HISTORY
Big Ben and the Elizabeth Tower has a rich history spanning over a
century. Here's a timeline of some significant events in their history:
1834: The Palace of Westminster is destroyed by fire, prompting the
construction of a new Parliament building.
1844: Construction begins on the new Palace of Westminster, including a
tower to house the bells and clock.
1856: The Great Bell, which would later become known as Big Ben, is cast
at Whitechapel Bell Foundry.
1859: Big Ben and the clock tower are completed.

ESSAY
Big Ben, is much more than just a tourist attraction. It is a symbol of
British history and culture, a testament to the ingenuity and craftsmanship
of the Victorian era, and a powerful representation of the United
Kingdom's national identity.
With its stately design, imposing presence, and resounding chimes, Big
Ben has been an integral part of London's landscape for over a century.

CONSTRUCTION -:

Big Ben was built and designed by the English architect Sir Charles Barry
in collaboration with Augustus Pugin, a British architect and designer.
The construction of Big Ben began in 1856,it was designed in the Gothic
Revival style of architecture which features lancet windows heavy
ornamentation pinnacles and the use of natural materials such as stone
and iron .the tower was completed in 1859. However, it is worth noting
that while Barry and Pugin were responsible for the design of the tower,
the actual construction was undertaken by several contractors, including
George Myers, whose company was responsible for the construction of the
clock tower itself.
