Student activity #2 - Test practice

Portal In this section the student will be asked to go over all the activities necessary
to plan correct preparation for the university entrance tests.

The central object of the activity is the CISIA portal which will allow you to navigate to
find the information necessary to test your preparation levels. This last possibility is
fundamental for organizing the preparation process. The teacher will be able to
accompany the student in his exploration and self-assessment of skills.

In this summary activity you are asked to go over all the activities necessary to plan
correct preparation for university entrance tests:

1. If you haven't already done so, register on the portal THERE IS

2. Browse the site and open the different thematic sections: become familiar with the

"place" 3. Choose the TOLC relating to the chosen degree course

4. Check the dates relating to the administration of the tests in the various
universities (remember that you can take the TOLC in any university location, even
different from the one chosen for enrolment)

5. Open the syllabus and checks the disciplinary areas on which to organize the

Logic for students is not a known "subject"; For students it can represent a difficult
novelty to manage. This is why the last activity of the course takes into consideration,
as an example of the resources present on the CISIA platform, precisely those relating
to logic questions.

Let's try to train with logic. CISIA makes available to students the Libretto Mentor,
text file in PDF format to be used as an interactive book.

It's a tool self-learning; it's not useful for

simulate a test, but to practice answering questions a
closed answer on specific subjects.

The booklet has a particular shape and cannot be used

reading pages sequentially; a reading
sequential is deliberately almost incomprehensible.
The reading should be planned in this way.

We start from the first question, read the text and choose an answer by going to the
page indicated at the end of the answer:

1. If the answer is right the new page confirms it, perhaps adding some small
information and indicates the page where to find the next question.
2. If instead the chosen answer is wrong the new page explains why and allows you
to return to the incorrect question again.
The logic as such it is generally not the subject of any course in secondary schools.
The test questions are formulated without using logical "jargon", but in natural
language; therefore no specific preparation is necessary.

You will have to know how to connect sentences or drawings intelligently without
misunderstanding between causes and effects. Self-learning of logical concepts is
very different from that of disciplinary knowledge.

During the test, the time to dedicate to each question should not be too long, with
only a couple of minutes available for each question on average for questions that
require developing complex reasoning. Time management is an essential element to
passing the test.

In the mentor, the questions and the explanations of the closed answers they contain
are randomly mixed, but a little black hand with a pointing index finger leads you to
the in-depth page.

Here is an example of a question with the answers and the "hand" that allows

interactivity:
