! Safe Operation Rules
Careful operation of tractor is the best guarantee to avoid accidents and ensure the
personal and machine safety. All drivers, no matter how rich experience in driving
they have, could carefully read this manual and other related operation manual
before operating this tractor and its mounted farm implements.
1. General safe operation rules
(1) Operator shall be familiar with technical conditions of tractor and
implements and read the operation manual carefully.
(2) Operator shall read and understand all warning signs on the tractor.
(3) If you are drunk, take the medicine, or feel tired, do not drive the tractor or
use the mounted farm implements;
(4) Before operation of tractor or connecting the implement to the tractor,
inspect the surrounding area, inspect if there is anyone standing between the
tractor and the implement and inspect if there is barrier that may collide with
tractor frame above. When the tractor is working, no one shall stand near the
tractor and implement.
(5) When the tractor is operated by anyone else, he shall read the operation
manual before operation and necessary instruction shall be provided.
(6) Never wear baggy clothes during operation or maintenance, because the
clothes may be trapped by moving components or levers, which may lead to
accident. Operator shall wear helmet, boots, goggles, ear shield and gloves.
(7) No one except the driver is allowed to sit on the tractor.
(8) Any person without driving license or specially trailed is not allowed to
drive the tractor. During the whole operation, the driver should not leave the
drive seat;
(9) Check whether the brake and clutch could work normally, and whether the
pedal travel is needed for adjustment. Any worn part should be replaced
timely;
(10) Inspect the tightening condition of connection bolts and nuts of key
components at a regular basis (bolts and nuts of front and rear wheels);
(11) Periodically clean the tractor to keep it clean. As the accumulation of dust,
grease and dirt could catch fire and leading to personal injuries;
(12) The mounted farm implements should match the tractor. Operate the

1
implements in accordance with the operation manual of the implements;
2. Safe operation rules during operation of tractor
(1) Operator shall sit on the driver’s seat to start the engine and shift the levers.
(2) Before starting the engine, all levers (including assistant ones) shall be
shifted to neutral position, the parking brake lever shall be pulled up and the
clutch and power output shaft shall be separated. The operator shall wear
safety belt if any.
(3) The engine is prohibited to be started with the short circuit of terminals of
starter motor or by bypassing the ignition switch;
(4) Do not run the engine (even idly) in space with poor ventilation, because the
CO exhausted from the engine may lead to personnel injury.
(5) Cover the all casings and protective covers, replace the lost or damaged
casings;
(6) Sudden startup should be avoided;
(7) To avoid rollover of the tractor, speed down when turning, driving on
uneven ground and before stopping.
(8) With the differential lock is at lock state, steering is prohibited, which
otherwise could cause turnover of tractor;
(9) Tractor is prohibited to travel on such sites potential to collapse owing to
tractor weight as the ditch, pit and dam The rollover danger of the tractor is
higher on the places with wet and soft soil;
(10) When the tractor pulls out of ditch, pit or goes uphill, there is risk of
turnover. Therefore it is correct to have the tractor back uphill. For safety, do
not park the tractor on the steep slope;
(11) Pay attention to the front road during traveling to avoid impacting obstacles.
Care must be taken at the end of field, around the trees or other obstacles;

(15) During normal traveling, it is prohibited to get on or off the tractor;
(16) The low speed sign shall be clearly seen and switch on the turn light when

2
turning.
(17) The driver shall be familiar with local traffic rules.
(18) At night traveling, turn on the headlamp, at parking, shift the headlamp to
the “low beam”;
(19) Tractor should travel at the controllable speed;
(20) Avoid sharp cornering, because it may cause the tractor to roll over and it is
more dangerous when the tractor is running at transport speed.
(21) At road traveling, lock the left pedal to the right one, and then lock the farm
implement on the lift position;
(22) Use safety chain when towing other devices and place low speed sign on the
device.
(23) When the implement is secured by the power output shaft of the tractor, pull
up the parking brake lever and wedge the rear wheels in the front and back
side. Everyone shall be away from the running machine.
3. Safe operation rules during maintenance of tractor
Before maintenance, park the tractor on firm and even ground, pull up the
parking brake lever, shift the transmission lever to neutral gear and flame out
the engine.
(1) Only after the engine cools down, can the work be done around the exhaust
pipe and radiator;
(2) Before fueling, switch off the engine and avoid the fluid from splashing and
overflowing;
(3) With engine running, never work under the tractor;
(4) Do not remove the radiator cover unless the coolant temperature is below
the boiling point. To add the coolant, slowly screw off the radiator cap to
release the high pressure and then uncover the radiator;
(5) Before serving the electrical elements, disconnect the ground wire of battery.
After that, reconnect the ground wire;
(6) With no technology and special tool, do not install the tires. Observe the
safety regulations during installation;
(7) To replace the wheel or adjust the wheel track, reliably jack up the tractor;
(8) High pressured oil injected by the hydraulic system is powerful that
punctures your skin or causes serious personnel injury. Therefore, before

3
disassembling the hydraulic pipelines, stop the engine and ensure that the
system is free of residual pressure. Before applying pressure to the hydraulic
system, ensure that all connectors are tightened and all pipelines and hoses
are intact without damage;
It is hard to see the pressured oil injected from the hole. Do not touch with
hand to find out the leak, use a piece of paper or wood instead. Wear goggle
if possible.
If you are hurt by the pressured oil, go to the hospital at once, because the
oil may cause irritable skin.
4. Measures in emergency
(1) In case of failed brake, hold the steering wheel and flame out the engine in a
safe place.
(2) In case of failed steering wheel, depress the brake pedal and flame out the
engine.
(3) In case of fire, flame out the engine at once. If a fire extinguisher is provided
on the tractor, inject against the root of fire; if no fire extinguisher is
available, use sand instead.
(4) In case of accident, call emergency rescue, hospital or fire fighting
department for help.

