Topic: PDEA

This is brief report regarding the PDEA. Less so, the assign topics include the PDEA’s
definition and purpose so as its core values then powers and functions.

PDEA or the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency was created to undertake violations of
the enacted legislation: R.A. 9165 otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous
Drugs Act of 2002. It is a regular law enforcement agency responsible for the efficient
and effective law enforcement against any dangerous drug and/or controlled precursor
and essential chemicals. In addition, the reporter also discusses the PDEA’s core values
which is honor, commitment, respect for human dignity, excellence and competence
that every agent must maintain and strive.

Overall, this take focuses on reintroducing this recurring agency in lieu to the subject of
Law Enforcement Agency operations

Topic: Categories of Plan in an Organization

The categories of plan in an organization as reference by the reporter were the time
dimension planning where time is an important variable in the planning process.
Category 2 involves the use dimension in planning where standing plans and single use
plans resides. The third category conceptualize the scope or breadth dimension in
planning where the scope dimension refers to the proportion of the total management
system at which the plan is aimed. Furthermore, the reporter tackles the 4 types of
plans which were operational planning, strategic planning, tactical planning and
contingency planning. Lastly, the topic shifts into grasping major approaches in police
planning which includes: synoptic approach as the dominant tradition in planning; trans
active approach as an alternative planning that depends on the individual
correspondence; incremental approach which focuses on the greater sensitivity to the
unintended and negative sides of plans; radical approach as the name suggest is a
stream of metropolitan planning.

Overall police planning is a broad subject that must be taken into consideration for a
better understanding and application.

Topic: Crime Mapping

The broadest subject, the reporters’ take on the topic contains the type of mapping, its
history and the application of mapping in our country the theoretical explanations of
Crime and place including herein is the level of theories of crime and the GIS

The crime mapping is associated with the simple display and querying of crime data
using the geographic information system. The reporters really stressed the value of
crime mapping in organizing information by using real-time geographical location
assisting police and LGUs to analyze and formulate strategies for crime control and
prevention. The spatial map, as the reporters suggest, should contain data on crimes
commonly committed on a certain sector of community inputting blotter entries and
plotting the date and types of crime committed then using software to analyze common
crimes being committed. The reporters also emphasize that the information could be
expanded by gathering information from government sources such as the statistics
commission.

In general, the reporters show great competence especially the visual creativeness of
the ppt presentation. Considering all this, it piqued my interest and added this
comprehension and deep appreciation towards the importance of crime mapping in
crime control and gathering and storing of criminal data.
