3. Job Set-up
Subtask 29-00-00-010-050-A
A. Get Access
(1) Get access to the applicable component.
(2) If the component has a seal drain connection, disconnect the pipe from it.

NOTE: The motors of the Trimmable Horizontal Stabilizer (THS) actuator have seal drain connec-
tions, but do not have related pipes.

Subtask 29-00-00-941-050-A
B. Put a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No. 14SBA1) or absorbent paper under the component. Make
sure that the cloth or paper does not touch parts which turn or move.
4. Procedure
Subtask 29-00-00-280-092-A
A. If the inspection follows a total failure of hydraulic system (HYD-RSVR LO LVL warning) and the EDP(s)
which continues for more than 10 min, do the checks that follow:
· Check of the Green hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-280-805) or
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-280-806) .
· Check of the Blue hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-280-807) or
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-280-808) .
· Check of the Yellow hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-280-809) or
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-280-810) .
Subtask 29-00-00-863-050-A
B. Pressurize the related hydraulic system:
· Pressurize the Green hydraulic system
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-863-801) .
· Pressurize the Blue hydraulic system
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-863-802) .
· Pressurize the Yellow hydraulic system
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-863-803) .
Subtask 29-00-00-790-050-A
C. Leak Test

NOTE: Definition of a cycle:

- For a landing gear actuator:
The actuator moves from the down position to the up position and back to the down position
again

29-00-00-790-801-A - Check of the External Leakage of Hydraulic Components

- For a flight control actuator:

The actuator moves from the neutral position to the full-up position, then to the full-down posi-
tion and back to the neutral position.

NOTE: The total leakage in each of the three hydraulic systems must not be more than 100 drops/min.

NOTE: If one or more components have an external leak rate that is more than the normal operation limit,
you can dispatch the aircraft if:
- The leak rate of the component(s) is less than the dispatch limit.
- Only one hydraulic system has component(s) with a leak rate that is more than the normal oper-
ation limit.
- For a given hydraulic system, the leakage is less than the dispatch limit.
- The fluid level in the hydraulic reservoirs is correct.
It is necessary to do the above checks again before each flight.

NOTE: There are approximately 20 drops in 1 cubic centimeter and 75600 drops in 1 USgal (3.7854 l).

(1) Operate the component for the time or number of cycles necessary.
(2) Stop the operation of the component and compare the amount of leakage with the maximum
permitted values given in the table.

total leak rate from all components and all connections, which are part of the alternate brake
system, must not be more than 10 drops per minute.

NOTE: 2: The limit of 2 drops in 10 min is for the time of pressurization and operation of the Cargo
Door.

NOTE: 3: Clean the area as required. Leakage is permitted only if not sufficient to result in a drop.

NOTE: 4: The removable pipe-to-pipe and pipe-to-fitting connections have a union with a 24 degree
cone and a sleeve that make a metal seal.

(3) Each connection must be tightened to the correct torque value.

(4) If no external hydraulic leak is found, it is possible that the leak is in the fuel tank(s).
(5) Perform a fuel sampling for hydraulic fluid contamination (Ref. AMM TASK 12-32-28-281-813) .
(6) If hydraulic fluid is found in the fuel tank(s), tell AIRBUS.
