Course Syllabus: English Language and

Mathematics

Course Description:
This course focuses on developing skills in English language and mathematics. Students will
engage in various activities and exercises to enhance their reading, writing, speaking, and
problem-solving abilities.

Course Objectives:
- Improve reading comprehension and fluency
- Enhance writing skills, including grammar and punctuation
- Develop mathematical thinking and problem-solving abilities

Week 2:
- English Language: Formation of simple words. Students will learn how to form simple words
using the vowels and consonants they have learned. They will practice spelling and writing
these words.
- Mathematics: Addition within 10. Students will learn basic addition concepts and practice
adding numbers within 10 through hands-on activities and worksheets.

Week 3:
- English Language: Introduction to nouns and verbs. Students will learn the difference between
nouns and verbs and practice identifying and using them in sentences.
- Mathematics: Subtraction within 10. Students will learn basic subtraction concepts and
practice subtracting numbers within 10 through interactive exercises and games.
Week 4:
- English Language: Sentence structure and punctuation. Students will learn about the structure
of a sentence and the importance of punctuation. They will practice writing complete sentences
with proper punctuation.
- Mathematics: Introduction to shapes. Students will learn about different shapes and their
properties through hands-on activities and shape recognition games.

Week 5:
- English Language: Introduction to adjectives. Students will learn about adjectives and how
they describe nouns. They will practice using adjectives to describe objects and people.
- Mathematics: Sorting and classifying objects. Students will learn how to sort and classify
objects based on their attributes, such as color, shape, and size.

Week 6:
- English Language: Reading comprehension strategies. Students will learn strategies to
improve their reading comprehension, such as predicting, summarizing, and making
connections. They will practice these strategies through guided reading activities.
- Mathematics: Number patterns. Students will learn about number patterns and practice
identifying and extending patterns through hands-on activities and pattern recognition exercises.

Week 7:
- English Language: Introduction to adverbs. Students will learn about adverbs and how they
describe verbs. They will practice using adverbs to describe actions.
- Mathematics: Introduction to measurement. Students will learn about basic measurement
concepts, such as length, weight, and capacity, through hands-on activities and measurement
games.

Week 8:
- English Language: Writing descriptive paragraphs. Students will learn how to write descriptive
paragraphs using adjectives and adverbs. They will practice describing objects, places, and
people.
- Mathematics: Introduction to time. Students will learn how to tell time on analog clocks and
practice reading and writing time in hours and half-hours.

Week 9:
- English Language: Introduction to pronouns. Students will learn about pronouns and how they
replace nouns in sentences. They will practice using pronouns correctly in sentences.
- Mathematics: Introduction to money. Students will learn about different coins and their values.
They will practice counting and making change using coins.

Week 10:
- English Language: Introduction to conjunctions. Students will learn about conjunctions and
how they connect words and sentences. They will practice using conjunctions to join ideas.
- Mathematics: Introduction to fractions. Students will learn about basic fractions, such as halves
and quarters, and practice identifying and comparing fractions.

Week 11:
- English Language: Writing narratives. Students will learn how to write narratives by creating
stories with a beginning, middle, and end. They will practice using descriptive language and
dialogue.
- Mathematics: Introduction to multiplication. Students will learn basic multiplication concepts
and practice multiplying numbers through interactive exercises and multiplication games.

Week 12:
- English Language: Introduction to prepositions. Students will learn about prepositions and how
they show the relationship between objects. They will practice using prepositions to describe
location and movement.
- Mathematics: Introduction to division. Students will learn basic division concepts and practice
dividing numbers through hands-on activities and division exercises.

Week 13:
- English Language: Introduction to synonyms and antonyms. Students will learn about
synonyms and antonyms and practice using them to expand their vocabulary. They will engage
in vocabulary games and exercises.
- Mathematics: Problem-solving strategies. Students will learn different problem-solving
strategies and apply them to solve mathematical problems of varying difficulty.

Week 14:
- English Language: Writing persuasive essays. Students will learn how to write persuasive
essays by stating their opinions and supporting them with reasons and evidence. They will
practice persuasive writing through class discussions and writing exercises.
- Mathematics: Review and practice. Students will review and practice various mathematical
concepts and skills covered throughout the course through interactive review games and
worksheets.
Week 15:
- English Language: Review and practice. Students will review and practice various English
language skills, including reading comprehension, grammar, and vocabulary, through interactive
review activities and exercises.
- Mathematics: Review and practice. Students will review and practice various mathematical
concepts and skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, through
interactive review activities and exercises.

Week 16:
- Final project presentation and review. Students will work on a final project that demonstrates
their skills and knowledge in English language and mathematics. They will present their projects
to the class and receive feedback.