3. Coolant

Add clean soft water in coolant tank to avoid poor cooling caused by incrustation
produced in cooling system. Hard water (well or spring water) shall be treated to soften
it. In case of cold weather, add anti-freezing.

III. Running-in
It is not allowed to deliver a new tractor or overhauled tractor without running-in or enough
running-in, for it may affect performance and service life of tractor.

1. Preparation for running-in

(1) Each control handle should be at the neutral.

(2) Inspect and tighten the exterior bolts and nuts.

(3) Inspect lubrication oil level and add oil in case of low level.

(4) Apply grease on specified lubrication locations.

(5) Fill in with fuel and coolant.

(6) Inspect front wheel toe-in: inspect front and rear tires pressure. If the pressure is not
acceptable, adjust to specified value.

(7) Inspect the battery and electrical circuit connection.

2. Run the engine without load at low, medium and high rpm for 7min, 5min and 3min
respectively. During the diesel engine idle running, please carefully check for abnormal
sound, and for leakage of water, oil and air. At last check whether the oil pressure is
normal.

In case of abnormal, please stop immediately, troubleshoot and then run-in again.

3. PTO running-in

During the engine running at mid-openness of throttle, respectively place the PTO to the
high speed, low speed for running-in for 5min. Then place the PTO handle to neutral.

4. Hydraulic system running-in

Start the engine, lift or lower the lever of lifter for several times. Observe the hydraulic
system for blocking and oil leak. When everything is ok, connect an implement as heavy
as 2-furrow plough to the suspension mechanism. When the engine is running at rated
rpm, operate the lever of lifter to rise and lower the implement for 20 times.

5. Running-in of tractor shall be performed when the engine is running at rated rpm and
follow instructions in table 2-3 to increase to high load from zero and shift transmission
lever from low speed gear to high speed gear.

Note: During the running-in with zero load, turn the tractor to the left and right side and
operate the brake and pay attention to below conditions:

(1) Listen to the engine carefully to observe working condition of transmission system.

pedal to brake the right driving wheel. Single-side braking reduces turn radius of tractor.

7. Differential lock pedal

In case of slippery left or right wheel, depress the differential lock pedal to turn the two
driving wheels to pass the area.

8. Interlock piece

Interlink the left and right brake pedals to control the left and right driving wheels
together.

15
9. Locating detent

It is used when the tractor stops on a slope or stops for a long time. Up shift the detent to
lock the brake pedal to keep braking. Down shift the detent to unlock.

10. Power output operation lever

Push the lever forward for high output speed or pull the lever backward for low output
speed. Neutral gear is in the middle.

11. Suspension lock handle

Push the handle forward till it is vertical to lock the interior lifting arm to lock the
implement from descending.

12. Resistance/position adjustment handle

Push either force or position adjust lever forward to “descending” to descend the
suspension mechanism. Both levers shall be shifted to “lifting” when lifting the
mechanism.

13. Electrical connector

It is electrical appliance connecting unit between tractor and trailer.

14. Cut-off valve

Screw on the cut-off valve during hydraulic output to cut off oil channel of lifter
cylinder or screw off the valve to connect the channel.

15. Descending speed regulation valve

Turn the valve to the right side to speed down implement descending or turn the valve
to the left side to speed up.

16. Hydraulic output valve joystick

Control the working status of hydraulic suspension lifting cylinders or oil cylinders on
agricultural implements. The handle close to the driver's side controls the hydraulic
output; The high-pressure lifting device uses the outermost valve of the hydraulic
output valve to control the lifting of the hydraulic suspension lifting cylinder. The
hydraulic output and the hydraulic suspension control handle cannot be used
simultaneously.

V. Operations and Driving

(I) Diesel engine startup

Before startup, check the fuel, lubricant and coolant, check whether each part could
work normally, whether oil gallery is smooth and whether there is air in the pipeline.
Shift the gear lever to the neutral and then shift the flameout lever to the start position.
As the hydraulic oil tank is independent, check the oil level before start the engine.

1. Startup at normal temperature

16
Depress the clutch pedal, shift the hand throttle lever to the neutral gear, clockwise turn
the start switch (figure 2-2) to gear II (gear I indicates “powered on”). When the engine
is started, shift the lever to gear I. If the diesel engine is not started in 10s, repeat it again
in 1-2min. In case of failure for 3 successive times, please stop starting and troubleshoot
it.

Off

Figure 2-5 Illustration of start switch

2. Start up in low environment temperature

Use pre-heater (optional) in case of starting the engine in low temperature (below
-10 ℃ ). Shift the hand throttle lever to large throttle, press the rocker switch of rear
working light to “pre-heating” and hold for 20-30s before press the switch to “Start”.
When the engine is started, reset the start switch and shift the lever to small throttle.

Note:

1) In case of radiator lacking of water and oil sump of oil, it is prohibited to start diesel
engine.

