Be a Blockzilla
Suggested Episode: “ Blockzilla”
Maths Skill: C
ompare Numbers
Blockzilla is a friendly monster who
wants to play with big numbers!
Blockzilla’s mouth makes a greater
than (>), less than (<), or equal to (=)
sign to compare the Numberblocks
and find out which one is biggest.
Begin by building two Numberblocks
with Clings, such as Two and Six, about
50cm apart. Me like...
Say: Pretend you are Blockzilla! Show
me how you can make a greater than,
less than, and equal to symbol with your
arms. Remind children that their arms
represent Blockzilla’s open mouth,
looking for the biggest Numberblock.
Say: Now look at Two and Six.
Ask: Which Numberblock is bigger,
Blockzilla? Encourage children to mimic
Blockzilla: “Me like bigger numbers!
So me like…”
