1.0 GENERAL
Read with the General Requirements section, and all other contract documents.
1.1 Scope
This section covers the requirements for roller shutters including their associated ironmongery.
Read this work section in conjunction with the relevant requirements of the other work sections.
1.3 Standards
Unless otherwise agreed by the SO, ensure all of the Works comply with the relevant requirements
of the Standards and Codes listed below or referenced in the body of the Specification. Alternative
Standards and Codes may be submitted to the SO, provided it can be demonstrated that the
alternative Standards and Codes comply with the requirements of the standards specified. All
Standards and Codes quoted are the current version, unless specific year references are noted.

BS En 10143: 2006 Continuously hot-dip metal coated steel sheet and strip.
Tolerances and shape.
BS En 10143: 2004 Continuously hot dip zinc coated structural steel, strip and sheet.
Technical delivery conditions.
The intended type of doors and their associated ironmongery are set out in clause 3.1 and locations
are indicated in the drawings and I or door schedules. Engage qualified and experienced personnel
to carry out and submit the following items to the SO:
1.4.1.1 Develop all necessary details for the roller shutters based on the design drawings.
1.4.1.2 Submit names of manufacturer’s for roller shutters (if specified) and ironmongery.

Co-ordinate the roller shutter works, particularly the interfaces with the following work packages
and trades:

Fire rated roller shutter at and forms part of a fire compartment shall have a fire rating of 1 hour or 2
hours as indicated in door schedule and shall be manufactured by SKB Shutters or approved
equivalent.
All fire shutters are to be approved and of construction identical to system submitted for
SIRIM fire resistance tests.

Any variation / substitution in the roller shutter size, construction material, ironmongery, and
method of fixing/ installation are to be subject to further approval by the Regulatory Authorities.
The push button switch shall be encased in a lockable stainless steel box.
Other features shall include fail safe electric releaser and guide silencer strips.
Fabricated from 75mm interlocking aluminium slats. The slats shall be constructed of 1.0mm
minimum thick aluminium in natural anodized or powder coated finish.
Motorized aluminium shutter push button switch shall be encased in a stainless steel push button
box with keyed lock.
3.0 WORKMANSHIP
3.2 Installation
Install shutter assembly in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions including the following:
b. Fit and align shutter assembly including hardware, level and plumb, to provide smooth operation.

a. Name of the roller shutter manufacturer and include of copies of technical data relating to each
types, where specified include Fire rating certificates.
b. Information of current or completed similar jobs during the previous 5 years and details of
Quality Control Procedures adopted.
c. Copies of technical certificates setting out the fire rating of each shutter type.

Submit for review and approval, roller shutter schedule and shop drawings of complete shutter
assembly indicating the locations, sizes, gauges & finish of roller shutters and details inclusive
shutter slat profile, guard rail profile and installation method.
Maintenance & Operation Manual: Submit three (3) copies of maintenance data detailing inspection,
care and maintenance instructions. Identify any common causes of damage.
4.1.4 Warranty
Provide warranty against defects of material and workmanship for a period of ten (10) years from
the date of Practical Completion. Warranty shall include removal of rejected roller shutter, delivery
and re-installation of new roller shutters pre-printed with primer.
4.1.5 Certificates
a. Certificate attesting to compliance with the specifications, and to substantiate the design and
construction of the fire shutters.