2) After the start of engine, if the accelerator pedal is released but the engine speed
increases sharply, it indicates the occurrence of diesel engine “galloping”. Immediately
take emergency measure to force the diesel engine flameout by rapidly closing the fuel
switch of the fuel tank.

(II) Tractor pulling out

1. Lift the mounted farm implements.

2. Disengage the lock device, depress the clutch pedal to shift the main and auxiliary
transmission to desired gears.

3. Slowly release the clutch pedal to gradually increase the throttle opening so as to
smoothly move the tractor away.

17
(III) Driving of tractor

1. When the tractor is working, observe readings of instrument.

2. When the tractor is working, the driver shall not settle the feet on clutch pedal;
otherwise the clutch may always half depressed and damaged.

3. Interlock the left and right brake pedals during operation or driving on road.

4. Use single-side braking to decrease turn radius during operation; however, never use
single-side braking when the tractor is working at high speed or running on road to
avoid rollover and damage of components.

5. When the tractor is working, choose correct gears for maximum productivity and
economic performance. Purpose of each gear is listed in table 2-4

Table 2-6 Purpose of each gear

Gear I II III IV V VI VII VIII

Rotary tillage Rotary tillage Ploughing, Ploughing, Ploughing,

Item and and Harvesting raking and raking and raking and Transportation Transportation
transplantation transplantation seeding seeding seeding

(IV) Tractor parking

1. Reduce fuel supply to speed down the tractor.

2. Depress the clutch pedal quickly and shift transmission lever t o neutral gear.

3. Release clutch pedal to run the engine idly at small rpm.

4. Depress brake pedal to stop the tractor and lock with locating detents.

Note: In case of emergent stop, depress the clutch pedal and brake pedal at the same time,
instead of one by one; otherwise the components may be damaged.

5. Flame out the engine in case the tractor has to stop for a long time. When the engine is
unloaded, run it at low rpm for a while. When the coolant temperature has dropped
below 70 ℃ , pull out the flame-out cable to cut off fuel supply of engine to stop the
tractor.

Note: Never stop the engine when the temperature is high. Never use pressure-reducing
device to stop the tractor.

6. Switch off the fuel tank if the tractor has to stop for a long time.

7. In case of stop the tractor when the temperature is below 0 ℃ , remove the cover of
coolant tank, open drain valve on the bottom of coolant tank and engine cylinder. Drain
off the coolant tank when the engine is running idly; otherwise the engine and coolant
tank may be freezed off. If it is antifreeze, there is no need to release it.

(V) Safety cautions during driving and operation of tractor

18
1. Please often observe the instruments and all warning indicator during driving.

2. The diesel engine shall not run at high rpm and with full load when the coolant
temperature is below 60℃. If the temperature is above 95℃, stop to inspect the tractor.

3. Carefully listen to the sound of diesel engine and tractor and observe the outside
component working status. If abnormal, please stop to troubleshoot.

4. During driving, the driver’s foot is not allowed to lay on the pedal of clutch and brake.

5. To brake the tractor, firstly depress the clutch pedal and then brake pedal. In case of
emergency braking, simultaneously depress down the pedal of clutch and brake, do not
merely depress down brake pedal.

6. During driving on road, lock the control lever of hydraulic lifter at neutral position of
lifting, shift the linkage plate of brake pedal to connection position to interlink the left
and right brakes to avoid the tractor turning over.

7. Before going uphill or downhill, please preset the gear. Gear shifting is not allowed at
slope, not to mention sliding.

8. During downhill transportation, if the tractor is forcefully pushed by the trailer with
higher inertia than that of tractor, or the road is slippery, use the throttle for acceleration
rather than depress the brake pedal, which otherwise could lead to the tractor turnover.

9. In case of traveling on poor road or over groove or other obstacles, please reduce the
throttle opening and shift to low-speed gear. Do neither use clutch to control vehicle
speed nor outride obstacles by forcefully engaging.

10. When the tractor is turning, speed down. Sharp turning is not allowed when the speed is
high or when the implement is in the soil.

11. When the front the of tractor raises, depress the clutch pedal, shift the transmission lever
to neutral position and stop the tractor to remove excessive load.

VI. Control and use of tractor operating device

(I) Hydraulic hitch control and use

1. Connection, ascending/descending and transferring of implement

Before connecting and hanging the implement, the hydraulic system shall be in working
condition. Shift the control lever of ascending/descending to “descending”. Reverse the tractor
slowly to approach the implement. Connect the implement with the left and right lower rods
and then with the upper rod and lock with pin. Operate the lever to lift or lower the implement.

Warning: Irrelevant personnel shall not stay between the hitch hook and the implement
when connecting the implement with the machine.

During the field operation of a tractor with implement, never lower the implement unless the
tractor has turned at the end of the field and driven in line. The implement shall be lifted
before the tractor turns. In case the tractor has to transfer to another field far away, lock the
implement at lifting position.

19
2. Selection and use and tilling-depth adjustment methods

During the use, choose different tilling depth control methods depending on the soil
situation and operation type.

