Under the instructions and on behalf of my client Mrs. Sumanpreet Kaur


(herein referred to as a client), R/O V.P.O. Udho Nnagal, Tehsil Baba
Bakala, Distt. Amritsar, Punjab-143114 who is currently residing in
Canada, I serve upon you with the following legal notice: -

1. That my client, Mrs. Sumanpreet Kaur, lawfully entered into

matrimony with you, Mr. Lovepreet Singh Sohi, on 11.05.2022, in

Amritsar, Punjab.

2. That according to the instructions by my client, her parents arranged

and financed all aspects of the wedding, including the booking of the

banquet hall and all related ceremonies. Additionally, my client's

parents provided gifts of clothing and monetary offerings to the in-laws

and their relatives.

3. That in addition to the aforementioned gifts, my client's parents

bestowed several valuable gold items upon her in-laws on the day of

her marriage. These items included a 15-gram gold bracelet and a 25-

gram gold chain for her husband. Furthermore, my client's parents

gifted a necklace set with earrings and a ring, collectively weighing

approximately 35 grams, along with other jewelry items such as silver

anklets. All these gold and silver ornaments were handed over by my

client to her mother-in-law, who has since kept these items in her

possession, and they remain with her to this date.

4. That my client had applied for a Canadian study visa, which was

approved prior to the solemnization of her marriage. All expenses

related to the visa application were borne by my client's parents.

Following the solemnization of the marriage, my client resided in her

matrimonial home with her in-laws for approximately three months,

from May 11, 2022, to August 23, 2022. Subsequently, my client

departed for Canada.

5. That my client commenced her studies in Canada and also undertook a

part-time job to independently manage her expenses and college fees.

Subsequently, you expressed the desire to apply for a spousal open

work permit, which was approved after you filed the application and

obtained all necessary documents from my client. You arrived in

Canada on July 3, 2023. Prior to the marriage, you and your family

assured my client's parents that you did not consume alcohol or other

similar substances. However, upon your arrival in Canada, my client

discovered that you are addicted to alcohol and habitually consume an

entire bottle per day.

6. That my client has had to manage all her own expenses as well as

yours. Although you are employed, my client states that your entire

salary is spent on alcohol and other similar substances. Additionally,

my client later discovered that you are also consuming tobacco. When

my client confronted you about this, you responded with physical

violence, brutally punching her.

7. Following these incidents, disputes began to arise frequently, with you

regularly misbehaving and fighting with my client while under the

influence of alcohol and other substances. In March 2024, your mother

came to visit Canada on a tourist visa, which she obtained using my

client’s documents. Subsequently, my client was subjected to coercion

by you and your family, who demanded proof of her activities and

whereabouts at all times.

8. That on 12.04.2024, my client had a dispute with you during which you

pushed her violently, causing her to fall and sustain injuries to her

elbow. Following this incident, my client decided to leave the premises.

Subsequently, my client received threats from her in-laws, who warned

they would harm her and her brother. Additionally, you and your family

issued numerous threats, stating that my client would be held

responsible for any misfortune that befell her or her family members if

she left. My client reported the incident to the police and, as of April

13, 2024, you and my client are living separately

9. That through this notice, my client demands the return of all jewelry

and other ornaments given as 'Stridhan' and gifts to you and your family

members during the marriage. These items were gifted using funds

earned through the hard work of my client's parents and are legally

recognized as belonging to my client.

10.In light of the aforementioned circumstances, my client instructs me to

demand the following from you:

a) The entirety of the gold and silver ornaments referred to in paragraph

no. 3 shall be promptly returned to my client's parental address.

b) You, and any of your family members, relatives, or associates, shall

refrain from issuing any threats, directly or indirectly, to my client or her

family.

11.That in view of the facts stated above I hereby call upon you to comply

with the directions given under para 10 within 07 days from the date of

receipt of this legal notice. Please note that in the event you do not

comply with the above stipulation within 07 days from the date of the

receipt of this legal notice, my client shall be constrained to institute

legal proceedings against you to safeguard its rights, entirely at your risk

as to cost and consequences. Nothing contained in this legal notice shall

be construed as a waiver or otherwise prejudicing the rights and/ or

interests of my client in any manner whatsoever.

A copy of this notice is retained in my office for future reference.
