RelatedWhat are the most important topics to

be remembered in biochemistry (1st year
MBBS)?
Thanks for requesting

So, once again, NOTE — It's going to be a long

answer as you all must be knowing , but again if
you cover up these topics well, then you can be very
sure of getting a good grade in Biochem too.

See, for most of the students, Biochem becomes the

most neglected subject in 1st yr (It was the same for
me too). The reason is because, most of us keep on
studying the mammoth, ie. Anatomy for the majority
of the time & then we give 2nd most importance to
Physio. Thus Biochem keeps on getting neglected &
we finally end up reading it just a few days before the
exam

Now, if I talk about the syllabus, it's Not that tough as

compared to the other two. Moreover, a lot of it is
already known to you from your class 11& 12. So, this
subject seems very easy. It really is easy & you can do
it few days before the exam only. But how?

THAT'S WHAT I'LL BE TELLING YOU HERE.

You just have to read all these topics (as it includes all
the important topics & the topics from which
questions have come in previous years) only from any
of the “Standard textbooks". That's it. And revise
them frequently & try writing them down somewhere.
This will help you out immensely.

So, let's start with the important topics chapter—

Well if we have a look over the entire syllabus of

biochemistry for first year, then we will come across a
very good number of structures especially in the
metabolism part. Remembering all those structures is
physically not possible. So what to do now.?

Well, first of all while reading about any cycle or

aomerhing you can have a look at the structures to
identify how the changes are happening.

The basic biomolecules taught in the initial days gives

a good idea about structures. Focus more on them

Before I answer this question in an unbiased way, I
think it’s important that we set the context more
precisely. The scope of this discussion will be limited
to security solutions which are used by common

phospholipid, glucose, fructose are some which I can

For exams, structures are not as such important.

But, studying them will be helpful for your

understanding of the subject.

Cycles are very much important for the exams.

Having said this, one can never predict the nature of

questions asked in university exams. So though the
probability is less, questions may come from
structures.

Hope this helps.
