Background

Transport is the means of movement of goods and people from one place to another. Usually in
commercial activities this is the movement of goods from the producer to the consumer. As an
aid to trade, transport helps to complete the production process by ensuring that the produced
goods reach the final user.
The CALA

The CALA has two parts, Part A and B. You need to complete all the parts.

Part A

• Carry out a research identifying modes of transport that can be used to carry passengers
and goods from one point to another.

• Research on the products which are transported and the mode of transport which is
suitable.

• in your research include observations, interviews and use of questionnaires as well as use
of ICT tools in researching on the different modes of transport, you can draw at least one
form from mode of transport which is used to carry goods and one form from mode of
transport which is used to carry passengers

Part B.

• Draft a write up which examine the advantages and disadvantages of each mode of
transport.

How you will be assessed

• To assess your write up, your facilitator will consider your research materials, pictures or
drawings about the mode of transport.

• Achievement standards specific to this CALA will be provided so that you are aware of
the assessment criteria.
