Method of Statement for Installation of

Handrail
1. Objective:

The objective of this method statement is to provide a systematic procedure and guidelines for the
installation of handrails in compliance with Saudi Aramco standards. The method ensures a safe,
efficient, and quality installation process.

2. Scope:

This method statement covers the installation of handrails at designated locations as per the approved
drawings and specifications provided by Saudi Aramco.

4. Materials and Equipment:

5. Installation Procedure:

a. Preparation:

➢ Ensure all necessary safety measures are in place, including barricades and warning signs.
➢ Verify the dimensions and locations of handrails as per the approved drawings.
➢ Inspect materials for any defects before installation.

b. Marking and Positioning:

➢ Use spirit levels and measuring tape to mark the exact positions for handrail installation on the
walls or columns.
➢ Mark the positions for drilling holes ensuring proper alignment and spacing as per the standards.

c. Drilling Holes:

➢ Use a drilling machine with appropriate drill bits to create holes in the concrete walls or columns
for installing anchors.
➢ Clean the holes from debris to ensure a proper fit for anchors.

d. Installation of Mounting Brackets:

➢ Fix the mounting brackets securely into the drilled holes using concrete anchors and bolts.
➢ Use a spirit level to ensure that the mounting brackets are installed horizontally and vertically
level.
e. Installation of Handrails:

➢ Attach the handrails to the mounting brackets securely using appropriate fasteners.
➢ Double-check the alignment and level of the handrails during installation.
➢ Ensure that the handrails are tightly fixed and do not wobble.

f. Welding:

➢ Conduct welding at marked points according to Saudi Aramco welding procedures and
standards.
➢ Ensure proper welding techniques and inspection to achieve high-quality welds.

g. Finishing:

➢ Clean the installed handrails, removing any marks or stains.

➢ Inspect the entire installation to ensure it meets Saudi Aramco standards and project
specifications.
➢ Conduct a safety inspection to ensure there are no sharp edges or protruding parts that could
pose a risk.

h. Documentation:

➢ Prepare an installation report detailing the procedures followed, deviations (if any), and
photographs of the installed handrails.
➢ Ensure that the installed handrails are inspected and approved by the designated authority
before considering the installation as complete.

5. Safety Precautions:

➢ All personnel involved in the installation must wear appropriate PPE at all times.
➢ Ensure proper training and supervision for the installation team.
➢ Regularly inspect and maintain all equipment to ensure safe operation.

6. Quality Control:
