clear the surface of the governor drive and apply gasket or high temperature silicon maker for
sealing.
3. Install the governor on the engine making sure that its shaft has been securely connected to the
engine’s driving gear.
4. Secure the governor by tighten the 4 bolts of the base evenly.
5. Check that the load limit indication (bottom left black arrow) is in zero position. If not, then put
temporary the governor’s bracket to the output shaft and use a wrench in order to turn the load limit
indication towards zero position. Then, turn the load limit knob (lower left) of the governor fully
CCW, in order to secure the load limit indication in zero position.
6. Check thoroughly that the fuel racks, the fuel pumps, the brackets and relevant connections are
moving freely.
7. Using a wrench, put the fuel racks in zero position.
a. IMPORTANT: All fuel pumps must be in zero indication position after step 7.
8. Install the governor’s bracket to the external governor’s shaft in position where the hole of the
bracket is flush with the hole of the rod-end of the connecting rod. On most engines, this rod is
adjustable. If the holes are not matched, please adjust the length of the rod in order to match the
two holes and then insert the connecting pin.
9. Turn the load limit knob (lower left) of the governor, CW in maximum position (position 10).
a. IMPORTANT: After step 8 & 9, please check again that all fuel pumps remaining at zero
position and the load limit indication of the governor is in zero position too. If not then, the
adjustable connecting rod must be readjusted, so as when the engine is in stop position, the
fuel pumps and the load limit indication (black arrow) of the governor remaining both in zero
position.
10. If the governor has been supplied without its cover, then the cover of the old governor has to be
installed. To do that, remove bolts and the cover from the old governor and install it on the new
governor providing that the square edge of the motor’s shaft is inserted in the corresponding part
inside the governor.
11. Connect the cable-plug to the governor’s receptacle on the governor’s cover.
12. Remove the nameplate from the old governor and install it on the new governor.
13. Fill the governor with recommended type of clean oil until the mark of the governor’s oil gauge.
14. Prior starting please turn the speed setting knob (upper right) CCW until the speed setting indication
(lower right black arrow) is in position 2. This will result the engine to start in lower rpm than nominal.
15. Turn the droop knob (upper left) in the same position as it is on the other engines, in order to be able
to share the load equally.
16. Make all necessary preparations and start the engine. The engine is operating in lower rpm.
17. Please slowly turn CW the speed setting knob (upper right) in order to get the engine’s nominal speed
(i.e 720rpm or 750rpm or 900rpm e.t.c)
18. When the engine is in idle operation (step 15), please check that the load limit indication (lower left
black arrow) is showing 1,5 or utmost 2 indication.
19. Parallel the engine and put load. Check that the load is equally shared. If not then, make fine
adjustment to the droop knob by reducing it if the engine need to pick up load or increasing it if the
engine need to drop off load.
