Materials and tools:
1. Sport 5 ply cotton blend yarn (yardage 330 m / 100 g.)
The main color Alize Cotton Gold №2 – mustard (approx.70 g)
The additional color Alize Cotton Gold №688 – brown melange (approx. 15 g)
Some white thread to decorate the eyes.
2. 2 mm (B-1) crochet hook.
3. Polyester fiberfill for stuffing.
4. A tapestry needle with a big eye to sew the details
5. Safety eyes or black beads 8-9 mm in diameter

Abbreviations:
st – stitch;
ch – chain;
sc – single crochet;
inc – increase (crochet 2 stitches in one stitch);
dec – decrease (crochet 2 stitches together);
sl st – slip stitch;
dc – double crochet;
BLO – work through the back loop only.
(sc, in)... times – repeat instructions in parenthesis the indicated number of times.

The height of the finished giraffe is approx. 27 cm, the length is approx. 16
cm.

HEAD
Brown color. Stuff in the course of crocheting.
1 rnd: 6 sc in the magic ring (6)
2 rnd: 6 inc (12)
3 rnd: (1 sc, inc) х 6 (18)
4 rnd: (2 sc, inc) х 6 (24)
After the 8th row change the color to the main one.

5-9 rnds: 5 rows – 1 sc in each st around (24)


10 rnd: (7 sc, inc) х 3 (27)
11 rnd: 1 sc in each st around (27)
12 rnd: (8 sc, inc) х 3 (30)
13 rnd: 1 sc in each st around (30)
13 rnd, if you use safety eyes: 9 sc, 1 ch (skip 1 st.), 10 sc, 1 ch (skip 1 st.), 9 sc (30)
14 rnd: (4 sc, inc) х 6 (36)
15 rnd: (5 sc, inc) х 6 (42)
16-21 rnds: 6 rows – 1 sc in each st around (42)
Insert the safety eyes
22 rnd: (5 sc, dec) х 6 (36)
23 rnd: 1 sc in each st around (36)
24 rnd: (4 sc, dec) х 6 (30)
25 rnd: (3 sc, dec) х 6 (24)
26 rnd: (2 sc, dec) х 6 (18)

Cut the yarn and close the opening tightening the stitches.
Hide the end inside the head.

LEGS (4 pcs)
Crochet the legs in pairs.
Begin with brown color. Stuff in the course of crocheting.
Before the beginning of the crocheting prepare a piece of mustard thread to sew the
details.
1 rnd: 6 sc in the magic ring (6)
2 rnd: 6 inc (12)
3 rnd: (1 sc, inc) х 6 (18)
4 rnd: BLO – sl st in each st around (18)
5 rnd: BLO – 1 sc in each st around (18)
6 rnd: 1 sc in each st around (18)
Change the color to the main color
7 rnd: BLO – sl st in each st around (18)
8 rnd: BLO two previous rows – 1 sc in each st around (18)

Crochet the 7 and 8 rows for the back loops only (BLO) to get an even changing of the

9-22 rnd: 14 rows – 1 sc in each st around (18)

Connection of the back pair of the legs:


Cut the yarn for the first leg and fasten off, for the second one – leave an open loop.
Crochet 2 ch from the opened loop, insert the hook in the other leg, crochet round the
first leg 18 sc, then 2 sc along the chain, 18 sc along the second leg and 2 sc along the
chain.
Crochet the next row not to the end: 26 sc, 1 ch, turn the crocheting

Crochet 14 straight back-and-forth rows, 14 stitches wide

Leave a thread enough for sewing

Connection of the front pair of the legs:


Cut the yarn for the first leg and fasten off, for the second one – leave an open loop.
Crochet 2 ch from the opened loop, insert the hook in the other leg, crochet round the
first leg 18 sc, then 2 sc along the chain, 18 sc along the second leg and 2 sc along the
chain.
Crochet the next row not to the end: 10 sc, leave an open loop.
Connect the both parts as it is shown at the photo below.
Sew the back part to the front one according to the scheme. You need to sew the
stitches marked by a purple color.

BODY
Move the beginning of crocheting from the opened loop till the joint of the leg with the
belly, to do this, crochet 2 stitches forward. Crochet in a circle round the body and all
legs.

1-13 rnds: 13 rows – 1 sc in each st around (80)


14 rnd: 14 sc, 13 dec, 40 sc (67) – the decreases should be in the center of the back

15 rnd: 1 sc in each st around (67)


16 rnd: 14 sc, dec, 9 sc, dec, 40 sc (65)
17 rnd: 14 sc, dec, 7 sc, dec, 40 sc (63)
18 rnd: 14 sc, dec, 5 sc, dec, 40 sc (61)

Fold the edges of the body in the center. Begin sewing the opening moving from the
withers. Stuff the body in the course of sewing. Leave 40 stitches not sewn – the opening
for the neck.

NECK

Begin crocheting from an open-loop. Stuff in the course of crocheting.


1 rnd: 1 sc in each st around (40)
2 rnd: (8 sc, dec) х 4 (36)
3-4 rnds: 2 rows – 1 sc in each st around (36)
5 rnd: (7 sc, dec) х 4 (32)
6-14 rnds: 9 rows – 1 sc in each st around (32)
15 rnd: (14 sc, dec) х 2 (30)
16-27 rnds: 12 rows – 1 sc in each st around (30)
Leave a thread enough for sewing.

EARS
Main color
1 rnd: 6 sc in the magic ring (6)
2 rnd: (1 sc, inc) х 3 (9)
3 rnd: 1 sc in each st around (9)
4 rnd: (2 sc, inc) х 3 (12)
5 rnd: 1 sc in each st around (12)
6 rnd: (3 sc, inc) х 3 (15)

Don’t stuff. Leave the threads enough for sewing.

TAIL
Main color
1 rnd: 6 sc in the magic ring (6)
2-7 rnds: 6 rows – 1 sc in each st around (6)
Leave a thread enough for sewing. Bring the thread to the opposite side of the tail, put a
little stuffing inside.
Attach the brown stitches to the front and back loops of the last row. Sew the tail. Cut an
extra length

HORNS:
Brown color
1 rnd: in the magic ring: ch 3, 12 dc, sl st in the first stitch (12)
2 rnd: 3 ch, (2 dc, 2 dc in 1 st) х 3, sl st in the first stitch (9)

Change the color to the main one
3-8 rnds: 6 rows – 1 sc in each st around (9)
Leave a thread enough for sewing. Put the stuffing.

Sew the head to the body. Use a knitting needle for the convenience.

MANE:
Mark the direction of the mane growth with the pins, additionally stretch a thread.

Begin attaching the mane from the top of the head.


Move from the top to the bottom, then in the opposite direction.

(In the video there are two methods, choose the most convenient for you)

I USE THE FIRST METHOD:


The first strand is just inserted under the stitch, further attach the threads as it is shown in
the video.

To fasten the last loop, pass the nearest thread in it and tighten.

Cut the excess length

Comb the mane with a metal brush or a comb and once more trim the ends

Sew the ears and horns. Embroider the nostrils in the 5th row.

Embroider the spots according to the scheme
