Training on the MATATAG Curriculum

Session 7A: MATATAG Mathematics Instructional Design Framework (IDF): Pedagogy and Assessment

Application
Instructions
1. Within the same group on the first activity, your task is to choose and unpack one learning competency then identify the relevant
21st-century skills associated with it.
2. Determine a pedagogical approach aligned with the selected learning competency.
3. Utilize the learning model associated with that pedagogical approach and collaboratively craft activities tailored to meet the target
competency and 21st century skills. Identify the elements of the Instructional Design Framework (IDF) incorporated into the proposed
activities.
4.You will be given 15 minutes to collaborate on this activity, and each group will be given 3 minutes to present the output.

Learning Competency The learners will be able to:

1. Illustrate different angles (right, acute, and obtuse) using models.
2. Measure and draw angles using a protractor.
Learning Objectives 1. Define and recognize the acute angles.
2. Measure and draw acute angles using a protractor.

Activities IDF Elements
Engage: Have the student look at a clock and have them notice the long and short hands pointing at different numbers. Engage, Experience, Connection
Explore: Provide learners with a set of cardboard triangles in various sizes and shapes. Explore, Ideational
Explain: Show illustration of acute angles using PPT or draw acute angles on the board using meter stick. Show them how acute angles Information, Media and
look like. Technology Skills
Elaborate: Introduce/Explain the concept of acute angles and their importance in geometry and in real life. Provide more examples about Discovery, Connection, Ideational
the topic and practice the explicit teaching – I Do, You Do, and We Do. Encourage them also to name objects showing/forming an acute
angle they saw inside and outside the classroom.
Evaluate: Distribute worksheets with mixed angles and ask learners to encircle the acute angles. Inquiry – Based
Ask the learners to draw acute angles using protractor given specific measures.
