El Entorno - Environmental Festival
Registration for the Online events will begin on July 15, 2024 and will remain open till
July 31, 2024 at www.dpschd.com. (No preliminary round will be held for online
events)
Registration for the ‘Preliminary Elimination Round’ for all Onsite events will also
begin on July 15, 2024 and will remain open till July 31, 2024 at www.dpschd.com.
Details for this round are given under Category 2.
Each participating school will be represented by the number of students specified for each
event.
Students of DPS Chandigarh will be allowed to participate but will always remain
non-competitive.
Individual Prizes will be given to the top three rank holders after the event.
Trophy will also be given to school for the BEST OVERALL PERFORMANCE in onsite
events.
Any adapted content must be properly acknowledged with its source.

CATEGORY 1 : ONLINE EVENTS
Only entries are to be sent. Students are not required to be physically present.

1. Local Action, Global Changes: Documentary
1. The school should designate one teacher in charge for all online events who will be
communicating with the host school in case of any query.
2. No CD / DVD are to be sent to host school (they will not be evaluated).
3. Hard copies of the entries only for specified events will be considered and evaluated.
The events for which hard copies are to be sent to the host school should have the following
details mentioned in the covering letter:
School name
Competition category
Event name
Student’s name and class
Teacher’s name
Principal’s name along with signature.
4. The address of the participating school and the name of the event should be clearly
mentioned on the envelope and should be sent to the following address:

5. Please ensure that only one entry per school should be sent for each online event.
6. Participation certificates will be given to all the participants.
7. Decision of the judges will be final and binding for all.
CATEGORY 1 - EVENT 1:
LOCAL ACTION, GLOBAL CHANGES: DOCUMENTARY
The aim is to inspire students to highlight and document the initiatives taken in their local area
or school to address environmental concerns, through a compelling documentary.
Submission Format: The soft copy of the documentary should be sent in MP4 format to
documentary.elentorno@gmail.com. latest by 12.08.2024. Ensure video and audio of good quality.

A hard copy of the document (backside duly labelled with the name of the participant, class,
and school name) is required to be sent to the host school latest by 20.08.2024.

Each team is expected to create artwork using discarded e-waste. They shall repurpose these
e-waste materials to produce unique and visually striking masterpieces.
At least 80% of the artwork must be made from electronic waste (e.g. old phones, computer
parts, wires, etc.) Additional non-electronic materials can be used but should be kept to a
minimum.
The students must produce a 2-minute video introducing themselves without revealing the
name of their school. They should be in proper school uniform, the name of the school
should not be visible on the uniform, during the making of the video. They should narrate
in their own voice. Ensure clear and concise narration highlighting the following points.
Title or name given to the artwork.
Description and Images of the materials used.
Step by step explanation of the creation process and the visuals of the final
masterpiece.
How their creation promotes sustainability and environmental benefits.

Online Registration for the ‘Preliminary Elimination Round’ (Online Quiz) for all
Onsite events will begin on July 15, 2024, and will remain open till July 31, 2024, at
www.dpschd.com.
Only one entry per school will be accepted. Multiple entries and participation at the time of
conduction will lead to disqualification.
Participants should be able to provide the following details in the Google form: the name of
the principal, the name of the teacher in charge, the school's phone number, and the teacher
in charge's phone number.
This round will consist of 20 objective / subjective questions pertaining to general
knowledge in the field of environment and the time limit will be 30 minutes only. The
selection criteria includes both speed and accuracy.
The link for this round will be shared on www.dpschd.com at 9:45 a.m., which will remain
open for response from 10:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on August 5, 2024.
Only the top 20 teams will qualify to participate for the onsite events to be held on
October 1, 2024, and they will be informed via their registered email by The DPS Society.
DPS Chandigarh will get direct entry to Category 3 being the host school and will be the
21st school team to qualify for Category 3 - onsite events. The team shall, however, always
remain non-competitive.
S.NO EVENTS
The aim is to celebrate and promote the beauty of nature through the vibrant and traditional medium
of folk art, fostering creativity and artistic expression among participants.
Entry: 1 per school
Participation: A team of 2 students from classes IX- X
Time Limit: 2 hours
Theme: Nature in Harmony
Guidelines:
Participants will creatively depict the given theme using traditional Indian folk-art styles on
an umbrella.
The umbrella will be provided by the host school.
The acrylic paints and paint brushes should be brought by the participants.
Upon completion, participants will present their artwork accompanied by a jingle/poem.
Following each presentation, there will be a Question/Answer round.
The final product will be the property of the host school.
Judgement Criteria:
The aim is to welcome groundbreaking ideas from participants to reshape the world for the better.
This platform invites students to express their solutions and limitations for addressing
environmental challenges. Participants will research on diverse topics, including climate change,
biodiversity loss, pollution, sustainable development, and more.
Time Limit:
Each team will be allotted an issue related to environment. They will research the
environmental challenge, identify and analyse pros and cons, gather relevant data and
examples. The use of laptop and internet will be permitted.
The problem statements would be disclosed at a specific time through a draw of lots, when
the actual event would commence.
They should propose concrete actions, policies, and strategies to mitigate environmental
challenges and promote sustainability.
Each team will prepare the PowerPoint presentation to present the designated agenda.
Following each presentation, there will be a question and answer round.

CATEGORY 3 - EVENT 3 :
NATURE'S MARIONETTES : PUPPETRY TALES FOR
A SUSTAINABLE WORLD
The aim is to promote environmental awareness and inspire positive change through creative
storytelling and puppetry.
Entry- 1 per school
Participation- A team of 2 students from IX and X
Time limit- 3 minutes
Language- English/Hindi /Bilingual
Topic- 5 R’s of Environment (Select any 1)
Guidelines:
Participants are supposed to create storytelling performances themed around one of the 5
R’s of environment (Refuse/Reduce/Reuse/Repurpose/Recycle). They must give a catchy
name to their story.
Participants must integrate puppetry into their story telling performances to convey the
importance of environmental awareness, showcase the impact of human actions, propose
solutions, or inspire positive change.
Puppets made from eco-friendly material should be used.
Participants can incorporate a jingle/ tag line to enhance the narrative.

Sub-themes:
Each school may submit one model, with participation from 2 students from grades IX-XII.
The exhibit's dimensions must not exceed 3 feet by 3 feet.
Include a suitable article, write-up and caption for your exhibit.
Provide 2 standard-sized charts to accompany your exhibit.
Models can be either working or non-working.
Select and mention one sub-theme under the title of your model.
If your exhibit requires an electric point, inform us in advance.
There will be a question and answer session, which will be part of the judging criteria.

Question and Answer round
Incorporating the five elements of earth and using sustainable materials into fashion designing can
add depth and meaning to the creative process. By drawing inspiration from the stability of earth,
the adaptability of water, the passion of fire, the clarity of air, and the interconnectedness of spirit,
designers can create garments that not only look beautiful but also carry a deeper message.
Guidelines:
ROUND 2 - Presentación
Each qualifying team's designer student will have one minute to present their idea. They will be
evaluated on their material choices, sourcing & sustainability, how effectively they convey their
message through the chosen element, and their confidence. The top-performing teams will advance
to the final round.
ROUND 3 - El Cerebro
The top-performing five teams will then proceed to a brainstorming round in which the students
will be judged based on their promptness and relevance of response to the questions by judges. This
round will be open to both the participants (designer and model) of the qualifying teams.
