Inventory Controller – Finished Goods

Function Inventory Controller
Site/Location New Plymouth

Purpose of position Responsible for managing all inventory control related activities in regard to
Brief Summary: finished goods in New Plymouth and all inventory held at the Fielding
 Objective location, including:
 Key areas of focus 1. Direct responsibility for inventory accuracy.
2. Execution of inventory control measures to ensure the company
maximises stock system and paperwork accuracy.
3. Responsibility for working with production, goods inwards,
warehouse management, staff and dispatch to ensure necessary
functions are carried out correctly and inventory counting processes
are adhered to.

Position Dimensions:
Direct Reports / Budget / Finished Goods NP, All inventory – Feilding, Offsite storage locations, CHEP
Expenditure / Profit Impact – central reg

 Ideally a relevant qualification and 2-4 years relevant experience in the


Competencies/Skills / role or similar or 5 years experience in inventory management.
experience required to do  Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
the job  Experience of lean manufacture and continuous improvement
philosophies would be an advantage.
 Excellent verbal and written communication skills for a demanding and
customer focused working environment.
 Excellent personal organisation and business administration skills in
accordance with modern best practice methods.
 The ability to work productively, efficiently and effectively with initiative
and drive under tight timescales and pressure whilst maintaining
attention to detail and quality.
 A willingness to learn, improve and adapt.
 Relevant skills in MS office applications – Outlook, Excel and Word and a
working knowledge of business ERP systems.
 Power BI would be advantageous.

KEY JOB ELEMENTS & RESPONSIBILITIES
Briefly describe the key actions, outcomes required, and accountabilities for the role
 Credit notes and PoD administration
Inventory control; including but not limited to:
 Development, documentation and implementation and audit of sound stock taking processes.
 Responsible for managing and running planned stock takes.
 Perform cyclic stock checks as necessary.
 Investigation and resolution of stock take variances in a timely manner.
 Monitor age of inventory and alert Head Office to any inventory close to expiry that should be
transferred to Seconds.
 Inventory adjustment trend data

Dumped Stock & Returns


 Accurately recorded and documented.
 Ensure POD and credits processed in a timely manner
People training and communication
 Ensure all warehouse staff are adequately trained in stock taking procedures.
 Audit and validate this understanding regularly.
CHEP
 Reconciliations
 Accurate and timely reconciliation of central region CHEP accounts
Inventory
 Movements and variance investigation/explanation.
 Provide routine management information on inventory performance, escalating any problems to
manager.
 Ensure reports are displayed visually for Distribution Centre employees to track performance.
Stock Takes
 Administration associated with stock takes
 Daily/weekly/monthly stock takes
 Ensure integrity and accuracy of the stock management system.
 Ensure stock take variances are communicated effectively.