The hydraulic suspension system of this series of tractors has two structures. One is
a force and position adjustment lifter, which has two methods for adjusting the depth of
cultivation: position adjustment and force adjustment. The force and position
adjustments are operated separately. The force control is automatically controlled by the
change in soil resistance, and the position control is achieved by the rotation of the
handle and cam to achieve position changes. Another type is a strong pressure lift,
which forces the depth of the implement into the soil and is more suitable for areas with
poor soil conditions.
( 1 ) Force and position control lifter

a) Resistance adjustment

Resistance control refers to tilling depth control in accordance with changing resistance
from soil, applicable to operation in paddy field or dry field. It provides even and
consistent tilling depth for uneven field with even resistance (cultivated land) and the
tractor works well with stable load. However, resistance control is not applicable to even
field with variable resistance (wasteland).

Move the force adjust lever forward to descend the implement till it gets into the soil to
certain depth. The depth can be determined when the tractor is moving. The more the
lever moves forward, the deeper it descends. Hold the lever with locating wheel to
ensure the lever to be pushed to same position each time so as to ensure same farming
depth. In case of uneven field or great change of soil resistance, the depth is changed
automatically. When the resistance increases, the implement raises to reduce the
resistance; when the resistance decreases, the implement descends to increase the
resistance. The implement recovers to regular position when the tractor has passed the
area.

b) Position adjustment

Position adjustment refers to tilling depth control via changing position of implement
against the tractor. This method is applicable to ploughing, rotary tillage, reaping and
seeding on even paddy and dry field.

Move the position adjust lever to descend the implement. The implement moves once
against the tractor every position the lever moves. The farther the lever moves forward,
the more the implement descends. Operation depth can be selected via the tractor. When
the implement has reached the desired depth, block the lever with locating hand wheel
so that the lever can be always pushed to the same position.

Note:Both force and position adjust levers control the implement to ascend or descend.
One lever shall be operate while the other one shall be shifted to “lifting” and be blocked with
a locating hand wheel.

c) Float adjustment

Float adjustment refers to tilling depth control via copy of field surface by the depth

20
wheel of the implement.

The implement shall be provided with depth wheel and adjusts the position of the upper
and lower wheels and changes the vital distance between the lower edge of the depth
wheel and the working component of the implement (e.g. the bottom of plough) so as to
acquire desired tiling depth.

It is applicable to implements designed for dry field, such as plough, seeder and deep
digging plough, and heavy-duty implement.

To adjust the height, just push the resistance and position control levers downward to
the lowest position at the same time.

d) Selection of connection point with upper rod

The front end of upper link is connected two the rear end of lifter via upper and lower
connecting points.

When controlling the farming depth with position adjust lever, the front end of upper
link shall be connected to upper connecting points, When controlling the farming depth
with force adjust lever, the front end of upper link shall be connected to lower
connecting points. When controlling the farming depth with force adjust lever, use the
upper connecting point when the soil resistance is small or the farming is shallow or use
connecting point when the soil resistance is high or the farming is deep.

e) Hydraulic output via hydraulic output valve

The tractor can be installed with one or two hydraulic output valves. Connect Oil delivery
pipe and oil return pipe with quick adapter on the output valve. During the hydraulic
output, the lifter does not work. Only when the output valve stays in the neutral position
does the lifter work.

( 2 ) Strong pressure elevator

The system adopts a double acting oil cylinder and is controlled by a set of multi way
valves with floating positions. By moving the joystick of the multi way valve, four working
positions can be obtained: "lifting", "neutral", "lowering", and "floating". The position of the
joystick is shown in Figure 2-6.

Figure 2-6 position of joystick of forced earth penetration multi-way

21
a) Lifting :

operate the joystick of the multi-way valve to the lifting position, and the linkage drives the
agricultural machinery to start lifting. When it reaches the required position, release the
joystick, the joystick will automatically return to the "neutral" position, and the linkage stops
lifting and remains at this position.

b) Neutral:

operate the joystick of multi-way valve to the neutral position, and the linkage remains
fixed at a certain height.

c) Down:

operate the joystick of the multi-way valve to the down position, and the linkage drives the
agricultural machinery to start to fall. When it reaches the required position, release the
joystick, the joystick will automatically return to the "neutral" position, and the linkage
stops falling and remains at this position.

d) Floating:

operate the joystick of the multi-way valve to the "floating" position (it is obvious that the
joystick is positioned), which can control the tillage depth of agricultural machines and
tools to remain in the "floating" state.

Notice:
a) When the tractor unit is working in the field, the joystick should be placed in the "lifting"
position before turning to lift the agricultural machines and tools. After turning and entering
the working state of straight-line driving, the joystick should be placed in the "lowering"
position to control the lowering of agricultural machines and tools.

b) When the farm tool is lifted to the highest position or lowered to the lowest position, it is
required to release the handle in time to return the slide valve to the neutral position, so as to
reduce the heating capacity of the hydraulic system as little as possible.

c) In order to limit the maximum working pressure of the hydraulic system, a safety valve is
set in the multi-way valve, and the opening pressure of the safety valve is 17.5 ~ 18.5mpa

3. Use of linkage mechanism

Before connecting the implement to suspension mechanism, adjust the implement in

accordance with the operation manual of the implement. For example, the plough shall
be adjusted longitudinally and horizontally to ensure identical tilling depth of front and
rear ploughs.

(1) Vertical adjustment

Adjust the length of upper rod to keep the plough horizontal longitudinally to realize
identical tilling depth of front and rear ploughs. Extend the upper rod in case of deep
front plough and shallow rear plough or the plough leaves the groove. Retract the upper
rod in case of shallow front plough and deep rear plough or the plough compresses the
groove.

