knob all the way to “warm”),
– Measure the temperature of the air flowing out of the left and
right instrument panel vents using a thermometer.
Specified Values:
♦ The temperature of the air coming out of the left and right
instrument panel vents increases to a value greater than 55
°C (131 °F) (at a coolant temperature of approximately 90 °C
(194 °F), depending on the current coolant temperature).
♦ The temperature difference between the air coming out of
the left and right instrument panel vents is less than 8 °C (46
°F).
– Set the lowest temperature possible (temperature knob at
“cold” stop).
– Measure the temperature of the air flowing out of the left and
right instrument panel vents using a thermometer.
Specified Values:
♦ The temperature drops within five minutes to a value, which
is maximum 15 °C (59 °F) greater than the previously meas‐
ured ambient temperature
If the specified values are not reached, check the following:
♦ If the required heating output is not reached:
– Check the coolant circuit bleeding and repeat, if necessary.

3 - Nut
❑ 25 Nm
❑ Hold the belt pulley se‐
curely with a commer‐
cially available oil filter
band wrench to loosen
and tighten the hex nut.
4 - Drive Plate
❑ The overload protection
activates when the tor‐
que is too high (for ex‐
ample, if the A/C com‐
pressor runs with re‐
sistance) and the belt
pulley runs freely with‐
out driving the A/C
compressor.
5 - Circlip
❑ Replace after remov‐

7 - A/C Compressor
❑ Clean the A/C compressor input shaft before installing the belt pulley
1 - Nut
❑ 25 Nm
❑ To protect the input
shaft threads, this is al‐
so covered with a plas‐
tic cap (the plastic cap
is not pictured).
❑ Hold the belt pulley se‐
curely with a commer‐
cially available oil filter
band wrench to loosen
and tighten the hex nut.
❑ The thread on the
nut, which was installed
with locking fluid, must
be cleaned (for exam‐
ple, with a thread tap).
Otherwise, there is the
risk that the input shaft
will shear off during an‐
other removal.
❑ Clean the threads on
the A/C compressor in‐
put shaft with a wire
brush.
❑ Insert the nut with lock‐
ing fluid. Refer to Parts
Catalog for the locking
fluid.
2 - Bolt
❑ 12 Nm
❑ Quantity: 3
❑ Hold the belt pulley se‐
curely with a commer‐
cially available oil filter
band wrench to loosen
and tighten the bolts.
❑ Threaded holes, in which self-locking screws or bolts with locking fluid were installed, must be cleaned
(for example, with a thread tap), otherwise there is a risk that the bolts will break during another
removal.
❑ Bolt threads that are installed with locking fluid must be cleaned with a wire brush, then the bolts must
be inserted with locking fluid. Refer to Parts Catalog for locking fluid.
3 - Drive Plate
❑ The overload protection (securing spring elements), takes over when the torque is excessive (for
example, if the A/C compressor runs with resistance) and the belt pulley runs freely without driving the
A/C compressor.
❑ The drive plate spring elements dampen vibrations and noise
4 - Circlip
❑ Replace after removing.
❑ Install on the proper side, beveled insertion edge -A- faces away from the A/C compressor; flat side
faces the A/C compressor
5 - Belt Pulley
❑ With rubber elements -B- and threaded plates -C- for decoupling the belt pulley from A/C compressor
input shaft, dampens vibrations and noises
❑ Depending on the version, the threaded plates can also be connected to each other by a ring.
❑ For “cold climate” vehicles (for example, central and northern Europe), A/C compressors with a
smaller displacement can be installed. On these A/C compressors, the belt pulley is slightly different
