2 System preparation
2.1 Powermanager installation files
Download the installation files from Siemens Support Portal:
https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/109771760
Extract it on your local system. For extracting a tool like 7-Zip (www.7-zip.org) should be used. Avoid using the
Windows integrated function for extracting.
2.2 Available diskspace

Minimum 370 GB of free diskspace must be available.
2.3 ALM Software

Ensure there never was an installation of “Siemens Automation License Manager” available before the installation
of Powermanager (e.g. part of Powermanager V3 or TIA-Portal). In this case, installation will fail and a new
installation of whole Windows operating system is recommended.
2.4 User rights

For installation a local Administrator account is required.
2.5 Backup
For installation it’s recommended to create a Windows restore point.

3 Installation
3.1 Main installation
The installation files must be stored in a local storage location (e.g. no network drive) with the shortest possible
path (e.g. "C:\Temp\").
Important:
For installation, the Setup.exe must be started by an local Administrator and with a right click and "Run as
administrator".

Select “Server” for setup type:
If some additional functions are required, select it:

Optional:
Set a name of your project.
Choose a language pack. This selection cannot be changed afterwards:

3.2 GMSWebUser
After the installation, open “Computer Management / Local Users and Groups” and set the option “Password
never expires” for the user GMSWebUser:
Open Computer Management with [Windows-Key]+[R] and enter “compmgmt.msc“

4 Activate license
License activation must be done after installation. Start powermanager once and confirm the license agreement:
After confirmation the further login process can be canceled:
Start LMU and activate the license.
For license activating a separate description is available:

5 Configure Powermanager
5.1 Start Project
Open SMC and start the project if it is not already running. After starting wait until project status shows “running”:
Do a first login with username “defaultadmin” and password “1”:
Set a new password for this user:

To activate the language, select the user, save and perform a new login (log of and on again) to powermanager.

Minimum one Area must be defined before creating Devices

6.6 Create Report Definition

First “Create Folder” and second “Create Report Definition” in this folder:
Select Type:

6.8 Configure Email
6.8.1 Server
For notifications or report sending by email the mail server configuration is required.
Add SMTP Server:
Configure SMTP Server:
Settings must be adapted to details of used SMTP server. If a public mail server (e.g. Gmail, GMX, …) is used,
there the SMTP access must be unlocked in configuration.
For full functionality the “Security Type” must be set to TLS or SSL.