22
(2) Horizontal adjustment

Adjust the length of left and right lifting rods to keep the plow frame horizontal. Extend
the right lifting rod to increase tilling depth of the 1st plough or retract the right lifting
rod to decrease the depth.

In actual use, to obtain the better tilling quality, refer to the plough operation instruction
to adjust the tilling depth to ensure there is no backset and missed tillage. Each
adjustment is correlative and accordingly dependent on the specific circumstance. Thus
only cooperative adjustment could get the good effect.

(3) Use of check chain

The check chain protects the rear wheels from being impact by swinging lower link
when the tractor is raising the implement at the end of field. When the plough is
working, the check chain shall be loose and the implement is allowed to swing against
the tractor.

Note:

1) Never adjust the deviated traction of implement by tightening the check chain.

2) During ploughing, never turn the tractor when the implement is not lifted.

(II) Control of PTO

The operation procedure of power takeoff shaft is as below:

1. Shift the control lever of power output shaft to neutral position, remove the traction
frame and power output shaft cover, install protection housing on the output shaft and
connect the machine with the output shaft.

2. Depress the clutch pedal to the floor, and then move the control handle to the needed
gear.

3. Slowly loosen the clutch pedal to have the working equipment rotate. Firstly use small
throttle openness to check working status, then begin to work by adopting full-open
throttle.

Note:

1) The shield shall be additionally installed when the power takeoff shaft is in use.

2) When the power takeoff shaft is not to be used for a long time (such as transport
operation), shift the power takeoff control lever to neutral gear

(III) Operation and use of pulley

1. Remove the shield of PTO shaft and upper rod, left rod or right rod of suspension
mechanism.

2. Install the pulley assembly on PTO shaft.

3. Align the tractor pulley with implement pulley, wind the belt on the pulley, drive the
23
tractor forward slowly to tighten the belt to proper tension.

4. Shifty the lever of auxiliary transmission case to neutral gear, push the lever of
transmission case to gear 1 or 2 to ensure enough lubrication of input shaft bearing.

5. Shift the PTO lever to desired gear and run the engine at small throttle. Normal
operation is allowed when the machine has run successfully.

Note:

1) Depress the clutch pedal regardless of engaging or disengaging the PTO when the
engine is running.

2) If it is unnecessary to use the PTO, shift the PTO lever to neutral gear.

(IV) Use of Differential Lock

If the tractor fails moving forward due to slippery rear wheel, operate the differential
lock following below steps:

1. Depress the clutch pedal, and then engage the low-speed gear.

2. Turn the hand throttle to max. opening.

3. Depress the pedal of differential lock located at right-low side of seat. Slowly release
clutch pedal to engage the clutch. At this time, two drive wheels simultaneously rotate to
have the tractor out of sliding area.

4. After tractor getting out of sliding area, please release the differential lock handle.

Note:

When the differential lock is engaged, the tractor shall not turn; otherwise the machine may be
damaged.

(V) Use of front drive axle

When a 4-wheel drive tractor is working in field with heavy load or on wet and soft land,
engage the front drive axle for 4-wheel drive in order to improve adhesion of the tractor.
In such condition, push the lever ①forward (refer to figure 2-7) at the left side under
the driver’s seat to transmit the power to front drive axle via the transfer case. Separate
the clutch completely before push the lever ① forward or pull backward.

Note:

1) Do not use front drive axle when the 4-wheel-drive tractor is traveling on hard road;
otherwise the front tires will be worn. Do not use the front drive axle except on snowy
or rainy days when the ground is wet and slippery or when running uphill. When the
tractor has passed the tough section, disengage the front axle.

2) In case of shifting gears of auxiliary transmission case, disengage the 4-wheel drive
first, shift the gears and then engage the 4-wheel drive.

24
Figure 2-7 Operation of front drive
1. Control lever 2. Clutch pedal

(VI) Operation method of the air brake

The air brake is a device that generates and controls the compressed air for trailer brake
and is used for the braking of trailer during the transport operation of tractor.

The operation method of the air brake is as below:

1. Connect the trailer air pipe securely to the delivery pipe of air brake valve.

2. Before the start of diesel engine, check the lubricating oil level in the air pump. The oil
level shall be maintained between two markings of oil dipstick.

3. Open the drain valve below the air reservoir to draw off and then close the valve (note:
the air reservoir shall be drained off at a regular basis; otherwise it may cause serious
problem that we are not responsible for).

4. Adjust the length of control linkage and screw of air brake valve to synchronize the
trailer brake and tractor brake or a little earlier than the tractor brake.

5. When the engine is running at rated rpm, the air compressor has worked for 4 minutes
and the air reservoir starts to release air. In such condition, it is allowed to drive the
trailer of the tractor. If the safety valve fails to release air, inspect and remove the failure
and change parts in necessary.

VII Use and maintenance of electrical equipment

2) In case the tractor has to be shut down for a long period, cut off the power supply.

2. Use and maintenance of electrical equipment

To ensure good operation condition of electrical system of the tractor, operate the
system correctly and maintain the system at a regular basis. Always inspect components
of the electrical appliance: if the connection is loose and if the insulation layer is broken.
Remove at once if case of any problem. Maintain below key parts during the operation
of tractor at a regular basis:

(1) Battery

The battery is maintenance-free and the capacity is 120Ah. It is unnecessary to add

electrolyte. The battery features less self-discharge, long service life, less corrosion of
terminal and good start performance.

