EXCAVATION

Excavation oversite commencing from ground level in ordinary


ground, including forming of surfaces and removal of surplus
excavated materials within from site, for the following average overall
depth :-

1 Not exceeding 150mm deep. m2 0.90

2 Exceeding 150mm but not exceeding 300mm deep. m2 1.50

3 Exceeding 300mm deep. m3 4.70

4 Excavation in Embankment commencing from reduced level in m3 5.40


ordinary ground including forming of surface and removal of surplus
excavated materials within site.

Excavate to form trenches, for stumps, pilecaps, foundations, beams,


basements, drains, manholes, pier holes etc in ordinary ground
including forming of bottom, necessary planking and strutting, part
return, fill and ram, and remainder get out and deposit on site as
directed in stages of the following depth :-

5 Not exceeding 2.00m deep. m3 14.10

6 Exceeding 2.00m but not exceeding 4.00m deep. m3 16.20

7 Exceeding 4.00m but not exceeding 6.00m deep. m3 19.00

8 Exceeding 6.00m but not exceeding 8.00m deep. m3 21.80

Excavation for HARD GROUND where blasting will not be permitted.


HARD GROUND is defined as:- cemented sand, shale, decomposed
rock or other material with Standard Penetration Values not exceeding
70 blows per 30cm and bulk density not exceeding 2100 kg/m3 and can
be excavated by heavy machinery with a maximum breakout force of
13,000 kg such as Caterpillar 977L or its equivalent :-

9 Not exceeding 2.00m deep. m3 17.60

10 Exceeding 2.00m but not exceeding 4.00m deep. m3 20.60

11 Exceeding 4.00m but not exceeding 6.00m deep. m3 24.30

Excavate to form trenches for drain lines in ordinary ground including


forming of bottom, necessary planking and strutting, get out and
deposit on site as directed and backfill excavated trench with granite
dust/fines in stages of the following depth :-

12 Not exceeding 2.00m deep. m3 20.90

13 Exceeding 2.00m but not exceeding 4.00m deep. m3 21.90

Excavate to form trenches for service pipes, cable crossings, etc in


ordinary ground including forming bottom and get out, deposit on site
as directed and backfill trench in stages of the following depths :-

14 Not exceeding 2.00m deep with granular materials. m3 17.40

15 Exceeding 2.00m but not exceeding 4.00m deep with granular m3 12.90
materials.

16 Not exceeding 2.00m deep with selected excavated material. m3 7.00

17 Exceeding 2.00m deep but not exceeding 4.00m deep with selected m3 8.10
excavated material.

18 Not exceeding 2.00m deep with selected imported earth. m3 12.70

19 Exceeding 2.00m but not exceeding 4.00m deep with selected m3 13.80
imported earth.

20 CART AWAY excavated materials off site and deposit at the m3 4.50
Contractor's own dumping ground.

21 Dry approved earth filling obtained from outside source and fill in m3 9.90
layers of 300mm thick; including labour for spreading, trimming and
consolidating to form earth mounds or to form levels outside buildings
and/or under floor slabs, etc as specified.

22 Selected excavated material obtained within the site and used as filling m3 6.10
to make up level including consolidation.

23 Supply and lay minimum 80mm diameter bakau piles as roller m 1.00
supports.

24 Unwashed sand including spreading, levelling and consolidating. m3 18.10

Hardcore in beds, comprising of clean broken bricks/concrete, deposit,


spread, levelled, mechanically consolidated and including 25mm thick
sand blinding/topping commencing from surface level for the
following overall average depth :-

25 Not exceeding 150mm thick. m2 5.30

26 Exceeding 150mm but not exceeding 300mm thick. m2 8.50

27 Exceeding 300mm thick. m3 25.80

28 Supply quarry waste, spread, level and consolidate. m3 27.70

29 Pre-treatment of soil for protection of building against subterranean m2 3.20


termites using Chlorpyrifos including provision of a layer of black
polythene sheets on top of the treated area with provision of 5-year
warranty (treated/untreated area shall be measured flat on plan).

30 Supply and deliver steel sheet pile for use as temporary shoring to ton 107.40
retain the sides of excavation in approved section and lengths.

31 Drive steel sheet pile including the provision of all labour, construction ton 299.00
equipment, tools and everything necessary for the installation as
specified.

32 Extract, recover and stack steel sheet piles including the provision of ton 230.00
all labour, construction equipment, tools and everything necessary for
the execution as specified.

33 Supply, deliver and drive steel sheet piles left - in permanently ton 1,219.00
including the provision of all labour, construction equipment, tools and
everything necessary for the installation as specified.

34 Providing and assembling of necessary piling equipment to item 5,100.00


drive/extract steel sheet piles of any sizes including all necessary tools
and appliances, subsequent dismantling and removal on completion of
the work on site.
