Flowercrown Cardigan

@vidundergarnet
#flowercrowncardigan
Needles: US 6, 4 mm.
Suggested yarn: Drops Merino extra fine 8-9-10-11
skeins (50 gram) main colour and 1 skein contrast
colour
Gauge: 10*10 cm = 18 stitches, 26 rows
Sizes: S-M-L-XL

The cardigan is knitted top-down, so that you can try

it on while knitting. The cardigan has stranded colourwork on the yoke, which is interrupted in the
front, so that the buttonband is without pattern. It is knitted in the round at steeked in the end.

Tip: If you would like to use this pattern for at sweater, replace the buttonband stitches with two
repetitions of the diagram.
Yoke

The diagram is repeated 18-19-20-21 times.

Cast on 120-134-140-146 stitches and knit rib (knit 2, purl 2) on needles
size 3½ mm for 3-3-4-4 cm.
Changing to needles 4 mm, follow the diagram. The first 20 stitches in
each row is marked for buttonband, and are knitted with the main
color (and thus not according to diagram). On the buttonband, a
buttonhole is made in the fourth stitch from the right with a 6 cm
interval all the way down.

When you reach the end of the diagram, you continue in the main color
and increase every 13 stitches on every sixth row until the yoke has 254
- 287 – 321 - 355 stitches.

Now you separate for the arms. The front piece will be 10 stitches
larger than the back because of the buttonband.
S: sleeves 52 st, front 80 st, back 70 st
M: sleeves 60 st, front 88 st, back 79 st
L: sleeves 66 st, front 100 st, back 89 st
XL: sleeves 74 st, front 108 st, back 99 st

Place the sleeve-stitches on a stich holder (or similar) and keep the front and back stitches on the
needles.

Before continuing, try the yoke on to check the fit.

Body
With the stitches for the front and back on the needles, you knit in the round. Remember to make
buttonholes every 6 cm. Knit until the work measures 34-36-38-40 cm from armhole. Knit 4 cm rib
(knit 2, purl 2) Cast of loosely.
Sleeves
The stitches for the sleeves are placed on double pointed needles. Furthermore, 3 stitches are
picked up under the armhole. Knit in the round. Decrease by 2 stitches after 12 cm and again after
26 cm in the beginning of a new row. Continue until the sleeve measures 42-43-44-45 cm, and knit
4 cm rib.
Remember to try on the sleeve. It’s better to knit it slightly too long than too short.

Buttonband
The middle of the buttonband is steeked. If you don’t know how this is done, try and search for
“steeking” on Youtube or Google and follow the instructions.

The steeked edges are folded back, and are secured by sewing
them in place either on machine or by hand. If desired, you can
sew buttonholes in a ribbon, and secure it to the folded edge
for extra stability. If you do so, remember to match up the
buttonholes in the band with the ones on the cardigan, and
secure the holes on top of one another with a few stitches.

Weave in the ends, sew in the buttons, and block the sweater.