Note:

1) As electrolyte is inside the battery, never disassemble the battery without permission;
otherwise it may cause explosion.

2) The electrical system is earthed to ground negatively. Do not reverse the positive and
negative poles of battery when wiring. The reverse polarity will damage the electric
devices. It is common to connect firstly the positive pole and then the negative pole. For
disconnection of the generator and the starter motor, firstly remove the grounding wire
of battery.

29
3) Always inspect battery capacity and charge the battery in time. Always inspect the air
holes on the two sides of battery cover. The holes shall not be blocked by dust or ice,
which may cause deformation and explosion.

4) It is unnecessary to remove the cover to charge the battery. The positive and negative
poles of the battery are connected to positive and negative poles of charger respectively.
The battery shall be charged with constant voltage, instead of constant current.

5) The battery shall be kept in dry and clean environment with good ventilation and the
temperature shall be 5~25 ℃ and it shall be protected against direct sunlight and be
away from heat source for at least 2m. The battery shall not be reversed or laid down.
The battery shall not be impacted or pressed. Charge the battery if it has been kept for
over three months. For low battery caused by various reasons during operation, charge it
in time to avoid degraded performance due to sulfation. If the battery or tractor has to be
kept for a long period, fully charge the battery; otherwise the service life of battery may
cut short.

(2) Generator

Always remove dust and oil on the appearance of generator, especially that on the
terminal for good wiring. Ensure proper tension of V belt. Loose belt causes slippery
pulley and undercharged battery while tight belt accelerates bearing wear. Generally,
press the middle of the V belt, a 10-15mm distance can be pressed, which indicates the
V belt tension is properly.

Note:

The generator should be serviced once every 1000h, with the methods shown below:

1) Check the bolts of generator for fastness, wire insulation for damage, wire connection
for reliability.

2) Check the commutator and brush for burn. If severe, please use fine abrasive paper to
polish them. If excess wear or crack for brush, please replace it. Please add the lubricant
to the moving parts.

(3) Starting generator

1) The ignition shall not be switched on for over 10s and interval between two ignitions
shall be at least 2min. In case of cold winter when it is difficult to start the generator,
pre-heat the engine before starting the motor. If the diesel engine fails to start for three
times consecutively, stop the start attempt and check for malfunction cause. Do not run
the starter motor for a long time or for multiple times, in order to prevent damaging the
starter motor and the battery.

2) During starting, if you loosen the starting switch and the solenoid switch of starter
motor could not carry out automatic power off. Therefore when the starter motor is still
running, please cut off the connection between the battery and starter motor,
troubleshoot, and then start again.

(4) Instruments

Coolant temperature gauge and tachometer are used for monitoring working conditions

30
of diesel engine; oil pressure warning of light warns low oil pressure; air pressure
warning light warns of low air pressure in air reservoir and fuel gauge shows residual
fuel in the fuel tank. Frequently observe the working conditions of instruments. In event
of any abnormality, timely stop for checking and resolve malfunctions.

(5) Illumination and signal devices

Illumination and signal devices are mainly used for tractor night work and transportation,
playing the important role for tractor safe. Therefore, if any fault occurs, please stop to
troubleshoot. If any damage, please replace the same type spare parts, but not other
spare parts.

(6) Auxiliary electrical elements

1) Fuse box

There are 6 gears for the fuse box (30A for gear A, 20A for B-E gears and 10A for gear
F). The fuse is designed for automobile for protecting electrical appliance.
Specifications of the fuse conform to requirements specified in the drawings. In case of
frequent burnout of fuse, inspect to find out the cause and solve the problem. Never
increase current capacity of the fuse, which may destroy the appliance.

2) Starter switch

The starter switch is used for powering on the tractor and starting the engine. Insert the
ignition key, turn the switch clockwise to gear I to power on the tractor, turn the switch
clockwise to gear II to power on the motor. When the engine is started, the key returns
to gear I and stays at gear I during the operation of tractor. When the tractor stops
working, remove the key to power off the tractor.

3) Master power switch

If the tractor has to be shut down for a long period,

power off the tractor to avoid capacity loss of
battery. As shown in figure 2-11, rotate clockwise
along the marking ON direction to the dashed line
position to turn on the master power switch and
rotate counter-clockwise along the marking OFF On Off
direction from the dashed line position to cut off the
master power switch.

2. Adjustment of clutch working travel (figure 3-2)

When depress the pedal and the free travel has eliminated, depress the clutch pedal
further to swing the rocker arm forward along axis of check screw 4 till the clutch is
separated completely, which is called working travel. Way of adjust: loose lock nut 5 of
check screw 4, increase exposed length of check screw to ensure the distance S between
hexagonal head and rocker arm 6 of clutch release fork reaches 26-36mm.

If above adjustment does not work, inspect and adjust height of release levers. Error of
the three release levers on a same rotary plane shall not exceed 0.15mm.

When the friction lining or pressure disc of clutch is changed, ensure the clutch is
engaged when assembling and short end of splined hub of driven disc shall be close to
the engine; otherwise the clutch will not separate. For single-action clutch, the distance
between the end of release lever and outer end of splined hub of driven disc shall be
24.5~25mm; for dual-action clutch, the distance between end of release lever of main
clutch and outer end of splined hub of driven disc shall be86.5~87mm and he distance
between end of release lever of auxiliary clutch and outer end of splined hub of driven
disc shall be 78~79mm.

