DEVELOPING INTIMACY WITH GOD

MEMORY VERSE: As the deer pants for streams of water, so My soul pants
for you, O God. Ps. 42:1 (NIV).

INTRODUCTION
Intimacy is an experience of really knowing and being known by
another. God created man in His own image that He might have intimate
relationship with him. He desires every redeemed child of His to
develop intimacy with Him.
However, it is not automatic; believers must be deliberate in cultivating
it.
In this study, we shall be considering how to develop intimacy with God.

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS
1. How can believers develop intimacy with God from the following
scriptures?
 You can develop intimacy with God when you follow his
commandments and not your own desires. ( Job 23:12)
 Walking in uprightness and righteousness ( Psalm 15:1-5/Heb
1:9)

 Praying Consistently (Daniel 6:10)
 Being in unity with Jesus Christ by abiding in Him and He
also abiding in you. (John 15:4-6)
 By changing your ways and following the Lord (2 Corinthian
3:16-18)
2. Discuss practical hindrance to developing intimacy with God.
 Constantly sinning. Allowing sinful habit and disobedience to
separate us from God. (Psalm 66:18/ Isaiah 59:2)
 Lack of faith. ( Heb 11:6/ James 1:6-7)
 Lack of prayer and communication. Neglecting to talk to God
regularly, missing out on deepening our relationships.
 Lying. (Colossians 3:9-10/ Pro 12:22)
 Unforgiveness. Holding grudges and resentment blocks the
flow of God’s love and grace. (Matthew 6:14-15/ Ephesians
4:32)

CONCLUSION
In this study, we have seen practical things we can do to develop
intimacy with God. May we be willing to invest our all in cultivating
this intimacy with God.

PRAYER
Father God, your word says that nothing can separate me from your
love. Thank you for never leaving me or forsaking me. Your word says,

when I call upon You, You hear me and save me. Lord, remind me of
this truths today. I have a broken and contrite spirit, remind me that you
are close to me through this season. Though I feel that you are far away
from me remind always that you are close, In Jesus’ Name. AMEN!!!
