DAILY LESSON PLAN
Teaching Dates and SUZETTE B.
Time: JANUARY 05,2024 (1:00-1:50 PM) Checked by: IGNACIO

OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standard Beneficial and harmful interactions occur among living things and their
environment as they obtain basic needs.

B. Performance Construct a prototype model of organism that has body parts which can survive
Standard in each environment.

C. Learning Describe the effects of interactions among organisms in their environment.

B. Establishing a purpose for the Biotic and abiotic components in the environment interact and depend on one
Lesson another. Their relationship may cause either beneficial or harmful interactions in
the environment called ecosystem. These interactions can greatly affect the way
they live and move in their surroundings.
In this lesson you will be provided with activities to know that certain types of
interaction will result to either harmful or beneficial effects.

C. Presenting examples/ instances of the Directions: Watch the video and answer the following questions.
new lesson

Questions:
1.What did the three characters in the video saw in the forest?
2.What is the cat doing, when they saw it?
3.Why do you think cat chased the bird?
Living things depend on one another for food. Some
animals eat plants to survive, while others eat animals, like cat chasing
the bird on the video to be eaten.
Different organisms depend on each other in different
ways. And this is what we called the INTERACTIONS in the
ECOSYSTEM. And today I will be discussing about the effects of
interactions among organisms in their environment.

D. Discussing new DIFFERENT KINDS OF INTERACTIONS

concepts and practicing new
skills #1 Beneficial Interactions
 Mutualism- the type of interaction where both species benefit
from the relationship.

INDICATOR 2
Use a range of teaching
strategies that enhance learner
achievement in literacy and
numeracy skills
(Effects) Both bees and flower benefits from each other.
Bees get the nectar they need to make a honey. By travelling
going back to their hive the bees bring pollens from one plant to
another resulting in pollination.

 COMMENSALISM- the type of interaction where one organism

benefits while the other is not harmed nor affected.

(Effects) Clown fish make their home the sea anemones,

where it provides a shelter and protection for them.

HARMFUL INTERACTIONS
 PREDATION- the type of interaction where one benefits while the
other one is harmed or badly affected.

In this process the Eagle is a predator. Predator is

an organism that kills and eats another organism. The snake was
the organism that was killed so it is a prey. A Prey is an organism
that is killed and eaten by another organism.

(Effects) There will be a decrease in the number of

snakes in the ecosystem. Eventually create an imbalance number
of populations in the environment.
-Just like human, especially those who are in the ethnic group

background. Since we are talking about ethnic groups can you still
remember our lesson in MAPEH (ARTS) about the different ethnic
groups in the Philippines?
Can you give me examples of different ethnic groups in the
Philippines?

teaching areas. A4EL-la

 PARASITISM- the type of interaction where the organisms that

benefit are called parasites and the one that is affected is called
the host.

(Effects) The mosquitos suck

bloods to survive and a
carrier of illnesses like dengue,
malaria, and chikungunya.

 COMPETITION- the type of interaction where organisms compete

for food, sunshine, space, shelter, water, and other things that
they need for survival.

(Effects) Plants will not

grow well, because of the
weeds. Both plants and weeds
need sunshine, space, water,
and fertilizer for survival. That is where competition takes place
between them.

INDICATOR 2
Use a range of teaching
strategies that enhance learner
achievement in literacy and In addition to our lesson and for your better
numeracy skills Understanding, I want to show you a chart
showing the effects of interaction by using (+) positive sign as
beneficial effects, (-) negative sign as harmful effects and (0) as
unaffected.

Do you know that positive (+) sign and negative (-) sign is commonly use
in mathematics?
Aside, from it is the sign use in addition and subtraction it is
also use in Integers, in math integers are numbers that can be positive or
negative.
I have here an example of how positive and negative sign use
in Mathematics.

The chart shows the rules for positive and negative numbers.

envelope.

_____2. mosquito and a man
_____3. ferns on a branch of tree
_____4. shrubs, trees, grasses in one area
_____5. lion eating deer

G. Finding practical application of concepts Directions: Analyze the drawing to answer the questions.
and skills in daily living

INDICATOR 3 Questions:
Applied a range of teaching 1. What animals are involved in this type of interaction?
strategies to develop critical and 2. Which organism is badly affected?
creative thinking, as well as 3. Which animals benefited from the interaction?
other higher-order thinking skills 4. What kind of interaction is this?
5. What will be the effects of this interaction in the ecosystem?

H. Making generalizations  Can you give the two types of beneficial interactions and give
and abstractions about the lesson example of it.
 What are the effects of each interaction in the ecosystem?
 Give the three types of harmful interaction and give example of it.
 What are the effects of each interaction in the ecosystem?

Different organisms depend on each other in different ways to

survive.

I. Evaluating learning Directions: Analyze the following situations. Infer the possible effects of
interaction of organisms on themselves or in the environment. Use the table
below and write your answer in your notebook.

J. Additional activities for application or ASSIGNMENT:

remediation Cut pictures showing different Interactions in the ecosystem and list down
the effects in each interaction in the environment.