(II) Adjustment of transmission

The transmission is unnecessary to adjust during operation except during assembling or

after overhaul of transmission system. figure 3-3 shows the composition of the transfer
case and follow below instruction to adjust it.

33
Figure 3-3 Composition of transfer case
1. Bearing cap (FR), input shaft 2. Adjust washer 3. Adjust round nut 4. Bearing 27305
5. Adjust washer

1. Adjustment of axial clearance of input shaft: increase or decrease thickness of shim 2 in

the front bearing cap to ensure axial clearance not above 0.1mm.

2. Pre-tightening of the two bearings (27305) of output shaft: adjustment 3 to pre-tighten

the two front bearings (27305) and the increase of friction torque of bearing of output
shaft shall be 0.490-0.086N·m. When the pre-tightening is acceptable, lock the nut.

3. Adjustment of central drive

To ensure reliable central drive, the driving and driven spiral bevel gears shall be
assembled in pairs and adjust to correct position for good engagement. During the
operation of tractor, the engagement position may be destroyed by worn bearing, which
shall be inspected and adjusted, including inspection and adjustment of gears
engagement, pre-tightening of differential bearing and inspection of backlash.

(1) Contact pattern Adjustment of: ideal contact pattern shall be in the middle of gear.
Pattern on the pinion shall be a little higher than that on the gear. When the load is small,
length of contact pattern shall be half of teeth length and close to the toe. If the contact
pattern is wrong, adjust it following below instruction.

Adjustment of contact pattern: increase or decrease thickness of shim 5 on the front of

output shaft (figure 3-3) and turn the adjust nut 2 on the two sides of differential(figure
3-4) to change relative position of the gears so as to change the pattern.

34
Figure 3-4 Differential assembly
1. Main gear of central drive (output shaft) 2. Adjustment nut 3. Driven gear of central drive

Ensure contact pattern of forward gears and pay attention to contact pattern of reverse
gears. Apply a thin layer of red lead on the surface of bevel gear and turn the gear
clockwise and anticlockwise till the pattern on the pinion can be clearly seen. If the
pattern is not acceptable, adjust as shown in the picture (figure 3-5).

(2) Adjustment of differential bearing: rotate the adjust nut (figure 3-4) to pre-tighten the
differential bearing and the friction torque shall be increased by 0.245--0.343N·m after
pre-tightening. Total friction torque shall be 0.089N·m. After that, measure the total
friction torque on output shaft (including pre-tightening torque of output shaft bearing),
which shall be 0.686-0.980N·m.

(3) Inspection of backlash: place a φ0.5mm lead wire between flanks of non-stressed teeth
and turn the gear to measure the thickness of lead wire when it is extruded. The
thickness can be regarded as backlash. Measure three points evenly distributed on the
length of gear. In case of a new tractor or a new pair of gear, the backlash shall be
0.15-0.3mm. Backlash of used gear is large due to worn surface.

35
How to adjust

III. Adjustment of steering and traveling system
(1) Adjustment of hydraulic steering mechanism

YTO tractor split non-reactive all hydraulic steering system with cycloid rotary valve
composed of constant flow pump, steering gear, steering wheel, steering cylinder and
pipeline.

(1) Working Principle (figure 3-6)

When the tractor is driving straightly, the steering

wheel does not move and the control valve and
valve core of steering gear are in neutral position.
Oil channels on steering gear connecting to steering
cylinder are closed. Pressured oil returns to oil tank
from steering gear. When turn the steering wheel to
right or left side, the valve core rotates against the
valve sleeve. Oil channel is cut off and pressured oil
channel of steering gear is connected to oil channel
connecting to chamber 1 of steering cylinder and oil
drainage channel is connected to another oil
chamber of the cylinder. When the steering wheel is
turning, the valve core transfers input of steering
wheel to the rotor of valve sleeve. Pressured flow
from pump to rotor flow from rotor to cylinder are
supplied constantly during the operation, which
realizes left and right turning.

Figure 3-6 Working principle of all hydraulic steering system

1. Steering cylinder 2. All hydraulic steering gear 3. Constant flow steering pump 4. Filter 5. Oil tank

(2) Adjustment

The pump is composed of gear pump, constant flow valve and safety valve. To ensure
agile steering operation, the flow of pressured oil supplied to steering gear by oil pump
has nothing to do with engine rpm. The constant flow valve ensures reliable and agile
steering system. The safety valve protects the system from overloading. The pressure is
well adjusted via shims in factory and the user shall not adjust the pressure.

(II) Adjustment of brake

Free travel of brake pedal is 25-40mm.

If the friction lining of brake is worn, the free travel of brake pedal is increased and
leads to poor braking. In such condition, the free travel shall be adjusted.

As shown in figure 3-7, loose nut 2 to adjust rod 3 to realize 25-40mm free travel of
brake pedal 1. Adjust the left and right pedals and lock nut 2.

