CONCLUSION
The study was conducted to understand the consumer awareness towards Consumer
Protection Act and consumer perception towards Consumer Protection Act 2019. It
was found from the survey that majority of the consumers who are uneducated do not
have knowledge of their consumer rights, laws and provisions. They have very little
confidence in the government and negative opinion about the existing measures.
Lastly, with all humility at my command, let me state that the present study is only a
modest attempt to fill the gap. It is hoped that the present study will prove abundantly
useful to all those who are concerned with the subject- students, teachers, scholars,
lawyers, consumers organisations, executives, government officials and
parliamentarians.
The study proves that awareness level of consumers in Coimbatore city is low and
there is no in depth knowledge about consumer rights, so utilization of these rights are
not possible by them. Similarly, it is proved that no consumer is willing to file case in
the consumer court due to complicated procedure of filing complaint and due to
wastage of time and money and it is suggested to conduct consumer education and
consumer awareness programs, public campaigns among rural and uneducated
people. The government should take necessary actions to minimise the procedure of
filing case, speed up the redressal programs and provide various support to the
consumers for their redressal.
Future scope: A number of research studies have been undertaken periodically on the
consumer problems. But sufficient and in-depth studies are not identified in these
matters. There is a wide gap in the matters relating to consumer studies. The present
need of the hour is to find out the areas of consumer studies, which are not touched.
To fill up the gap constructive and suggestive studies are needed.
The current research project is limited to Perceptions and Practices of the Consumer
Protection Act, as well as the Changing Scenario of Consumer Movement in
Tamilnadu's Coimbatore Districts. The results of this study have led to the conclusion
that more research is needed in the areas listed below. The following potential areas
for future co-research can be looked at.
 Future research can be examined on a wider area extending to other districts.
 Further studies can be made on the satisfactory level of rural and urban consumers
regarding Consumer Protection Act.
 An extended research work can be followed to study the awareness regarding
Consumer Protection Act 2019 among rural consumers only.
 A detailed study can be carried out to identify the problems faced by uneducated
consumers regarding Consumer Protection Act 2019.
 Further studies can be made on the awareness of uneducated consumers regarding
consumer rights 2019.
