The Machakos University, through the Directorate of Research Innovation and Technology Transfer
organized a one- has Seminar on the roles of National Council for Science, Technology and
Innovation (NACOSTI), National Research Fund (NRF) and the Kenya National Innovation Agency
to be conducted on 10th May, 2023 at the Senate Room Pioneer Building from 8:30AM to 1:00PM.

The training was officially opened by Prof. Peter Mwita, the DVC (RIL). The training was
facilitated by Dr. David Ngigi from NRF, who shared his knowledge on the roles, functions and
mandate of NACOSTI, NRF and KeNIA.

The training attracted Forty-five (45) participants drawn from various Schools in the University.

Attached is a brief report of the training enumerating areas that were covered, benefits gained and
the way forward.

REPORT ON THE SEMINAR ON THE ROLE OF NACOSTI, NRF AND
KeNIA HELD ON WEDNESDAY 10TH MAY, 2023 IN PIONEER ROOM 3
STARTING AT 8:30AM.

1. Preamble

To build the capacity of researchers and innovators at Machakos University, it is

imperative to continuously undertake training of academic staff and students on
research and innovation activities. In line with this, a Seminar was undertaken on 10 th
May, 2023 and Forty-eight (48) participants attended. The training was facilitated by
Dr. David Ngigi from NRF, who shared his knowledge on the roles of NACOSTI,
NRF and KeNIA.

2. Objectives of the training

The objectives of the training were to enable staff know;
