A proper education for 21st century youth (An opinion essay)

A few words about an opinion essay type. This is a type of essay where person gives
its own ideas about the particular problem. It also should be supported by some
reasons and examples. What about the structure of this type of essays than it has to
have:

A purpose, it the main goal of an essay, where the writer explains why the reader has
to read this essay and accept its idea;

An introduction, mainly it includes the clear introduction of a topic;

Then there are some body paragraphs, each paragraph discovers particular reason;

And conclusion, it provides the summary of all writer’s ideas;

If to talk about tone and style, than it has to be written in a formal style without any
colloquial language, the language should be persuasive and professional.

In a modern and quick world all people have to develop and study, because of almost
everyday there are some new technology innovations. But what about children?
Mostly parents are complaining that their children don’t want to study at all. But have
you ever thought over this problem? Why do they behave like this? The answer is “If
we live in a modern and developed world then our studying has to be modern and
developed”. I mean children are tired of boring textbooks and overused techniques,
so that they need something better and more interesting. And it’s not connected only
with school programme but with social skills, critical thinking and digital literacy as
well.

Firstly, how to persuade child to study? There is no way how to persuade, but there is
a point how to encourage. I’m working as a junior teacher for kids aged 4-11 years
and I clearly know what can work with and what can’t. Mostly I pay attention on
what kids like, if it’s some animation cartoon that we will learn to read with “Inside
out” characters today, everything should be colourful and fascinating for children
only. Once I have experienced the situation with one boy, he was 9 and couldn’t read
at all, because he didn’t like it, and I made some worksheets with his favourite game,
also found some interactive games to click on some boxes and read a sentence. And it
helped.

Secondly, if we are talking about older students who are more like teenagers then the
situation is a little bit more sophisticated. They don’t have any passion to study and
encouraging them to study is hard too. It those cases I use the reversive psychology
methodology. I know that it seems quite rude but it is what it is. I say “Okay? If you
don’t want to study leave the class, please. But think what you could get if you wasn’t
as lazy as you are” Of course it doesn’t work with all students, unfortunately.

Futhermore, If to talk about the social skills, digital literacy and other point, I guess
that modern schools have to pay more attention to these disciplines, because it’s even
more important than to know how planets are ordered.

In conclusion, I would like to say that no matter how the child is behaving, in any
occasion you can find the right approach for him or her. Using modern techniques,
apps and games, paying attention on what child or teen likes, we can successfully
teach and encourage them to study, which wouldn’t be like tortures but really
fascinating, learning and loved by students.