37
Figure 3-7 Brake
1. Pedal 2. Nut 3. Pull rod

(III) Adjustment of air brake unit (Optional, figure 3-8)

Adjustment of air brake system shall be:

1. Adjustment of air pump: lubrication level shall be between the upper and lower scale
marks. In case of low pressure when the pump is working, inspect the air tightness of
exhaust valve, wash or grind if necessary. 30 and 35 hp tractors adopt release air pump.
Shift the lever to release position when trailer is not necessary. When a trailer is
connected to the tractor, shift the lever to engage position. Power of 32hp tractor is
transmitted via belt and the belt shall not be loose or tight. When press in the middle of
the belt, 10-15mm can be pushed.

2. Adjustment of braking pressure: depress the brake

pedal to the end and the pressure in the braking
chamber shall be 0.44-0.49MPa. When adjusting the
pressure, connect a pressure gauge to pipeline of
braking chamber and turn the screw 2 to contact with
thrust rod 3 as shown in figure3-10. Depress the brake
pedal to the end. If the pressure gauge shows less than
0.44MPa, screw on screw 2. If the pressure is above
0.49MPa, screw it off to adjust the pressure to
0.44-0.49MPa and lock the nut.

3. Adjustment of braking time: braking time shall be a

little earlier than braking time of tractor; otherwise it
shall be adjusted. Shorten the rod of brake valve to
bring forward or prolong the rod to postpone.

Figure 3-8 Brake valve

(IV) Composition and function of front drive axle

The front drive axle is composed of housing, main reducer (a pair of spiral bevel gears),
differential, ale shaft, wheel reducer, tie rod and steering cylinder. The main reducer is
used for reducing rpm, increasing torque and changing transiting direction of torque.

38
The differential enables the left and right wheels to turn at different rpm for turning and
driving condition on uneven road. The axle shaft transmits torque from differential to
the end of front drive axle.

Power of front drive is transmitted to central drive by the transfer case via drive shaft
and distributed to the axle shafts at the two sides via the central drive and then
transmitted to the front final drive to drive the front wheels to turn.

The front drive axles are connected via two swing seats and bracket and connected to
the engine via bolts on the bracket. When the front left and right wheels are running on
road with one side higher than the other, the front drive axle swings to as much as11°.
Adjust shims on the front and rear swing seats are thinned due to frequent friction of
front drive axle. Change the shim when it is thinned to specified value.

(V) Adjustment of tread

The track width of the tractor front wheels cannot be adjusted The adjustable rear
wheels of NME504/NME554 are adjusted by overturning spoke plate and rim step by
step (figure 3-9), 100mm for each step. The stepless adjustment of
NME504/NME554/NME604 ( Narrow ) (figure 3-10), adjust the wheel thread via
movement of pressure cover seat and pressure cover on the drive axle. The adjustment
of right side shall be same with that of left side, otherwise it may lead to early worn tire.

Place the resistance and position adjustment levers at the position where it contacts with
the upper dead point of sector plate and leaves 4mm clearance between the inner arm
and inner surface (F side) of lifter housing. The angle between the outer arm and bottom
of lifter housing is 60°, then adjust the cams.

(1) Adjustment of resistance adjustment lever

Adjust the resistance thrust rod 17 till the head of 12 touches A side, then adjust the
length of thrust rod to make the clearance between the G end of resistance adjustment
lever and end face of main control valve reach 1.5mm (the main control valve is at the
outermost position). After the adjustment, lock with nut 18.

(2) Adjustment of position adjustment lever

Contact the control end of the position adjustment lever with the outermost end of main
control valve, turn the position adjust cam 11 to contact it with the roller of position
adjustment lever assembly 5, then keep the roller contacting with the cam and turn the
cam clockwise till the control end of the lever pushes the control valve to the neutral
position (the main control valve moves 5mm from the outermost position and the
distance between the control end of the adjustment lever and end face of main control
valve is 6.5mm), then tighten the cam on the lifter shaft with bolt 10.

3. Adjustment of hydraulic system pressure

One the end of oil inlet cover assembly of lifter there installed safety valve assembly
(figure 3-13). Pressure of the safety valve has been adjusted in factory and user shall not
adjust the pressure. If the pressure is wrong, adjust it on test bench: loose safety valve

4. Hydraulic output via hydraulic output valve(Optional)

The tractor can be installed with one or two hydraulic output valves. Connect Oil delivery pipe
and oil return pipe with quick adapter on the output valve. During the hydraulic output, the
lifter does not work. Only when the output valve stays in the neutral position does the lifter
work.

Note:

1. Force and position adjust controller shall be selected according to soil condition during
ploughing of furrow plow.

2. If the tractor is equipped with a rotary machine or the implement is driven by power
output shaft, the angle between universal transmission and power output shaft as well as
implement shall be not above 10° and the angle shall not be above 30° during lifting.
The knife roller shall be at least 250mm above the ground. The tractor shall adopt
position control during operation. During the tilling, do not start up the tractor with the
cutter pierced into the soil. Start the operations only after the cutter is off the ground and
the drive of power takeoff shaft is normal.

3. The floating control or position control shall be selected for the tractor during tilling
operations. During the tilling, do not start up the tractor with the cutter pierced into the
soil. Start the operations only after the cutter is off the ground and the drive of power
takeoff shaft is normal. As the heat dissipation of the engine will be influenced to a
certain extent due to severe harvesting condition, it’s recommended to install
additionally the optional water tank.

※ Note: Wherever the implement is, the square shaft of universal shaft shall be able extend
and retract in the sleeve freely and shall not be extruded or detached during operation.
